Limited gil permission idea

A thread recently post about FC losing 70 mil after a member was compromised. Reading this just gave me the idea why dont we have a Limited gil permission that would let the FC leader set a daily amount of gil that could be withdrawn from the FC chest by those with the permission.

If such a permission was in place FC leads would be able to let members pull gil without fear of them withdrawing all of it. It would be better then giving them the current permission. The idea could even be extended to include items so only a certain number of items can be withdrawn per day.

I think that there enough controls on the FC chest as it is - sadly some FCs have been too trusting or naive. Gil withdrawals should be exceptionally limited to less than a handful of members - ideally just the leader and second in commands only and they should all of course have 2FA as standard as it costs nothing and is the smart thing to do.

Items in an FC chest are easily replaced, but gil of that amount is much harder to recoup. Setting permission for "members", I'm not sure why these members would need access to the gil. Gil generated by the FC should be going toward the FC, with the approval of the Leader and it's officers. Events, FC decor, workshop projects ect...In all these cases the leader of the FC should be involved in appropriating the funds needed. The only reason I gave my officers access to gil funds was all about trust. That is until oneday one of my officers got a tell and niavely followed a link to a fake SE account site then logged in.

I'm not sure permissions is the best answer. I think SE bringing the hammer down on these scammers (RMT) and making your members aware that the scam is out there is the better course of action. A good FC would understand why the leader has sole access to the funds and work with it's officers to insure these funds get distributed for FC activities.

This was just idea and losing your whole FC do to leadership failure is far worse and does happen.

I mean, the option you want is just disable withdrawals entirely, in the current situation. If an FC member needs gil, they ask an officer for it.

Otherwise, yeah, an option where leadership can place limits by rank is not a bad idea.

The problem with setting a daily limit is that members then feel compelled to withdraw that amount every day or they'll feel like they're losing out on gil they could have had.

Better to just disable withdrawals completely, then temporarily enable when a member has a legitimate need to make the withdrawal.

Only problem with this is one side will need to specify how much is being removed. Other wise said member can remove all they want and you be SOL for getting it back. Not even GM's will restore it cause you allowed access to the gil with no agreement on how much could be taken.

Whole purpose of the limitation allows safe no risk access. Has members will only be able to remove what their limit allows. If the member needs more a officer can remove it

I'll never understand why there is no setting to limit how many items or stacks a member may withdraw. You can either give them the ability to steal the entire tab, or you give them nothing at all.

I see no issue with gil withdrawal limits too. It means you can give your officers access to gil for events or such, but if they were somehow hacked they can't empty the chest. It's just a safety feature with no downside.

I agree, even the fc master could get hacked and having at least a one day requirement to a change could really limit losses and possible SE action.

When they ask an officer for a withdrawal... couldn't the officer just be the one to withdraw the gil?
If someone needs X gil the officer can just hop over to any company chest, withdraw the X gil, trade it to them.
All without needing to monkey about in permissions or giving them temporary access to the whole vault.

I'm not sure it'll be a clear cut solution without other downsides, even on the suggestions made. And I think it's a problem that has long exists for game with guild banks.

For my FC, I restrict access to only the FC leader (me) and for my officers who're all picked because I've known them long enough and well enough to trust they would not abuse that power. I'll let people make donations but if an expense needs to be made out of the FC bank then they approach one of us. But normally it's only use that spends it because we tend to use the money for the FC. I think of it like having a treasurer.
