SE actively hates healer jobs and veteran healers and we should play sage if we want to contribute since the amount of sustain non drk tanks have coupled with the absurd healing potencies mean that whm/ast/sch are gonna be even more boring
whm didn't even get its holy-lily synergy they brought up. its got literally nothing apart from asylum 2 and a mitigation. At least its water magic? many years late :P
Ast went in the right direction for diurnal despite a third lobotomy in the loss of noct sect and at least they got lord of crowns returned. some fun healing options but still a long way to go before it becomes fun again
sch must be the most hated job in SE. Its only competitor is dark knight.
sage looks...ok but needs a little bit of tweaking. Hopefully it completely eclipses the other healers in usage so the devs make more dps skills next time
Well - looks like if we want interesting/more detailed DPSing, we'll have to be playing sage. Since SE said they're not going to be increasing heal requirements substantially or anything like that.
Not that the other jobs look bad per se. I'll even go so far as to say Scholar looks anything but weak and the new pet responsiveness looks great. But at they same time all the non-Sage healers are just kind of... "Eh, more of the same".
Oh look, all of the "leaked" abilities were 100% correct.
Surprise, surprise.
Was anyone doubting the leaks?
Wonder if double sage comps will become commonplace.
Where's that dumb buff they said they gave all healers during the live letter? I thought they would at least add that lol.
Honestly, I'd say it's totally viable in endgame. They said we're going to want a pure healer and barrier healer for endgame content, but the ONLY thing of importance regarding this is that barrier healers can apply AoE barriers for prog. There's no reason to take a pure healer based on this idea that the pure healer role has some kind of inherent advantage the barrier healer doesn't, so there's nothing wrong with a 2 barrier healer comp.
Just run AST/SGE or SGE/SGE and let WHM and SCH rot
Oh look, every healers level 90 skill is nice in a way, but SCHs is a meme. Also why is SCH the only healer without a new attack of some kind. In ShB WHM got the Blood Lily, and now AST is getting a new attack/heal 90 skill and the initial Lord of Crowns returned. I just feel sad after having all of this confirmed, T.T
I believe the single target buff that they meant was all the level 88 skills that we get. The pure healers getting damage reduction with minor deviations and then the barrier healers getting healing increase for their spells with little differences as well. Only astro got anything in threat regard with astrodyne but that is locked behind rng.
AST and SGE look good. The other two look super meh to me.
Indeed, it has the same potency on a single target than Malefic and is on the GCD. It has the same cast time and all. I too believed it would have been a nice potency increase, but nope. It's just a Malefic with some interesting heal attached, meaning there is no point to use it as a DPS tool when you can use Malefic and save Macrocosmos for healing.
Lord of Crowns on the other hand is a DPS gain I think. Too bad is RNG.
Now that all healers got their Nukes cast at 1.5s for better weaving, I had expected Ruin II to become something more than a movement skill. It does get a potency buff, but its still has the same animation. Such a lost opportunity there.
Ruin II used to apply Blind. It was a mini mitigation tool.
This may be true, but still, SCH doesn't even have that option. It would of been nice for SCH to get more attack options, DPS neutral or otherwise. Also like why couldn't they make Ruin 2 a new skill entirely. I'm just really disappointed with all of this right now.
If I may clarify...
Yes, it's n°1 purpouse is : use on CD for damage
However, admitting you work with your co-healer in raid to heal damage... Assize actually often come at moment where you'd have to heal.
Knowing you'll have this 400 pot aoe healing ressource no matter what feels great.
So yes, you're not using it "for the heal", but since it's attached to it, it actually does what it's meant to do.
Scholar's fairies look more active than before, but I'm still extremely disappointed in the job's lack of newer DPS skills. None of the damage spells below level 80 were significantly altered either. The lack of feedback by players being acknowledged is really disheartening.
correction: they acknowledge it. They don't give a damn and are under a huge misconception that dpsing while healing is high end gameplay when in fact its basic gameplay and the bare minimum past sastacha. the game outright tells you to do dps while healing on multiple occasions.
I will say that the changes to Astrologian are definitely welcome in my subjective view; there are some more actions that are either related to damage amounts or directly deal damage compared to before. Sage also looks pretty fun, so I'll definitely see if I end up liking that as a new healer main.
The scholar fairy responsiveness is honestly the most unsung hero in the media tour
There seems to be mixed views on if the responsiveness has improved or not between the streamers. Though it was noted that people were playing remotely. Mr Happy for instance claimed ghosting etc and the fairy didn’t appear much more responsive. Can only help and try it for myself.
I think that Ast Lord of crowns would benefit from being changed to a weak aoe shield applier. That way people dont groan whenever they dont get the
Balance(Lord) and keeps their "we can do a bit of both" identity passively by changing the Minor Arcana uses between preemptive and reactive use rather than one being more useful. Cause lets be honest Ast already has a few aoe heals plus Lightspeed Helios spam in back pocket. Other than that im pretty cool with the changes to it.
Oops meant "But" not "Cause" at the end there.
You know what's hilarious?
Square says they want healers to "focus on healing."
Square also gives non-healer jobs more ways to heal themselves and the party. GNB gets Aurora charges, and Heart of Stone now has a mini-Excog attached to it. DNC gets a party shield from Improvised Finish, in addition to the Curing Waltz it already has. SMN gets a heal with an excog-style triggered regen.
It's like they saw that no-healer E4S run and said, "Yes, more of this, please."
Even if the faerie responsiveness didn't improve like it seems to have. Broil's cast time reduction would naturally spread out the abilities over gcds if you where using them back to back. That is the unsung hero in my personal opinion, while WHM's did absolutely need it due to their own issues Alot of the clunk in the SCH's kit is fixed by that alone. Seeing that clip of Larry doing all those ogcds back to back between Broil casts and just how much smoother it looked on that basis alone has me excited.
Yep, taken in isolation, large chunks of the new kit are pretty forgettable but the nuke cast time will be a pretty significant step towards helping the fairy feel more responsive again. It'll be a nice little DPS gain for WHM as well, no more clipping Assize and PoM.
Putting that question here because I didn't see anything in the media tour infos :
I think the LL mentioned something about a new role action. do we have anything on that, or is it lost with the aoe bonus effects ?
According to MTQ, healer role actions are identical to Shadowbringers.
Yeah I don't understand why so much mitigation and party/self healing all over.
We could bring the argument "but more damage are to be expected", but we know we can't fully trust this anymore.
You were"nt pushing that button enough. Do it more and leave the healing to anyone else that isn't a healer.
