What's going on with Astragalos and why is it still visible in Duty Finder?

I'm sure this has come up multiple times in the distant past, but I don't see it anywhere on the newest forum page of PvP threads: Why is Astragalos (Rival Wings) still a displayed duty if it hasn't been playable for years now? If it's intended to become playable again soon, then any official news would be nice, but otherwise, I don't see the point in why it's even still visible in the first place.

Astragalos has now been unplayable for longer than the time that it was enabled for, and it's pretty hard to not notice that every time I head to its tab in the Duty Finder...

it's prob some mundane reason like it's just easier to leave it there than to spend the time to remove it from the listings.

They need to give the map a makeover if they ever bring it back. Mainly reducing the size of the map, and having towers and core on the same elevation. You couldn't hit the core from the south lane with an Oppressor unless you stood right next to it because of difference in elevation. Something the developers should've seen when they made the map.

They learned their lesson with Hidden Gorge.

They should at least update the current message that's displayed then if that's the case, since it could currently be seen as misleading or not including enough specifics.

I think people can if they use something like widescreen mods, its all about the camera angle to see where you have to place it. The same way you can hit the core on the current map when you go under the cannons, you can point the camera up and actually see the ground where the core is and aim on it.

They should receive mapupdates probably, and be made into rotation like fl modes too. But SE likes to remove PvP maps in all modes for some reason, we used to have way more variety and it wasn't always only 72 mode either.
WoW Arena maps got 1-2 new maps added every other addon, we in FFXIV have the same map for several addons, and less maps than at the start. What is going wrong?

Whatever they decide to do, they should either announce that they'll be updating the map soon, or remove it from Duty Finder; leaving it easily visible yet unplayable for years is extremely bizarre.

You shouldn't suggest people to use mods. Against ToS and all that. But great that you explain what sounds to be an exploit that the devs should patch.

If there were any more plans for PvP during Shadowbringers' patch cycle after Onsal Hakair, they were probably squashed by Covid and the 5.3 ARR revamp. Unfortunate for us that care about PvP but better for the game overall in the long run.

We usually get at least 2 new maps/modes each expansion.

It wasn’t addressed in any post-Endwalker news posts either. This persistent oddity still perplexes me a bunch.

Bumping this thread yet again. Hidden Gorge will return with 6.2 but there was no word on Astragalos.

Either they will remove it or give the map some sort of makeover. The map is broken with a 15min time limit. Every match would end with a timeout.

I don’t mind which of the two that they do with it, but leaving it locked on the Duty Finder for many years is starting to become extremely unusual. It’s not due to a programming limitation either when older A Realm Reborn trials have been removed or replaced now.

Why not make Rival wings it's own PvP "roulette" que and have the map rotate between the two, could do it every few hours sorta like CC or just have the map change daily? Why rework Rival Wings when nobody ques for it? Only ques I've seen have been organized by the PvP revival discord on weekends and even then it's a crapshoot whether you get 1 game or 20 during a night.
