Hi guys
I just started this game a month ago. I've reached the quest for 20 memories X5 . Is that even necessary with expansion around the corner? I don't think its worth it.

It's going to be glamour at this point; or a way to kill time between now and EW. If you really like how it looks and have nothing else to do? Go for it! Otherwise it's no sweat to skip it for now. It's content that will remain.

The Bozjan Southern Front actually has a pretty neat storyline, so if you like Final Fantasy stories, then it's still worth it.
Otherwise, the weapons exist for glamours and achievements and a free max level +5 weapon for the next month, but don't serve any other purpose and will be obsolete by level 87. -

Check out the queens blade final glamours. If you want any of them at any point maybe do the content now while it's "live". Otherwise no. Even when it was brand new it wasn't necessary for doing relevant content.
Relics have been always about the glowy weapon. Alternative and serviceable gear is always available. -

It's only worth it if you like the glamours.
The weapons have two further forms as you build them up:

If you don't like them, there's no major gameplay value to building them up at this stage.
If you do like them, you'll need to work your way through Bozja and Zadnor, so definitely start levelling up in Bozja now and you'll collect some memory crystals while you're at it. Then you can collect the rest through Heavensward FATEs if you prefer.
Beyond that, look up the list of required steps for the relic and try to sync that up with your progression through Bozja. Each step of the relic can be done inside Bozja/Zadnor or by other content outside of it, so you may want to delay your progress in Bozja while your do other activities elsewhere.

If you do decide to work on it further, you can at the very least level up other classes while doing so (Bozja being 71-80) and if you manage to get 1000 of the items that turn into actions, you can get an achievement earring with EXP bonus from levels 71-80. And it can be 1000 of any action, even the same one over and over.
Which you can get those actions easily from certain mobs that always drop them, or even buying them on the market from others. -

Don't do it except you like the style of the weapons. You may look at the relics of SB, HW and RR either before you decide. All of them are grindy as hell but if you are looking for cool looking skins you should give it a try. There are videos on YT where you can watch the evolution of the relics. They are already have been nerfed. I know it's still awful but yeah :-). I've heard stories about atma farming... well It was much worse than today. Just look for a guide - here's one for the HW relic https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comme..._weapon_guide/ . A guide will make it easier because you get a roadmap what's the fastest way. Akhmorning released a very cool guide for the SHB relics https://www.akhmorning.com/resources...-relic-weapons.
I'm usually grinding during patches aka content holes.
I'm sure they will nerf the SHB relic steps further during EW's patch cycles. So maybe you wait for that before you're starting if you decide you'll like the SHBs style most. -

A number of the steps do come from other game content that you might be doing anyway, depending on how you spend your time in the game.
The 3 x 20 memories expects your full attention, unfortunately (other than if you do FATEs while queuing for dungeons), but the step after that is doing levelling roulettes or level 60 dungeons. Others require alliance raids or Palace of the Dead, so if you're planning to do those activities anyway then it's possible to overlap them with relic progress – though getting them lined up itself may be considered unenjoyable work. -

End gear usually gets you through 1/2 of a new expansion, roughly lv X5 X6 ish, so its really up to you if you want to continue bozja weapon.
