Get me hyped for...Paladin!

I started playing FF as a Warrior and loved the class, as I've levelled up more and unlocked even more self healing with all the crits I couldn't be a happier tank.

In the more quiet days I've been playing around with Gunbreaker and Dark Knight. While I'm still a little unsure on Gunbreaker (I do love explosions though) I have really fallen in love with the Dark Knight.

The one tanking class I'm a bit "meh" about is Paladin and I will admit I haven't played it yet but each of the other tanking classes had... Just something about them that made me want to at least try them out!

So I'm asking you! Sell me paladin what about it makes you play and enjoy the class? I'm hoping your hype will get me excited to level one up and play it!

So, Paladin is not a class i have played yet.. Being that said there is some potential tie-ins with the Endwalker content that may be there. Also all the equippable items and glams look sweet with the Paladin! I'm an Omni-Crafter and there is some fun armor to craft while you level your paladin. Shields are always fun!

Paladin is cool because it is the only tank with a ranged part of it's rotation.
Sick of boss mechanics making you move away and just spamming Tomahawk? Time to get that big dopamine by adjusting your rotation so you can keep the pain going while laughing in the bosses face.

Also, PLD has the only "true" invuln. Hallowed Ground is a monster and will make you laugh in the bosses face even harder.

Also, because it has an offhand weapon it's glamour game has some interesting creative space you don't really get from any other class in this game.
(well, some mages had this creative space, but lose it after levelling out of ARR).

Paladin is also one of the two tanks with the most defined rotation (other being GNB), so once you get the hang of it it makes for a real smooth prog class (especially since it has a lot of useful tools to keep parties from falling apart) and very enjoyable to try and optimize.

PALADIN IS THE BEST, PLAY IT. WOOOO!!!

Paladin is just my favorite tank, I don't dislike the other tanks but just my favorite one.

The most immediately tangible example is just seeing their really cool super move, that just got improved even though it was (imo) already one of the coolest tank moves in the game. Passage of arms is pretty cool looking too but to segue from that into the next point- Paladin has a bunch of neat niche tools that just gives it that extra utiliy vibe that I don't really feel in other options.

For example they have cover, which can absolutely save a run and makes whoever you save instantly fall in love with you ;). There have been many times when progressing and say a healer doesn't have the gear to stay alive (maybe they get hit too many times and get vuln stacks, whatever)- and then instead of failing the run, again, you just cover them and they survive and you shrug it off. Passage of arms allows you to protect your team from some of the big raid attacks while also looking cool, spot light on you, team moves to you. Clemency which is a very powerful heal that you can potentially chain spell instant cast, that heals yourself at the same time, can replace healers temporarily (this spell while you shouldn't actively use it, unless something is going wrong, is absolutely epic when you use it in the right situation). They have a ranged component to their rotation which allows you to deal big damage while moving around (and happens to be instant cast as well so you have high mobility while doing it).

There are some other spells that are more shared and not as fully different (like each tank does have a heal but clemency is a huge standout), these more similar would be like Divine Veil- depending on your personality you may like this skill more or less (it's good but requires interaction).

Hallowed Ground is very friendly to use, though keep in mind some attacks, and your cover target's damage, are not prevented. Unlike say the bit more unfriendly Dark Knight or Gunbreaker's anti-buster moves which are a bit meme'd on for their quirks. One thing to note though is Paladin has the longest cooldown for their anti-buster, technically there is some value, in a skilled party at least, with the lower cooldown anti-busters (so don't let how friendly HG is to use fool you into thinking the other tank's have no value, or the trap of "HG needs to be nerfed", just Paladin's is most user friendly meanwhile the other ones 'can' be more powerful situationally).

What is really good about paladin is they can heal themselves and others indefinitely. This makes a lot of content, especially dungeons soloable. Where other tanks might have to play really well to solo it and hold onto every drop of health they can retain, paladins can just yawn and cast their powerful heal over and over. The benefit is that if your healer cannot heal for any reason such as a disconnect, death or lack of gear, you can takeover the healing and make it work. You can also heal the healer when they are about to die, such as when they are encased in ice.

It always has a tidy 60 second rotation with plenty of variety, like a dot, powerful combos, a buffed phase and a magic phase. The magic is really nice, although I personally enjoyed it more in Stormblood because later on the cast time is removed. It's half melee half caster.

You get other fun ways to protect others, like Cover to take all damage for someone and Passage of Arms which looks really cool in phase transitions.

Paladins used to be most famous for Hallowed Ground, which makes them completely invincible for 10 seconds, but now other tanks have similar ones and a lot of other things make up paladin identity now.

Squeen likes Paladins so much, they gave them gold stars to stick onto their armor and show everyone.

I love PLD, that's my main class.

Soon you'll be able to not just summon a single large blade of justice, you can spawn multiple blades of justice. Turning into a huge blade of justice.

If that's not hype I'm not sure what is.

You wanna get KO'd all the time? Play anything but Paladin.

You wanna be invincible? Play Paladin.

Having come from WoW and their forums I honestly wasn't expecting much but you guys have honestly got me pretty damn hyped about playing Paladin. Guess I'll be levelling one up very soon!

PLD gameplay suck for me since Shadowbringer, it's boring, I switch to DRK funnier.

Don't force yourself to play a job just because a trailer says: Um, that's Endwalker's job.
I don't like the jobs: BRD, WAR, MNK, DRG.

Paladin was the first job I ever leveled.

I didn't even know what a tank was (I was greener than green).

With Endwalker launch, Paladin is going to be even more of a protection tank and practically unkillable with lots of healing abilities.

I've always liked protecting my fellow players but not being a healer. If you complete enough extreme trials you also get a demented poodle mount. They say it's a lion but seriously one look at it and it's a demented poodle for sure.

Stunadin is the best at the stuns. They have stuns for everyone. Spread those stuns all around. Your green healer that's about to have a heart attack will thank you after you wall to wall pull.

Buy Abes outfit, use Emperor's New Shield as glam, get a sizeable one-handed sword and pretend to be Tidus. No, I'm serious. I hate bard, but I have fun finding a glam for that class.

The "Emperor's New" set is basically a piece of 'gear' that is invisible. So if you put it on your weapon as a MNK for example it will appear you're attacking with your bare hands.

Using it on a Paladin will render your shield invisible so it looks like you're just using a sword, much like Tidus does.

Emperor's New Shield = invisible shield. You can get it for MGP in Gold Saucer to make one-handed Paladin.
