I suspect (pure conjecture mind you) that the latest troll that found its way into it, was reported and maybe the mods took the thread offline temporarily to assess the situation. We'll see if it appears again.

I didn't mean like give me the actual names. But more of a like plot summary of what happened. Think of it as " Last time on FINAL FANTASY XIV FORUMS. " :c

Maybe the thread was too huge and hit some Server Limitations'. And the mods had to delete it. :)

That thread was there last night, at least I think it was. Odd. I thought I had checked it, and there wasn't anything recently problematic. Unless there was something I missed in the past few days that was, and they took it down to, yeah, assess and clean it. They could have also deleted it, but I don't see why it would need to be deleted. They've hidden popular threads and they've come back before.

Thing is that something i may find offensive because of whatever reasons, someone else may not. I can live with that provided both sides respect the other's point of view. So if i give you a summary of what i think was trolling and offensive, i may accidentally start a flame war. Again not what i want. That's the main reason i avoid doing that. Just being super careful not to step on any toes. ;-)

Wow, oh no! That thread was my haunt when in the WC...

When I went to sleep last night, nothing seemed out of the ordinary - heck, that one weird troll who was harassing people with female avatars got drowned out by talk of Trusts, which still technically fall under DF stories. And even if they didn't, wouldn't be the first time the thread went off topic for a bit.

That thread has been active for years, so unless someone started trolling it super badly between when I went to bed and now, I'd assume maybe it's just hidden to clean up some of the troll posts people reported. If it has been deleted though, what the actual **** lol.

Did that "female avatars" guy keep posting? Last i peaked in on the thread they asked that question once, one person answered(basically saying that no one cared - which i would cosign but i didnt feel like interacting with said troll) and the rest of us had just ignored them and went on with normal posting.

Not that I noticed up until I closed out the forums for the evening. I did report one of his posts, no idea if others did, but yeah. Unless he came back in the dead of night to spew some more weird and harassing tripe, he got drowned out by people sharing a couple stories (and a lengthy discussion about Trusts that I inadvertedly started).

Oh, so that's why I suddenly lost like 40 posts on my post count.

Eh post count doesn't matter much to me (though it certainly seems to for some people, who use it as some way of arguing that someone doesn't play the game. I've used the forum since I started in 2013 and haven't even broke 1k, lmao).

What does matter to me is, if the DF thread did get deleted... literally why?

Other than some people who come in fists swinging because god forbid people ask for basic competency of their party members, and a few random trolls here and there, it's remained on topic and within forum ToS for literal years. I think it's one of the oldest active threads here on the forums!

Deleting that just feels incredibly wrong and reeks of some pettiness; here's hoping it's just been hidden to clean a few reported posts up. :/

Don't worry guys, it's just after years of seeing bad duty finder runs SE has decided to get rid of duty finder altogether in favor of their trust system. No more will another player make a dungeon run a bad experience come Endwalker.

I will say this while we wanted better and more moderation of the forums... we honestly didn't mean get rid of the tales thread *sighs*...

I hope it comes back, it was my favorite thread :( (along with the show your... threads that are always delightful). You'd get the occasional stupid argument or troll but blacklist works wonders to hide the undesirables.

And if we can't have it back, can we start a new Tales from the Duty Finder?

Just woke up, tried to find the thread and now it's gone?! It was one of my favorite threads to read :c

I do hope it comes back, the amount of stories on there spanning 3,000+ pages was cool to look back on and read and see that what was a problem years ago is still complained about now. And even though we could just start a new one... it just wouldn't be the same.

Same. It feels like we lost a part of the game itself :(

Last I saw on that thread last night was people talking about aspects of using trusts in duties vs doing them via DF with other people. No idea why it disappeared unless someone started trolling excessively in a window of a few hours.

One massive megathread vs 10 separate threads complaining. . .

C'mon whatever mod comes in here, remove the troll posts but keep the main thread open. It's not that hard.

There's another thread on the front page that had its title changed by a mod, seemingly by accident. Could it be that they meant to delete a post within the Duty Finder Tales thread and instead accidentally nuked the whole thing?

If so, I really hope they can restore it somehow or I'll be sad to lose on all these years of stories :_:

Darn, here I just got out from DF and have some stories to share, yet they just nuked it lol.

They used to be my main entertainment to between MSQ roulette’s cutscenes if I don’t have any irl chores go deal with at the moments :c

It's a thread that has been around for years and has seen new posts on a near daily basis. This is precisely why I think we need more engagement and explanations from our community representatives/moderators when it comes to post and thread deletion.

It strikes me as strange for the thread to be left alone for so long only to be deleted now. Hopefully it's only a temporary measure, though. I know the male viera thread vanished for a bit only to suddenly come back.

Aw, and I finally decided to post in it, too. I may have actually been the last post in it. I just wanted to share a silly story of my "brain-off" trial.

And in the usual fashion I'm sure the mods won't give any real explanation for it because they never interact (usually why so much trolling happens in the first place). I probably lost a lost of posts as well since I don't post super frequently elsewhere.
