Since I began this game I've been pretty much on Zalera. The majority of my friends who play this are on Coeurl, but since Zalera is not a congested server I'm expected to shell out $18 US which is more than a month of sub to this game.
As much as I love this game, Squeenix's blatant, ridiculous and unnecessary overcharging for optional services have sullied it quite a bit. Have they not considered the possibility that home world transfer isn't a good deal at $18 which is why people don't use it unless the stars align and they can get it for free?

Paid server/world transfers have been a thing for almost as long as they've been around. Aside from Blizz opening new worlds and letting people transfer for free for a certain amount of time, I can't think of a time that I've changed servers and haven't had to pay. Overall, if my poor memory serves, transfers have been more than $18.00 when I did them.

We're actually in the middle in terms of server transfer costs. I know some games that do it for as low as $10 and others charge upwards of $25-30. I think $18 would be reasonable if you're desperate to get out of a server/DC.

To be fair, what is considered expensive to one person can be seen as cheap to another.
That aside, transferring servers is generally something that isn't done lightly so I think the pricing is decent for what it does. -

It's a fee of $18.00 that allows you to transfer ALL characters on a server to another. That is eight separate characters for the price of one, which is by far the cheapest option for server transfers that I know of. Of the top three MMOs ESO uses mega severs so this isn't a thing and World of Warcraft charges you $25.00 per character for server transfers. I think we got a steal in comparison.

I would love to switch servers. Sadly I have a house which I love more. As housing is such a bad apple in the FFXIV servers. It's not worth me ever leaving.

I think the most expensive thing about transferring people is that when you have a house, well this promised land, you have almost no chance of getting one.
That was the case when they invited everyone to migrate from an overpopulated world to a new world.
And for the price, it's about the standard price on any MMO, on WoW, it's 25$.
