People are always going to be salty about relocating to a plot they are trying for. They need to stop blaming the players and start blaming the game instead. Either way, just ignore those people. They'll get over it. It's not worth the energy getting upset over. You won, they lost. Such is life. If you are looking for friends, the PF probably isn't the best place. Try finding an FC or an LS that may have what you seek.
The community is mostly quiet right now because we're in a pre-expansion lull. Most people have done everything they wanted to do, so they're just chilling out until Endwalker.
Me too, I bought one in Goblet, but don't like the urban aesthetic of the place, so now I have a lovely plot in Lavender Bed where I love the forest theme much more. I feel sorry people who camped for the plot, but the same happened to me when I tried to get a plot when the demolition timer returned. So it is either them or me. Truly "early birds get the worms" situation.
However, having a house means you must continue to sub to keep it every two months, which proves tiring eventually if you run out of things to do in-game. I feel like my house is being held hostage by Square Enix.
I really wish for instanced housing now where I never worry about it going away. Or they can take apartments and add a 10-item balcony garden for apartment-owning players to have fun with their outdoor items. Honestly, I may even give up my house for such a permanent apartment.
Same thing happened to me when I moved my previous small to a Mist beach front back then. People were pissed about it, harassed me, because they were waiting there for HoUrS. I didn't respond and kept my house locked for a bit. Granted, I wanted a beach front property; Waited for long, long time (years since HW), so I took the chance when I saw one open.
Does it suck for people standing there? Yes. Does it make me a bad guy for relocating? No.
The blame lies with how the housing system is designed. It sucks for everyone involved, no matter who it is. People should not harass others just because of relocation.
Keep your chin up, OP. :)
Tell to kick rocks and stop standing on your virtual property. The shear entitlement that these people exhibit is astounding.
Eight (a guess) people were "salty" to you. Four million others don't care.
Please don't buy into the silly adage of "one bad apple spoils the bunch." It literally doesn't. Those particular people acted "salty" towards you. That says nothing about the community in general.
The next time you login, if you head to Mist and more than 50% of the people on the server are standing there, waiting just for you so they can be "salty," then you can come back here and I will stand corrected. Until then, everything is all good, just move on.
One idiot that cuts you off on the freeway doesn't automatically make everyone else a bad human. Shoot, even here in LA when you might get cut off three or four times if you're driving any reasonable distance on the freeway, 125,000 cars pass or get passed between idiots that cut me off. I don't want to disparage the rest of the decent people, because they outnumber the "salty" ones by far. That's a lot of good people. Or, at worst, indifferent people.
Judge the individual(s) on their own. By and large the community is positive, or at worst, neutral. Funny, that's exactly the same as real life. Go figure.
I mean people will always be salty when it comes to relocating, you legit just shattered all their dreams and hopes in an instant. What shocks me is you seemed shocked that people got salty?
I do not agree with it, but housing is a sore subject for many. It is what it is, live and let live you got the plot enjoy it and ignore the rest.
I never had this issue personally when I relocated from the Goblet to the Lavender Beds. Everyone just filed out quietly. Really people should be expecting a relocation, especially to anywhere other than the Goblet. When my new neighbor got their house I was coincidentally there as they won it, and welcomed them in. Had a good interaction, haven't seen them since. Actually haven't seen anyone in my ward for awhile, like not even standing at a marketboard or anything. Same houses all around though, so they are probably doing the exact same thing I am and just visiting to enter the house, put up a few new decorations (or take some down), and leave.
When I first won my plot, I jokingly told people in chat to get off my property. :p
I haven't seen it getting worse at all. More of the same really. Maybe it's a surprise to people who haven't gotten some bad interactions from time to time, but I've had a spread of bad interactions since I started playing the game. If someone harasses you over a plot relocation, just remember - you have a house and they don't.
OP. I want you to understand something: you reset the timer.
Some people could’ve been standing there since the beginning, and you’ve essentially *doubled* the time they (in their heads) have to spend standing at a plot. Of COURSE they are going to be salty - they’ve lost sleep, their hands are tired, they’ve likely been trying for a house for literal MONTHS. You, through your actions, took a house off the market and made it so people would have to start over again on a fresh timer.
So yeah, people are of course going to be salty. Who knows if their next click could’ve been their last?
Leave it be. They’re not even mad at you, really. They mightve seemed it but trust me, they’re just pissed they have to start over from the beginning.
They are absoutely mad at OP. I've been fighting to get an FC plot and happened to stumble onto one I realy liked, so I relocated my personal there. I had a lalafel start yelling at me DEMANDING I pay everyone there millions in gil as compensation for their time spent there. The house wasn't even anywhere near it's average prime time window. I caught that same lalafel botting several times after that at new plot camps. Zero sympathy. The housing system sucks but it's no single player's fault, let alone is it anywhere close to their responsibility to pay attention to new timers they cause.
Trust me: as a person who has been in the situation multiple times, with possibly up to two hundred people sharing said experience: THEY ARE NOT MAD AT YOU.
They are taking out their frustrations on you, YES, but YOU SPECIFICALLY are not who theyre mad at. They likely will never remember your face or name after about a week, youre just one of many “that guy who relo’d”’s. You are not special, you aren’t the only person who did it to them. You just happened to be there when they got fed up.
I've relocated once to a plot once with active campers. Felt a tiny bit guilty, tossed out a "I'm sorry for what I'm about to do D: ", and then plopped my house down. The only thing said after that was someone asking where my old plot was. Results will obviously vary though.
Like MilkieTea said, I highly doubt they're mad at you personally....but as they have no way to scream at SE about how awful their system is, and so you are the next best thing as you're right there. It's sucks, and it's unfair, but I'd do my best to just blacklist anyone else who is giving you grief and put it behind you.
Yeah, I think people get so fed up with house hunting and getting it swiped up from under them multiple tikes that they forget that people are, well, people.
Frustration abounds, and some people aren’t as level headed as you. I remember the first time I got a house swiped from me (in Goblet, person upgraded from a lower tier small to that current small) I just said “wooow. Okay then.” and tele’d to my apartment in Shirogane to skulk in my pretty studio. Next time it happened was in lav beds and the person had the gal to say “i know you guys are gonna be mad. but it’s pretty.” and gave us a mist coord. We just kinda idled there for a few minutes in shock before someone piped up and said that it was a medium and to not even bother.
Every other time though? The saltiness that comes out is, while directed at the person who reloed and even caused by the person they reloed, more indicative of the players being upset at having to start over again.
I did the same, people were sitting at a plot for several hours clicking to buy; I relocated my home to it and the people there got MAD.
So, I locked my home but there were 4 housing bots there that would have won over the players. SE doesn't do anything to stop housing bots- I couldn't let the housing bots get the plot AND to top it my friend ended up getting the open plot I moved from too :) Screw housing bots.
I recently relocated. There was 4-5 people clicking the sign. I got 2 reactions, one was welp and one was something like being sad not getting plot near their FC house
