I'd like to suggest speeding up REPEAT, Legacy Relics, and also adding BLU Relics

Going through the ARR Relic Weapon quest has proven to be quite a time-sink, although it's definitely given me an appreciation for what it took to get these awesome weapons back in the day!

When it comes to getting ADDITIONAL Relics of the same expansion, however, I feel like it would be nice to speed things up a bit here and there, at least on the most tedious steps.

For example, once you've completed the ARR Relic, maybe working on the second and beyond, you need only complete 1-3 of the "Books", maybe you only need 50 materia instead of 75 (35+15 for PLD), and for the Light infusion, maybe the values are multiplied 5x-10x?

Or if it's not TOO much work, maybe the amount of work is a little less for EACH Relic you make, so those interested in collecting them all can actually do so in their lifetime.

As a related but SEPARATE suggestion, I would like to suggest adding BLU Relics to all LEGACY Relic Weapon quest-chains. There are multiple reasons:

1. Considering there are only a couple of "Canes" in the entire game, it should be super easy for the team to create some new designs, and apply some glowy effects.

2. It gives Blue Mages even MORE content they can run on their own, which is sort of the main draw of the Job for a lot of players!

3. It gives players an arguably "easier" path for experiencing the STORY of the Relic Weapons, particularly for players like me who primarily play jobs acquired in LATER expansions.

Now, seeing as I've yet to do a whole lot on the Bozjan front, that might mean the BLU needs a modified means of acquisition and upgrading. I don't really know how much is involved there, so that could be way more work than I realize. If that is the case, and you don't want to allow BLU's to run Bozjan content, then maybe provide Relics up through Stormblood, and they can maybe get more Relics down the road, when Bozja is so obsolete that there's no issue allow BLU's to run around there.

I think both of these suggestions would just make getting Relics way more approachable, since you wouldn't feel like "I guess I'll try and get ONE and then bounce". Or like me, I really didn't get a good enough look at the ARR Relics for WAR, and now I'm sort of regretting going for the PLD ones (in fact, WAR's have some really good Relics start to finish, although I'd say the final Shadowbringers one, Paladins have the best one).

Depends on how easy. Part of the continued appeal of past Relics is the grind. Each one has been nerfed before so the original experience is never there anymore (not a bad thing imo). I think most people who do multiple relics though, tend to do them simultaneously. I know I did. It's a lot easier that way. So the likelihood of BLU getting any seems slim to me.

They did nerf some of the grindy parts of the past relics like the "light" accumulation steps they either lowered the value needed or they made the gain rate higher. Some of the other steps I feel could use some trimming like the books on the ARR ones. As mentioned they don't appear to have a desire to make relic weapons for jobs that didn't exist during that expansion. For BLU I wouldn't mind a proper relic for it but I'd also like it if the weapon actually had some stats or bonus on it. At the least for BLU I'd like them to add recipes to craft BLU weapons from trials drops and do the same for jobs released after that set of trials because those crafted "weapons" are just used for glamour anyway.

Some ideas to maybe go along with this (I like the OP):

BLU's canes might come with special effects, since it's a limited job the balance issue of doing this to normal jobs is not as important and you can still glamour if you don't want one passive but like the look. For example Ramuh's cane, may have a chance to strike a random enmity'd monster with lighting each time you use a magical spell. Double % if that spell is lightning element (So even if a thunder build isn't the most damage it would certainly be fun to try ;)). Cane that has a chance to duplicate the last physical spell. Debuffs the target is immune to turn into a generic DoT instead. Etc, etc.

Another idea might be some neat Beast Tribe quests (including allowing them all to scale up to the current blue cap, the rewards updating per your level). Meanwhile there might be new blue skills and content around beast tribes, even to the depths of maybe adding a beastman arena, like the FFX monster arena. Such an arena would be akin to the Carnivale but rather than so strictly constructed around specific spell gimmicks it would be a more general challenge (like if you don't have X Y Z in quite a number of Carnivale events then there is no point in doing that event, as it was strictly designed for that spell).

May think of a general challenge similar to how Diablo 3 works in the late game, where until much later (late) game you can approach it with a competent but many options build and be successful (VERY late is far more strict but many many people don't play to that level).

Then new things to spend your tokens on for each tribe, which could be things to build relics, staffs, maybe purchase passives like a FFXI / Diablo 3 horadric cube system, or even work back into generic relic systems like for 100 tokens you might upgrade the Slyph area to have a fountain. The fountain allowing you a free quantity of light (or perhaps at beast tribe token cost, allowing players to not do Totorak 500 times). The Ixali you can upgrade their ability to go out on adventures, like FC do with their airships, and you can then have them complete sections of your book for you like a squadron mechanic. An idea that might be nice to reuse old tokens as well is using them to invest back into infrastructure of the tribe (or even other tribes). Such as spending 50 tokens so the Kobold have a fancy forge. Because beast tribes have a limiter you can be both generous and not hyper-accelerated on such relic concepts, and because the relics such ideas would work for are really old it might just be more fun to do it this way lol. (Like I said rather than farming light by spamming the same thing OVER and OVER, maybe you just do your beast tribe cap occasionally making big progress each week- but not as spammy, especially might be more interesting for getting players to try the old content and if all the tribes sync their quests).

Relics have already been nerfed. Legacy relics are easy to get. Especially since many of the steps require purchased materials and you passively gain poetics from everything. If you dedicate one of your days off to sit down and grind out the books (which are the only bad step in legacy relics), you can be done with a couple of relics in a day.

Light is a non-factor. Aurum Vale spam for ARR relics, unless either Stone Vigil or Tam-Tara are on bonus and AV is not. A9S for HW relics. Both of these methods will speed up your light farming to about an hour or two per weapon.

I would love to see BLU relics! I would also love for BLU mages to be allowed in Eureka.

Personally, I think BLU weapons are fine as is. You get the story progression weapon, and the challenge mode weapon (which is the typically the fancier weapon with effects).

Rather than a Relic, if BLU were to have more weapons added for the sake of glamour options, then I think they should be Achievement Rewards for undertaking certain activities with all BLU parties. Kind of like what's already been established for the Malboro Mount.

OR a cheeky alternative, since Basic Instinct is a thing... maybe achievements earned by completing certain activities on BLU solo...

The old relic steps get nerfed after some time, so they are not as much work as they used to be. Even some of the current expansion's steps have been nerfed.

You already get to skip some of the steps for the second relic like farming stormblood content and the 30 item quests, so this idea has already been taken into account.

You can do the heavensward relics in 24-48 hours so I don't think they need to make them easier than they already do.

No, they have been nerfed enough. Part of the appeal of relic weapons is the appreciation you get from working hard for them. They already hand most things out in this game like candy. Just my opinion.

The grind is the "working hard". Hard doesn't necessarily equate to a skill challenge if that's what you're implying.

None of them IMO were hard to get. It was just a matter of spending the time to do it. In which the time investment was much higher when it was new.

I did ARR again recently on an alt and the only thing they need to really adjust is letting us do all the books at once.

I'm working on animas for about 9 classes now that I didn't have leveled in HW. Those aren't too bad at all, even the umbrite stage.

Hard no on BLU relics unless they're going to go back and make legacy relics for new classes. Which they already don't do.

The books were already adjusted before. If you could do all the books at once that would be way too quick for them. They used to be difficult as hell to get done too when they first came out with everyone camping the same things, no one wanting to wait for others to get to a fate because it'd be gone within seconds, or with certain fates having excessively long times to wait for them (Like one of them in southern thanalan that's part of a chain)

I wouldn't mind them adding a Blu relic in future updates for Blu specifically, it'd be something nice to work on.

Can we get Blu and one other job a relic so we actually have 12 jobs with zodiac weapons?

Meh, BLU is just a mini game, it doesn't need a relic. I'd rather them spend development time on gear for the actual jobs than a relic for a limited one that doesn't matter.

the 12 Zodiac signs were represented by the Atma crystals and the Mahatma crystals, not by the weapons themselves.

moogles weapons are the true endgame!

I casually spent 2 weeks after the quest became available as I was stuck in ARR MSQ just for a lance relic.
The difficulty had been much reduced and with level cap now at lv80 you can just breeze through any ARR dungeon.

IMO. The only grinding was light hunting. Even so, I only spent 4 days for it. Mahatma was even faster (one crystal tower run per mahatma).
Lowering difficulty even further would just reduce its charm.

Unless I am missing something, the quest text never explicitely state how many heros there were. Jalzahn also states that the heros were called many other names but called the Zodiac Braves in Radz-at-Han.

The most distinguishing thing about them was the fact their 'weapons shone with the radiance of a thousand stars'. With the signs of the Zodiac being based on star formation, that is the likely link between heros and calling them the Zodiac braves.

They're from ARR, so what's wrong with that step being faster? I know they've adjusted them. I did this when it was current. They already improved all the other steps so they're almost effortless. Getting the Atmas is nothing now. The wait on the rare FATEs is still a thing, though there are some they've adjusted so they aren't as rare. The last bit that's annoying is doing a FATE to clear for one FATE you need in X book and then find out that you need that FATE now in the next book. Having them all active means they could be ticked off as someone is just doing the FATEs in the given zone which really doesn't do anything but save some time and frustration and would bring all the steps in line with each other in current effort required instead of having that one step be a bottleneck.

I finished my alt's ARR relic in about a week or so and it only took that long because of the book step. It really wouldn't change anything if someone finished it in a couple of days instead. Relics are intended to become easier over time.

To be fair, I'm kinda assuming they are similar to the Zodiac Braves from Tactics, where it was pretty much stated that each of them held a different zodiac stone, thus leading to the idea that there was 12 of them (let's assume Serpentarius was unknown)

I definitely think the Book step should be streamlined a bit. Even if it means instead of repeating dungeons, you just have to do ALL of them (or perhaps better, run X number of them, but must be done using Duty Finder, so it keeps queues for lower level players short).

But mostly, I'd just like to see REPEAT Relics shortened a bit. Ideally, each Relic would get a little shorter than the last, but even breaking it down like "Relic 1 takes the most work, 2-3 are a bit quicker, 4-7 are substantially quicker, and 8+ outright have certain stages removed" (ie. going from 75 melded materia down to 60, down to 40, and maybe even down to 20 at the very end). Something where you feel like "if I want to be a completionist, it doesn't mean dedicating my whole life to the process".

Again though, I totally get if some people are against this. Just my personal take.

While not really a legacy or old relic weapon yet...

Maybe have the Fates and CE's in Bozjan southern front drop those memories for that really early step of the bozjan relic quest line where you need 15 of 3 different types drop 100% of the time in the Bozjan southern front? That really seems like the most time consuming step of the entire thing for making additional weapons as you either sit in bozjan southern front hoping RNG gives them to you, or you run around on 3 different full size and much larger maps doing 15 fates each on them.

While the question of if something similar will be backported to prior relics, the bojzan relics are nice in that the most time consuming parts of the process only need to be done once, and the items can be farmed up on any job and you can even gather extras for when you do it on other jobs. That and making some things drop things for more than one step means that I have been keeping some relics parked on the quests while I farm up before Endwalker drops

i have made 6 arr relics and on my 7th now i would agree that the book phase needs to be toned down a bit
and im not talking about stripping away the content of the book
all im suggesting is to be able to buy all the books at once its almost same amount of work it just cuts down some of the double ups

Blue relic would be cool i would love for Blu to be used in Eureka aswell

BLU will never enter a place like bozja or eureka. They would be ridiculously OP. Things are bad enough with people taking down those FATEs in a matter of seconds.
They will also never get a relic. Their normal weapons don't even have stats, just slots.

All I want for BLU is more cane graphics.

Honestly, I still think both of these ideas are great; speeding up repeat Relics, and giving Blue Mage's their own Relics to pursue. There are so few "Canes" in the game anyway, it SHOULD be relatively easy to come up with ideas. They don't even need to be particularly cool or anything; just new designs.

My sister, her fiance and myself just completed a Zeta prior to EW's launch and (as someone who made a few Zetas back when they were current content) here's what I would change:

- Atmas should drop instantly.
- Reduce price of Animus books from 200 to 100 each and let us buy as many as we can at a time.
- Reduce the amount of books required to complete the step.
- Eliminate required FATEs from them and just let us complete whatever three FATEs we want per book.
- Make Leves from the books not require an allowance. Seriously, I was dry on allowances (Coffee Biscuits) and had to wait 12 hrs to make any progress for about 3 books.
- Remove chance for materia melds with Alexandrite to fail.
- Let us infuse any materia we want as long as we have 75 of it.
- Every single activity should drop max light for both light farming steps.

Many of these steps were made to let us make progress towards specific stats for our weapon and customize it. All of that is useless nowadays. It shouldn't be this hard to get an old glam.
These weapons are old. I kinda wanna make the WHM staff, but... in its current form I don't really wanna touch another Zeta for some time, and I think that's sad, because they're beautiful weapons that are kindda just forgotten.

Yeah, I mean it's one thing to put in the work ONCE, but with subsequent weapons, it should remove at least SOME of the tedium. The Books really are the worst part, but also the sheer *quantity* of materia needed is pretty insane. It dries up a pretty small market VERY quickly.

The materia step sucks almost as much as the books simply for the lack of readily available low level materia.

What I want is customizable weapons for every job that let you pick already existing particle effects. That way every single job can have their own customizable weapon combination.

Leveled to 5 for Eureka and Bozja. Stopped doing it. Too grindy.

I'm more into power level than looks.

I still stand by these suggestions; although I definitely can appreciate the BLU would be hella OP in Eureka and Bozja, but I'd also argue that since those are now old content, ANYTHING that gets more people to run that content is probably a good thing.

Like I said, adding BLU Relics would just be nice mostly for experiencing the STORY. I've still only completed the ARR Relic, but it certainly felt like it had some potentially important ramifications for the lore, and I'm curious if it's story content that could become relevant sooner than later. Regardless, because A) there are so few Canes in the game to begin with, and B) they don't offer any sort of stats anyways, I just think it would be a nice enough fit.

I disagree, old relics are simply cosmetic and have zero gameplay impact and hence completely optional. The difficulty of acquisition has already been nerfed multiple times and if we just make it so easy, every Tom, Dick and Harry would be able to get one with zero effort and it would devalue the time and effort which other players have committed to get theirs before.
