Why is the Cruise Chaser mount from the Mogstation?

Why is it not from a Savage raid or an in-game reward instead?

This is not meant to be a Mogstation evil thread but just trying to see reasons for it being in the Mogstation vs earning it in-game.

Yeah they really shouldn't have. usually store mounts are out-of-character mounts that's more vanity than anything. But something like cruise chaser in mogstation... this is not it chief

How else will they finance new tech to support players influx for endwalker

Well if it was a Savage reward, it would've been there since HW... And Ultimate for Alexander's been out already for a while so wasn't gonna be added in there retroactively I guess...

As for why Mogstation? I would guess because it's a 2 seater. Square seems to be really afraid of letting people have multiple seated mounts for free.

I've played this game for more than 6 years and I've never complained about anything placed in mog station. In fact I even support them and shout JUST TAKE MY MONEY.

But Cruise Chaser is special to me and I dare say to many other players too. To put it into mog station is simply doing CC a giant disservice. CC deserves better than this.

I don't really care if its achievement mount, a quest mount, MGP, fishing, savage, whatever in game. As long as its something that can be worked towards in game. CC... deserves at least that.

I spend plenty on mogstation on things. I've never complained about it. Not even mildly annoyed or angry. But this is the first time, ever, I'm disappointed.

Cause it is a business? I'm ok with it being a mogstation reward because the ingame rewards are cool also. The only time I personal care about cash shop is when the quality of ingame rewards pays the price for it. In this game it does not. So I'm ok with them making more money.

Well at least it's not a top 100 Feast reward, and for that I'm glad.

1: Money.

2: Better it's on the online store then if it had been something like a "Feast" reward where only very few people would be able to get it.

The vast majority of the playerbase don't even read their skill descriptions, making you deserve it would have pissed off them off.

Hidden Gorge, Alexander raids, TEA, anything Goblin related. It could have been anywhere.
It has nothing to do on the mogstation IMO, like some other things.

I am fine with mounts being added to the store. But that one (and some others, which are based on boss models we already have in the game, like Sleipnir) I don't like it.
Especially at that price.
But hey...I'll buy it anyways...

Kudos to the 2-3 people who called it being a mogstation reward back then. Considering how most of the people there unanimously didn't want it being a Feast reward, this isn't particularly a bad result.

It could have been an achievement point reward, Unreal mount, tied to Alexander Ultimate, a Blue Mage mount or added to the Gold Saucer. Instead SE decided, that after the biggest content draught yet (while still blowing up and making a lot of money), that it would charge 30 dollars for a well sought after mount playing one of the most sought after tracks.

Business wanting to make money is not a bad thing. I rather it be on mog than a feast reward.

The cruise chaser mount is on the mogstation because a company exists to make money.

imagine being like the above 2 being apologetic for a billion dollar company lmao. This is why SE and other companies gets away with it. I ain't buying the mount. But what good does that do when simpletons have figured out that SE just wants to make money off of you!

A business whole reason is to make money, this game is not a game design out of the kindness of the heart of the developers. It is design for profit. The fact is, people are going to buy the mount. At least the developers understand that it needs to be balance good content should not come at the price of the cash shop.


So be happy that the cash shop does not lower the quality of the game like other mmorpgs.

I expected to be Mogstation but it still stings for Cruise Chaser being there.

Mount screams Rival Wings or other ultimate/ savage content to me.
(Although I could have also seen as an Ultimate crafting recipe, no kidding. Make your own CC)

I'm waiting for the mass exodus from FFXIV to another game so my login queues can go back down to normal.

I do not support such behavior and i do not buy any mounts from cash shops. Yoshi-P whines about the lack of developer ressources and why they will not introduce new races etc. But when it comes to design new cash shop mounts the developer ressources are suddenly available. That sounds not very plausible to me.

I think we all understand how it works.
It doesn't mean we should give them a pass on every single thing they do, especially when our money is involved.

My FF existence is pretty complete now with the whale mount, but I do like the animation with this one. Prolly won't get it myself, but it's nice.

I agree, if it wasn't for Square Enix making us use our bought time to grind out or achieve one of the coolest bosses in the game, little Timmy wouldn't have been able to feed his 5 year old daughter. You keep on missing the point though. Yes, the logic from a business point of view is sound. We all know they want to make money. From a consumer point of view, however, it's a slap in the face. The model is in the game. The music is in the game. There is a content lull. People are still paying their sub despite the content lull prior to the expansion launch (because they like the game, want to support the game, and want to play the game).
Why should it be acceptable?

They already try their best to push some minor seasonal events every month to make sure people keep their sub going, I don't think they needed a mount on top of it to make profit.

This should have been a Rival Wings reward. Win 200 matches or something. Easy considering it's 2 teams, not 3. Would make the mode more alive outside of discord evenings.

Companies just want to make money off you bro. What do you mean they should put one of the coolest mounts with some of the best music in the game together with content? They are a company man, they don't need to give you anything, just take your money! Just give them your money bro. It's just logic

Square Enix is still a bussiness, what goes and what doesnt in the mog station depends on their marketing team not the ties something has to the game.

Also still way better than it being locked behind Feast.

Also people really assuming it takes less or equal resources to make a new race over a single mere mount is beyond me /sweat

Damn, didn't know those were the only options! Coping paying 30 dollars for something already in the game for years by saying at least it ain't locked behind one game mode. It's no wonder SE gets away with it.

Like I said, as long as the quality of the game content does not come at the cost of the cash shop stuff. I personally don't mind this. MMORPGS are not as profitable as people make it out to be.

It's rare that I feel really dissapointed with one of their decisions, but this is one of them.
What a shame.

After all the cheering from the community about how "cheap" the Lunar Whale turned out to be I can't say I'm surprised about this.

I'm sure the screenshots of hundreds of people in a Cruise Chaser train will be coming soon enough and it'll be pretty obvious why it's on the Mogstation. :rolleyes:

Not as profitable as mobile games for sure. But in every single earning reports from SE the last few years a lot of credit is given to XIV for their financial success.
