Have you all checked out the FF Pixel Remasters?

Part of me likes most of it, but I was a little turned off when I found out the extra content that FF1 and FF2 had from PSP got was removed.

BUT

At the same time I acknowledge this a remaster of the original versions (not the remakes on Playstation Portable), and the original pixel artist from long ago is involved in this project.

I guess in a sense its like remastering the original anime from the 1980s just to bring it up to speed for the modern day fandom, and the remakes are just a re-telling? Not sure if that is the best analogy to use here.

FF3 I think out of all them so far is the best because it never came to America before (the original version at least). I read there is some mechanical differences besides the graphics with this version too.

Concerning the rest coming soon..I don't know how I will feel about FF4 and FF5 because again knowing they're going to cut out the extras. I didn't care for the extras on FF6 since the GBA version was kind of inferior and wasn't worth sitting through compared to the SNES/PS1 versions.

So likely I may end up buying FF3 and FF6 for consoles if it ever does come for consoles at all.

Some kind of express concern when Locke Cole was revealed that he lost that gritty look to his sprite, and the rest might end up following through. Its kind of a bummer because FF6's theme was a bit more on the darker side of Final Fantasy, even their monster designs reflected that too which are some of the best from FF.

In the end I really wish they didn't remove all the extra content, Square Enix seems like it is always taking two steps forward and one step back in almost all of their projects. I really don't understand why they make such decisions like they do.

Regardless I guess I will give those versions a chance (maybe). It is different enough to warrant another playthrough for me, and usually I don't like playing the same title back to back if it was recent playthrough from another version (I do make exceptions though).

I already own all the games on multiple plattforms, I'm pretty disappointed they re-releasing them for the 100th time. Only title I might've been interested is in the FF3 that isn't in 3D but not spending that cash for it.

Have these been delayed? The release date was originally listed as July 28, but Steam is still showing them in preorder status. I'd like to buy VI to play again...

Haven't gotten into them myself, as I'm not really interested in replaying any of those first three games at the moment. I'm bracing myself for what they're going to do to FFVI, as they haven't shown us anything from that yet aside from a couple of sprites that seem kinda iffy.

While they did ok in places, some of that pixel art is just horrible. The originals were often much better, esp for the overworld sprites, but even the battlers are usually worse than what we have on nes. And when it comes to things like in ff1 when you cross the bridge at the beginning and that screen comes up with the floating text, the art is so bad you cannot really figure out what you're looking at, its just a mess.

I can't believe we still haven't received just a generic, non-remastered release of FFT on PC. While it might not be my favorite all time Final Fantasy game (though it's top 3), it is my favorite to replay, since how you build your team directly impacts and alters how the battles are handled.

oooh man FFT!! I cant remeber how many times i cleared and replayed the game....i guees about 40 times! The tactics its one of my favorites! Please bring a petition to square, a remaster of it on ps4.ps5!! The game its a jewel!

Isnt it just 1,2, and 3 that's out with 4,5 and 6 coming in a few months? I'm thinking about buying the entire set tbh simply because they seem to be the actual original games with a bit more visual polish added to them that doesnt involve reworking the game visuals into 3D or 2.5D etc where they change the whole look of the game to look like a different game. Though I do know some of those other remakes did add either new features or new post game content.

They *dramatically* lowered the difficulty on the FF1 and FF2 remasters - to the point where you can't lose even if you try. No fun at all, except some nostalgia for FF1 if you're old enough.

The FF3 remaster is a pretty good game :)

FF3 of the pack so far is the standout, becuase for us over here it's the only real version we ever got of the original 2D way, and personally the DS version was... Meh.

My only problem with these remaster is the price.
Too expensive for what it is. Other games from others smaller companies are cheaper and have more content.

If they were released on the Switch I might have considered it. My Switch is my all-in-one nostalgia machine.

I'm awaiting a potential console release. I'd buy them if they were available to play on my PS5 or Switch but I'm not playing them on my PC. I find single player games more enjoyable to play on a console and they're also easier for friends to sit and watch me play compared to PC games.

Having gotten them and playing through them (beat 1, almost beaten 2), they are very faithful to the NES versions, to a fault. FF1's problems of random stats at level ups (outside of HP), and the spell charge system rear their ugly heads quickly, with limited casts of spells and poor choices on spell levels (at least for White Magic). The random stat level ups can result in some truly weird and insane things (a WHM having the same health as a MNK, and a BLM having half of their health). FF2 has a glitch to where anti-status gear does not protect against status effects tied to physical attacks, only spells. Meaning things that shouldn't be a problem are a problem, including instant death. The lack of the extra content from Dawn of Souls and the PSP versions does not help things. For those two games, I suggest getting the PSP versions or the GBA compilation title, the Pixel Remasters are a waste of money for them. FF3 however, that one is worth it since this is the first time we can play FF3 as close to its original form as we can.

I have, like, negative interest in the remasters.
I've already played 1-4 to death, and I find these "pixel remasters" are actually a lot less visually pleasing than basically any other version of these games. The sprites all look really flat and lifeless, yet have this odd sheen to them like they were laminated, and it also seems like had their details simplified and blown up for mobile so... hard pass from me.
