We already know at least two in the game (or at least hyur crossed with another race):

Hilda, who is mixed midlander hyur/wildwood elezen
https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/fi...V_Arenvald.png
And Arenvald, who is mixed highlander hyur/pureblood Garlean
And sadly both were treated utterly poorly by their families for their mixed heritage, as offspring of such unions are lore-wise usually treated as pariahs and shunned by society. ; ;
There was also a story about a former Ruby Princess of Shui of the Violet Tides who was half raen aura/half midlander hyur and she apparently resembled a normal au ra, but completely lacked scales, apparently.
As for other mixed race offspring, they are unknown, the only ones shown are hyur mixed with another race.
Roe and Viera would create children that are gods and goddesses.

I would love to see a half Hrothgar / half Lala~
They would be like little plush kitty people ♡
And wouldn't a viera/lala cross be an ivalician moogle?
nah they would probably look like Feol Viera or the concept art of viera

There are 3 other hyur/Garlean hybrids: Ramza and Alma from the Return to Ivalice quests, and Severa from the Sorrow of Werlyt quests. Unlike the other examples as well as previously established lore, Severa does have a 3rd eye despite not being pureblood, but it's black instead of white.
There is also a half-elf baby on the First in one of the side-quests, but I don't think that really counts. Besides the First having a completely different culture, the fact that they're all crammed together at the end of the world means they're probably less likely to care about the race of their partner. I'm surprised we didn't see more mixed-race couples there.
Ramza and Alma are the only mixed-race characters in the entire series who were treated well by their parents. The fact that all of the other mixed-race examples were products of less-than-consensual conception says enough about how rare a couple from 2 different races having a kid on purpose is, or mixed-race couples as a whole.
.. aren't we getting these:

Well, let's see...
Highlander Hyur are sometimes insulted as being half Roe, so I assume that half-Roe, half-Hyur offspring look somewhat similar to that, perhaps with green or red tinted skin? I know it's just a racist insult sorta thing, cause Midlanders are jelly of Highlander Beef, but I figure that it comes from somewhere as most stereotypes and biases do have origins in something from the reality of a situation.
Anything half Roe probably gets larger and more muscular with a possibility for strange skin colors. A half roe half Au Ra might be pretty dang interesting. Larger with Highlander like musculature and broader facial features, but still has scales and horns. Less scales, but more beef.
I guess from the Au Ra mixing that we know about that things like horns for ears is dominant over Hyur ears, so it's likely that any mixing between Hyur and anything with different ears results in the different ears but in a reduced form. Hard to imagine what's dominant over what between like... Au Ra mixing with Viera or Miqote, though.
I'd say the hierarchy for ear dominance goes something like Au Ra Horns > Bunny Ears > Cat ears > Elf ears > Hyur ears. Tails there's no precedent for, but I'd guess that a scaled tail would go hand in hand with the horns. But I mean, there's always a chance for the recessive traits to manifest anyway, so there's all sorts of way hybrids could turn out.
Those are just FFIV Namingways/Hummingways (which are not moogles at all) with a different name. Moogles have bat-like wings and a pom-pom on their heads (although FFVIII's Minimog lacked that), which the Namingways (and the Loporrits) have neither, and the Namingways/Loporrits are just anthropomorphic lunar bunnies and really have nothing to do with lalafell either.
But given the Ivalice games' obsession with rabbits I can sort of understand why players would think Loporrits have an Ivalician moogle link (I'd once heard a joke made a long time ago about FFXII that it was made "by rabbits, about rabbits, for rabbits" due to the amount of rabbit-like races in that game. But I digress.). ;)
Maybe, but I have heard without a citation that apparently when a mixed race union does manage to produce offspring, the child's apparence resembles the mother more closely than the father, so I think a viera/lalafell child would be very short, but nowhere near as short as a lalafell usually, especially if the mother is a viera.
Also, viera are not hairy, so they'd basically be a taller lalafell with short hairy ears that look like bunny ears... but on the sides of their heads. But this is all just my speculation so make your own conclusions on that. :D
Based on what I remember at least, something I like about FFXIV is that racism isn't the same as in '' current day '' irl where it's just purely based on skin color.
I can't remember Hyur with different skin color for example being racist towards each other BECAUSE of that alone ( usually it's due to nationality and culture, which are not inherently tied to skin color ).
The whole oversimplification of racism just being about the color of your skin is a very modern rewrite of it historically based mostly on the history of the US and I kinda find it a bit boring in narratives too.
Europe as well as the rest of the world fought wars/ world wars ( still being fought in many countries ) not just based on religious differences but also because people didn't view themselves as the same just because of skin color it has never been that simple.
Even in the US Scandinavians for example weren't even considered '' white '' in the beginning, the whole concept of color and race in that regard is VERY recent.
FFXIV has a more historical attitude towards it in the writing where it isn't so oversimplified.
Mixed races are a more interesting take on that because of how much more drastic the differences are.
With fictional races they're separated on a much more fundamental level.

Hyur + Lalafell
Potato head!
Hello everyone, I've been asking myself a question and trying to figure out the response to said question and that is, What would a Viera and Au Ra Hybrid child look like?, Simple question however no matter where i looked there's no one talking about it, In game my Au-ra girl is in love and in a relationship with a female Viera girl (yes we had bed time sparing don't ask how though) and now Saki, My Au-ra is prego with a baby, now if anyone can find any pictures or draw something up so i can show my viera counterpart i would be most happy.
the game need laladyns.
for science.
(pray the dad is the lala...)
The thing is there not being more viera mixed race kids is kinda wild because in their lore the ones we see outside of their homeland are self-exiles, there would be tons of viera having kids with other races as the self-exiles are also the most wanderlust and spread far across the world. Even in the First this is kinda how they're treated. It also feels less like people view the mixing of people being bad and more the circumstances of the unions.
Spoiler for HW and StB
Hilda was the lovechild of a highborn Elezen and a lowborn Hyuran maid, this would immediately be a cause to become a social pariah because it was an affair in a society that is extremely aristocratic to the point noble families trace their lineage to ancient founders with pride
Arenvald's entire story around his mother also portrays his mother was forced into the relationship, which taking people in a conquered nation as a wife as a trophy was quite common throughout history, she never really viewed Arenvald as something she wanted and at one point tried to carve out what she believed was where Arenvald's third eye would be.
Throughout the entire game we're shown that no society is truly just one race or culture (which even in real life was often not the case), so these intergrained societies made up of numerous races wouldn't just not have kids together, it wouldn't make any sense for them, we even see numerous times of couples where the parents are different races or people being into someone of a different race.
Tbf we do see two prominent characters being incredibly into each other, one being a Highlander General and the other being a Lalafel sultanate.
Mao nots breed with other races. Mao EATS other races (Mao REALLY wanted to helps Dragons in Heavensward). Mao Dragon Momma whats adopt and raise Mao says thems tasty. Tastiest is BUNNYS! Only races Mao nots willing to nibble on is other Au Ra and Lalas. Lalas wise and wonderfuls (It was Lalas in black robes whats rescued Mao from streets of Ul'dah). Whups, Mao almost forgots. Fuzzy Cats also nots for eatings. Thems for pettings! Mao likes new Lady Fuzzy Cat NPC. Is has funs personality.
Of the three confirmed mixed race characters we've seen (Hilda, Arvenvald, and Severa), two of them seem to take most of the mother's appearance with a few traits of the father. Hilda looks like a Midlander with pointed ears, and Severa looks like a Midlander with a Garlean third eye (although hers is blackened rather than the usual pearly color). Arenvald notably lacks any obvious Garlean traits, explicitly mentioning that he has no third eye, but Garleans mostly look like Hyurs anyway (or Elezen with Hyur heads, like Nero). A Hyur/Raen child is mentioned in the Heaven-on-High quests, apparently looking mostly like an Au Ra with fewer scales, but isn't shown.
This, I believe, is a flaw of FFXIV; the many inhabitants of the world move around everywhere, congregating in guilds, mercantiles, and towns.
People of different races would naturally hook up with each other all the time, whether they were in love or just hot for huge sweaty strong furry dommy-mommies.
If every race of Eorzea resided in their own shelthered communities, or couldn't make babies with other races (but they can as confirmed by Yoshi-P), I'd agree that there wouldn't be much interaction between them, but Hyur/Miqo'te/Elezen children should be extremely common because they are living/working together in almost every city state.
Miqo'te ladies are dancing in the streets of Ul'dah.
Except for Hrothgar and Lala, all races in Eorzea are just adult humans with different ears, a.la. Star Trek/Wars, thus I don't see why a young midlander male wouldn't want to meet a pretty cat lady between the sheets.
People are far more degenerate in real life than anything that has transpired in FFXIV so far. In actual life, people want to be vored and date 2D women for Christ's sake!
I imagine that there would be dominant traits with each race, such as a Viera's ears and lifespan, an Au'ra's scales (al least somewhere on the body, a Roegadyn's build, a lalafell's size, etc.
Half-Viera would probably have shorter ears and lifespans, but still at least twice of the average Hyur or Elezen and stay youthful longer.
Half-Lalas could be shorter in size, and have somewhat pointed ears and stubby noses, but are plumper in build.
Or maybe with some it wouldn't be apparent at all.
All of them are Hyur crossed with “race that’s Hyur but with one extra thing that isn’t Hyur” so I’m not sure what else there is to expect. The devs weren’t going to make a whole separate body model. The “takes after the mother” thing was invented by RPers and is headcanon that was disproven by Severa, who also disproved Arenvald’s idea about half-Garleans not getting the third eye, though neither he nor Ramza and Alma who are also half-Garlean got the third eye.
The reasoning is that through a lot of history, the different races fought wars against each other.
Elezen and Hyur probably had it the most brutal because they kept pushing the Elezen out of their own lands and were only forced to be friends after hiding together in the caves due to shared fear of the Elementals.
There are Hyur in Ishgard as well, but they seem to mostly be a lower caste and the few Hyur nobles seem to be those descended from dragon slayers, which brought their families into the nobility.
The whole stigma against dating outside your race seems to be either ignored or softened by the devs lately though because there’s more of it happening, especially with holiday NPCs both a part of the events and couples in the background with passive dialogue when you walk passed them.
