Old Slug shot and Split shot.

Is there anyway we can use the original Slug shot and Split shot animations for their heated versions? (yep, the ones that look like auto attacks)

I understand most people really like the newer versions of these skills, but the acrobatics tied with them isn't something I fancy.

I feel like there's a small possibility we might be seeing some kind of skill glamour system in the future. There are a bunch of MCH players that prefer the simpler gunshot animations, WHMs who want to see their Stone and Aero spells return, and it could also allow them to reintroduce retired animations that could potentially be swapped in for similar moves, like BRD's Wide Volley in place of Rain of Death. They could also use the opportunity to upgrade actions in more dramatic ways for other jobs as people who prefer the older attacks can keep those, like musical attacks for the BRD.

At the moment, no. However, something interesting is in the benchamrk trailer, you do see a machinist use the old Clean Shot animation. Whether this implies you will be able to glam the old skills over the new, we do not know yet. I suspect we will find out at the media tour in September.

Thanks! the Idea of Skill glamour would be an awesome addition for us to customise ourselves. And certainly looking forward to September then.

Skill glamours would be much appreciated – for MCH's silly acrobatics in particular, but also the general trend for everything to get bigger and flashier and with unnecessary piercing sound effects.

Being able to revert to WHM's nature-based spells would be nice too.

MCH in particular suffers a lot with this problem, precisely because the heated shots weren't supposed to be the default combo originally. They made the heated version baseline in Shadowbringers just repurposing the old aniimation, and you now see all the time something that before you would only see as a proc, and as flashy and cool looking as it is, it gets tiring.

thats actually false. In SB it was basically the default combo since you should have always been over 50 heat. If you weren't doing those animations it'd be concerning since they did more damage. The unheated versions you should have seen for at most 10 seconds which is when you just overheated from your wild fire window

God I hope they implement this. Broil II is my favorite animation for all the SCH spells and I would love to see it back.

Oh boy here I go again crapping on MCH, I didn’t mind Heated back in SB because it was earned through heat. The regular shots built up to heated so felt like progress in a way. Having them downgraded to generic “Broil II” type upgrades (much less spread very thin across 10 levels not all at once unlike BRD or AST) makes them feel old and boring fast not helped at all but MCH bland as bread rotation which is the worst rotation in the game with OGCD trying their best to make it irrelevant. They are called Heated shots because your heat is over 50 but nots it’s a awkward clunky remnant of the past

I mean even in stormblood it was just a "generic broil 2 upgrade" since at max level it was basically what you saw all the time and used all the time. It was just more a reading comprehension and skill check if you can put 2 and 2 together that this lines up with this skill and mechanic. Was never really earned once u got barrel stabilizer either since once you were able to reapply Gauss barrel u were already back at 50 heat. The job is way less clunky now then it was in sb and way more active than sb iteration

Less clunky but not as fun, less clunky but not as interesting, less clunky but still lacking severely. If MCH remains the same it’ll be the worst job in the game purely on job design alone

Skills glamour would be an awesome idea! I'm also not a big fan of doing fancy acrobatics or jumps when I'm firing a gun.

There are mods that do bring those animations back already, but they are unofficial.

I think MCH is pretty damn fun and I love the animations. I really hope they don't simplify them but I do think it would be nice if they added a skill glamour for those upset about the how they currently look.

Yes, but not if you want to stream the game without getting potentially banned. (Mods allow you to swap out any animation you wish.)
