an option for it would be fine. i hate launchers that close. if i want it closed I will close it.
most of the reason I stay logged in all the time is so I don't have to reopen the stupid launcher.
if it would just not close everytime, needing the password and token code *every time*, it would be so much more convenient to close the game.
if security is a concern...but a HUGE warning thing to accept when enabling it. maybe require a relog every 24 hours or something?

Use it for what? The launcher doesn't actually do anything besides launch them game. If you're looking for a way to bypass the security token then why not just disable it? It's not required.

actually, the launches does a few other other things beside launch the game, but that's irrelevant. I don't want to bypass the token or disable it, i just want to be able to close the game when Im not currently using it, and reopen it when I need it, without having to token in every time. then I could log in once when I start my computer, like many other games do. a better way would be to remember a computer and not need the token on it, but that's more complex to implement i would imagine.
currently, I log out and click "configuration", which prevents the cinematic from playing, but if the launcher just didnt close, that would be unnecessary. on the login screen the game is still using most of the local system resources it does while logged in. -

Sounds to me like you want the benefits of the token without actually using one. Doesn't work that way. You'll have to remove your token if you want to sign on quicker (by quicker, I mean a whole 2 secs.)

Maybe people who share pc with kids could concern but you will give a separate account for kids. They should think smarter rather than giving only one choice which is "forcing players every time you open the launcher you have to enter a token". I like other games launcher which developed to not annoy players but also give security to accounts. -

I'd have to agree to this as well. I don't necessarily want to bypass the authenticator but on the same hand... I would prefer to have the launcher tied to the key so that I don't have to continuously keep entering it. Heaven forbid the game crashes or your internet goes down for a min. It shouldn't be hard to create a launcher that runs in the back like most games have already.

I would also love this change. I want to be able to take a break and play a different game without having to go through the trouble of logging in again.
If closing the game wouldnt close the launcher it would mean I could login once per day(after i restart my computer) instead of every time I want to play ffxiv -

Love this option too, but I remember someone saying the launcher isnt a launcher and doesnt work like launchers from other games because you technically open the game when you open the "launcher" its just the login window of the game.

I hate to necro, but now that we are in the midst of the EW launch and its queue problems, I feel like this is even more relevant.
Every time anyone gets an error in queue (like error 2002) the game client closes completely, and the launcher as well. I had no less than 5 errors kick me out of queue, so I had to log back into the launcher and use the OTP 6 times just to try and get in and play a single time.
Queue issues are going to happen during the launch, I understand that, but it's made even more irritating and tedious to have to go through the launcher step every single time as well.
On the network side of things, I've had issues logging into the LAUNCHER as well during peak times during EW launch, presumably because it's getting hammered by all the people who have to login multiple times every time they get booted from the queue. If we could have the launcher stay logged in and sitting in the system tray, that could reduce load on the SQEX side of things as well.
An added benefit keeping the launcher open, is that it would handle updates in the background. Those of us who use it via steam would appreciate that, since the steam client does not handle updates to content, only updates to the launcher. -
