As the title says. Please lock the creation on large pop servers. Currently I see that Excalibur is allowing creation along with Behemoth and such. Which are, as i'm told and believe, larger pop servers since I already have had a queue time when logging in since having to transfer from Malboro when you put that on Crystal. But with the influx of players because of certain streamers, and more streamers starting to play (because it's the hip cool thing to do for views atm). Please lock these servers. Those of us who HAVE been playing and not just picking it up following whatever streamer these people watch shouldn't have to be punished in a queue because it's now a fad to play. I love that the game is getting more of a playerbase. But i'm gonna be honest. It's gonna drive me away if I can't even get on my server TO play because of this.

What the game needs is incentives to create characters on less populated servers, education about the server-visit system and more details about cross data center play so people aren't as dead set on being on any particular server or data center.
Are you aware you can straight login to a server visit so that you can do basic play and instances untill your server frees up? -

I hear the log in is around 2k wait. On top of that, people that were playing on that server legit at the time were "Randomly" kicked off the server, only to be met with the queue of 2k upon trying to log back in.Quote:

As it is right now, the majority of the NA servers are locked most of the time. If they just arbitrarily locked other servers too as a “well just in case.”, that means that ALL NA SERVERS will be locked most of the time - not just the majority.

I just happen to have more free time play due to medical situations; friends wanted me to join their server and paid for a few boosts once I created a new character there and deleting my original one cause I had no use for it. Thus, allowing me to puts around and hang with them while they do arbitrary tasks.
So does this fall with in the "hip cool thing" reason? I'm going to say... Probably. -

They do lock servers to character creation when they hit certain thresholds. It sounds like your server may be active, but not hitting those thresholds. They can't lock everything down.

How do you define what is a major server?
Assuming Lucky Bancho's April census is fairly accurate, 7 out of the top 12 worlds for active population over level 60 are all Crystal. Excalibur is down at #23.
I don't think locking the "major servers" is going to do you much good when you're not a major server by population, nor are most of the other servers in your data center.
Besides, SE already locks worlds to character creation based on current congestion. That status gets updated fairly frequently during prime time, less often during off peak hours. On Sunday, locks were being updated every 10 minutes from what I could see as my Aether friends were venting their frustration in Discord.
Five minutes is nothing for a popular MMO. You learn to log in, get your character in queue then step away to get a drink, use the bathroom etc. while your character slowly makes its way to the top of the list. It's a joke in my FC about how most of us tend to select our character for log in then walk away while we're stuck on queue.Quote:

I'd agree that the current situation on Aether worlds is pretty messy (I know a few players with mains on Aether worlds that had to settle for playing their Crystal alts on Sunday) but we don't know the long term impact. Outside of your world visit breaking down on Sunday, it sounds like even with the streamer who doesn't need to be named Aether is no worse off now than Crystal has been most of the expansion. -

Issue really is making them in prime time even when a server isn't locked to new characters. It does take a bit of trying at low peak hours many times and perhaps they should be addressed to allow more freedom for creation during peak hours.
I suspect we'll see more servers added prior to EW before the release of the xpac especially in North America.
Currently no worlds are locked in North America. They are all Standard or Preferred.
