Collaboration for FFXI's 20th anniversary

With the Final Fantasy XI 20th year anniversary coming up next year. I think it would be fun for Final Fantasy XIV to do something to commemorate FFXI. FFXIV is it's own game but owes much to FFXI in terms of paving the way for a great MMO. I think it would be great to have some sort of collaboration event or even something simpler like adding items to the Gold Saucer. I would personally love to have the Novennial Dress and Novennial Coat Sets to be added to FFXIV. These were always my favorite outfits in the game and I think it would be amazing to have them in FFXIV and have them dyeable as well.

Let me know what you guys think. About a collaboration event or adding some FFXI glamour to FFXIV to commemorate 20 years of a beloved game.

We've already had two seperate FFXI crossover events run so far throughout ARR's operation, I think it's probably time SE moved onto another title for crossovers (and I say that as a FFXI player since 2005).

We also already have quite a bit of old FFXI gear in the game too (Koenig's armour as the 'Wootz' armour, the Scorpion Harness and the Vermillion Cloak, not to mention Iroha's outfit from Rhapsodies of Vana'diel as the reward from the aforementioned second FFXI event), but more gear is always good.

Okay I just finally want a FFVII crossover event for Aerith's dress. :D

I will not rest until we have the moghouse portal to ffxiv.

I loved FFXI and often pop back to play as the world is full of atmosphere and danger and great jobs.

I enjoyed the last crossover we had and I do think we need another, I would like something new. FFXI is related to FFXIV so lets hope so :)

Don't need to be a colab but I would definitely re-sub to XI if they remade the game in a modern game engine. The game hasn't aged well.

I would be happy with minions of Lion, Prishe, Aphmau, Lilisette, Arciela and Iroha.
Also all-classes glamours for the original AFs of XI's job would be a dream come true.

Though we already had 2 FFXI events, I would be up for a 3rd. In fact, I think Iroha stayed on Eorzea at the end of her event, and Shantotto said she could come back at the end of hers. ¿Perhaps a 3rd event that would connect and close those things? Or just repeating those two with new rewards (Iroha minion or Shantotto outfit).

But something I would like is this: In their Eureka minions, Mithra, Tarutaru, and Elvaan are mentioned as the ancestors of the current Miqo'te, Lalafell, and Elezen. So, if one future day we could travel to Meracydia, we would find that their inhabitants (if currently any) didn't evolved like their northern cousins, so they would still be Mithra, Tarutaru, Elvaan, and even Galka.

Oh! And Tenzen's clothes. They're actually in the game, but we can't get them.

We don't know, she just.... left the Drowning Wench and was never seen again. But then, it's a special event, they're not necessarily connected into the wider game's storyline nor have any true conclusive resolution (instead special event storylines seem to exist in their own independent bubble, much like the Hildibrand quests). Iroha never seeming to return to Vana'diel and being seemingly trapped on Hydaelyn is more just a way of sending her off without having to worry about a lore reason either way.

Also, technically she has no world to return to, she was from Vana'diel's bad future which, like here in ShB, the player ended up preventing from ever occuring so yeah, leaving her on Hydaelyn is SE's way of taking her out of both FFXI's story and FFXIV without commiting to anything that might involve her in the future, but allowing the possibility of doing so if they ever decide to.

Besides, as far as I knew it was never even explained exactly how Iroha ended up on Hydaelyn in the first place, she just... appeared... (she thought it was either Altana or 'her master' - aka the player's character in FFXI - responsible, but nothing was ever proven or confirmed). At least Shantotto's sudden appearence in Hydaelyn had an explanation (the taboo dimension-hopping magic she used in her FFXI mini-expansion A Shantotto Ascension), and she was shown returning back to Vana'diel, but Iroha's appearence in Hydaelyn never had the benefit of such an explanation or resolution.

Well she says she was in a fight and then there was a bright light of sorts, which had me believe that maybe she came to XIV's world after the fight against Metus (and her being adamant about returning ASAP implied the fight against the Cloud of Darkness hasn't happened yet)... but then she never returned and that just confused the heck out of me (especially considering how Rhapsodies ends).

SE have talked about doing something big for the 20th anniversary for a while now but I assume the vast majority of it will be in FFXI obviously. I would be very happy for a cross over again though, there is so much they could do especially glamour items.

For models that already exist in the game, Iroha had a unique spear and hairstyle as well as her outfit, but we didn't get those.

Also, a dyeable version of her outfit would be excellent.

For FF11 yes, I don't think 14 ever been part of that conversation seeing it two different games.

I'd really like to see more smart/formal looking suits for male characters along those lines.

I don’t care which games as long as I could get a new mount, new hairstyles or new glamour pieces.

I would absolutely love if they brought back XI's AF, Relic, and Empyrean armor sets (granted some might have to be left out due to job mismatches) or the models of the original relic weapons. Armor and weapons seem like the easiest way to pay homage to the game without needing an insane amount of work on cutscenes or dialogue for another event. They should also redo the two XI events anyway though cause they were fun.

Nothing short of remaking FFXI in a similar design scheme to FFXIV could make me go back to it.
I had many many fun years there, but I just cant go back to it the way it is now.

I dont mind collabs with XIV, but I'd hope it would be a pretty iconic gear set or something from XI to really make it memorable.

I'd love a condensed version of the FFXI storyline as something in the game- maybe as some sort of side zone or raid. This is prob the ony FF game I'll never end up playing, but if it has a good story I'd like to experience it.

Problem with that is that FFXI's story is more like random adventures, with each expansion's storyline being its own thing. There's very little crossover between them. Think multiple expansions of stories like the Void Ark raids. That's basically every FFXI expansion in a sense, self-contained.

This is very true but imagine how awesome it would be if we got a CoP raid series in FFXIV? It was by far the most popular expansion in FFXI and I think would make a great cross over. We could also just have an XI raid series in this game, first raid is Sky theme, 2nd one is Sea and 3rd is Abyssea or maybe RoV...... I would love something like that. The drops could be designed to suit the original aesthetic. Homam gear for my PLD...... yes, I want that very much.

Vanadiel being one of the shards ! and traveling there!

Pretty sure there's no chance of XI's Vana'diel being one of the shards due to how Rhapsodies' story is told and also due to how it has its own Gods that created the five playable races: Altana and Promathia.

Well, not exactly the Vana'diel from XI, but perhaps a rewritten version of XIV as one of the Shards... just like we got a rewritten version of Dalmasca as a Source's region. Though I don't know so much about Vana'diel since I only played the trial (I'd wish it had unlimited days for play like XIV trial). I only visited Gustaberg (¿and I think Zadnor gave me feelings of that environment?).

It should be obvious by now that the Shards are not other FF worlds (if that was the case, the First would be FFI's world, World A), so there is absolutely zero chance of seeing Vana'diel appear in such a way. The Shards are just literal copies of Hydaelyn where things turned out slightly differently, but still feature the same basic world map as Hydaelyn (Norvrandt's map resembled the Eorzea map quite closely if it was superimposed over it, and even it's landforms were similar to Eorzea.

Besides, Eureka is already basically the 'FFXI-inspired' zone in the game for better or for worse - it features FFXI music tracks, iconic FFXI gear like the Vermillion Robe and FFXI race minions as drops, and a number of FFXI enemies, including none other than the infamous Absolute Virtue as bosses. And it attempted to emulate FFXI's gameplay as well, with mechanics like losing EXP as a death penalty, the elemental wheel, NMs spawning under certain conditions such as certain amount of enemies killed, and having to party to do anything. Of course there has never been any zone in FFXI actually called Eureka (the name is actually taken from a dungeon in FFIII), and the landscape and story are FFXIV lore specific, but it's still clearly meant to be FFXIV's tribute to FFXI.

So I do not see SE adding any further 'FFXI-based' areas I'm afraid.
