The benchmark is nominally for testing PC performance, but that's not what makes it an exciting release that people look forward to. It's a trailer and a character creator preview – and if you play solely on PS4, you miss out on all the fun.
Is there a technical reason why a version of this program cannot be released for the PS4/PS5? Obviously there's no need to test the console, but it could be relabelled as a "demo trailer" or something similar.
It would also be great to have permanent free access to a stand-alone character creator program. Currently I can't access it at all in the game because I have used up all my character slots (on the cheaper subscription with the limit of eight) so it just tells me I can't create more. And being able to play with character designs is what leads to me creating – and paying for – more alts. This would also allow new players to experiment with creating characters from races that are not available on the free trial, and maybe be tempted into paying for the full game sooner.
Can we have a PS4 equivalent to the benchmark please?

there was also a benchmark/m viera picture contest on twitter. people that have only the console as a real option kind of were left out. i was also curious to see how much better the ps5 would do in comparison to the ps4 ;) -
07-13-2021, 01:25 AMSannaRI'm in the same boat. The PCs I have access to just can't run the benchmark or I'd be playing around making as many cute bunny boys as I'd want. Not that I'd play as one. Any time I have an option to play as my gender I do so and have a very hard time having a strong enough urge/commitment to playing as a male character. I also find that a lot of the times where there is an option to play as a female character the female VA comes off as delivering the lines better than their male counter part. Not that they do a bad job, just that there's more feeling I guess? And yes I'm fully capable of playing and enjoying games where the protagonist is a guy. It's just really hard for me to play as a guy if there's a female option.Quote:

I also don't rp often as it's hard for me to come up with ideas and then flesh them out. Like for me if I were to make a male Au Ra they'd most likely be a gruff semi cold emotional person partly due to how they look. In XIV I also don't enjoy having alts unless I'm going to play them enough. The few times I have I always end up feeling bad for neglecting them a bit as there's a lot I still want to accomplish on my main. Either way I'd still would love to play around with the character creator to see what kind of male Viera I could make before early access.Quote:

While I agree a trial character creator of some kind on console would be appreciated, its probably moot at this point. In the time it would take them to develop something for Male Viera, Endwalker will be released. Female Hroth will likely be in a 6.x patch and they don't release benchmarks for those. Moving past those, we've been told no more playable races are coming. While I do find it unlikely they'll stick to that permanently, I personally wouldn't expect them to waver on that until at least 9.0.

This exact same idea crossed my mind when the benchmark was released. My laptop runs Ubuntu, and I don't think the benchmark works on anything other than Windows. I was watching all those other people play with the character creator for male Viera, and I really wanted to do the same too, even though I'm definitely not changing my character's appearance. I just wanted to see how it was and what I could come up with. It sucks that console players are left out of the fun :'(

Let's be real, no one is running the benchmark to see if they can run Endwalkers or not, you already know if you can/can't. They run it to create male vieras and to flex their score. It would be nice to give consoles and Mac users the opportunity to preview the exclusive content.
