I've been having dx11 crashes that occur fairly frequently ever since I got a new computer back in December. The crashes typically have around 5 lines of dx11.exe errors, one kernel32.dll, and one ntdll.dll.
I've tried practically every solution I could find, reinstalling windows, reinstalling the game, doing a clean reinstall of graphics drivers, disabling any overlays, you name it. However lately I've noticed somewhat of a trend with the crashes, mind you I can go a week or two at a time without problems but these crashes have shared similarities.
A few weeks ago I went to do an unsynced shiva trial and my game crashed and it would keep crashing every time I loaded into that trial. I could leave the trial and play the game, but if I would go back into it, the game crashes. The only way it stopped crashing in this trial was restarting my PC, no crashes for awhile after a simple restart. Tonight I started getting constant crashes in the Brume in Ishgard. Went ahead and tried some different potential solutions for it, nothing worked, constant crashing every time I rebooted the game. So I went to restart my PC, now there's no crashing here. Basically it seems whenever I start crashing in a certain area, restarting my PC fixes the issue, although it's a temporary fix of course.
The only other thing that stopped constant crashing was reinstalling the game, which was also temporary and did not last very long. So what I'm trying to ask is, what could be causing these crashes that is fixed upon a PC restart? I'm really just tired of this issue and could use any help I can possibly get.
I guess I should also mention this is the only game I have issues on with this computer. I'm also positive it has nothing to do with faulty hardware.

I kept getting these errors from February 2019 to August 2020 and it got fixed when I disabled fast startup in Windows settings. Try it and see if it helps you as well.

The solution for my DX11 crashes was to go into System Configuration > Graphics Settings disable (set to "off") the Real-time Reflections (under General) and Screen Space Ambient Occlusion (under Effects)
Haven't had a DX11 crash since. -

Does this crash happen when Final Fantasy XIV is the only program running? Also, could you provide a system report? Simply go to the 'Config' option on the Final Fantasy XIV launcher and to the right of 'System Information' click on 'Display.'

Like I said whichever area causes the crash whenever it comes around is the area that continually causes the crash unless I restart my PC, but I'm able to go to other areas in the game just fine typically unaffected. Can you try something for me? We're trying to find any application that could be casuing ffxiv_DX11.exe errors or any Nvidia DLL errors.
Could you go into Discord and make sure that the Discord Overlay button for Discord is red.
Cog Wheel (Bottom Left) > Activity Status > Final Fantasy XIV > Monitor Icon on right is Red.
Also, is it ONLY a DX11 error or is it the ffxiv_dx11.exe thats crashing? -

Same errors here, have not been able to fix it. Tried stock RAM speeds, underclocking GPU by 500 MHz, turning off all overlays, disabling game mode, updating BIOS, using debug mode in NVIDIA driver for stock speeds. Only game with issues on my computer. Ryzen 3600, MSi 2070 Gaming Z for specs.
Edit: Also on a newer install of Windows from when the original had issues, game is on C drive (seen that issue before) and also tried disabling fullscreen optimizations. -

Have any changes happened to the device before the issue began? We would also like to recommend several other troubleshooting steps:
1) Make sure that your hardware is not overheating and remove any overclocks you may have on your graphics card or processor. Please check that any fans or vents are clear of blocks.
2) Remove any mods or injectors from the game or system
3) Turn off Fullscreen Optimizations. Find the executable file for the game (normally found in the install folder), right-click it and select 'Properties'. Under the 'Compatibility' tab, check the box labeled 'Disable Fullscreen Optimizations', then click 'Apply'.
4) Remove any unnecessary USB or audio devices (controllers, headphones, flash drives etc.)

07-14-2021, 10:28 AMSoapWasTakenNo real changes have been made to my PC since the issue began, it practically started happening as soon as I started playing the game on my new PC. None of hardware is overheating, I never even really get above 60 degrees between my CPU and GPU. My graphics card has a factory overclock but I've tried underclocking it with MSI Afterburner and also used NVIDIA debug mode to set the clock speed back to base value, neither solution fixed the issue. I don't use any sort of mods/injectors and the only sort of overlay I have is an NVIDIA overlay, which I've tried completely disabling when the issue came around and it didn't fix it. I've also turned off fullscreen optimizations and that hasn't helped. I guess next time it appears I can attempt to unplug any USB's, any other suggestions?Quote:

Could you try using a registry cleaner such as CC cleaner? It will run and remove files that may have been left behind by installation another activity on the PC. To so, please remove the game and then restart the PC. Run the registry cleaner and then restart the computer. Once the computer has been reset please reinstall the game again. After reinstalling the game, please restart the PC once more. Once the PC has been reset, please launch the game.

This is how I fixed it. I used a program called Revo Uninstaller to remove the game, you have an option to clear out everything in the registry related to the game. After that I also used CCleaner free version since I saw it mentioned just in case there was a problem elsewhere. I noticed it cleaned some stuff around .net framework but honestly I don't think this was the issue. After that, just reboot and downloaded, installed the game. Now everything is fine.
I'm on a Ryzen 7 5800x, rog strix 3070, 32gb ram etc. My ram is 3666mhz. My gcard is an overclocked model by default. My Cpu does cpu boost so it's overlocking. I say this because people mention overlocking and to me this seems like a myth. -

Crashes mainly seem to happen whenever i tab out of the game but can still happen without that as well. Hi, i highly doubt that disabling windows updates will help here. But the increase of the minimum clock is very interesting. Higher minimum clock means smaller power fluctuations. It could be that the systemwide power supply is not sufficient enough to mitigate higher fluctuations and in some situations some piece of hardware gets too little or too much energy for a short period of time. And it crashes afterwards.
