Vestigial function...
I noticed change with it when I created Wind-up Jin. Max size gives you 1/5 of an A-cup
It should be a belly slider, and I will die on this hill.

Old jokes aside though, it's a waste of customization option.
Ours is not to reason why...
I didn't know that this was a thing, and I feel somehow diminished for knowing it now.
Prob to flag weirdos who use it
I suspect that there needs to be the same amount of values with similar ranges for when the game client loads character appearance so they needed an extra slider on female Lalafell and didn't have any ideas for another slider.
I am kinda beginning to feel that the people who have issues with petite or small characters are hiding something.. because they sure do allow it to occupy much of their thought processes. When I was making my Lala I remember finding it silly and giggling about how it did nothing so why does it exist :D
Now I must wonder how many people have a stroke when they are told my height and age. Hmmmm.
It would be more trouble to add a conditional exclusion in the character editor than it's worth.
Oh...I thought you meant that males have no chest slider...
As for those...bits...I would think that females don't have them either. It's just that no one knows due to covering. (Please don't tell me that datamining/mods have shown that female characters do have them underneath their clothes.)
They're not children in the narrative, but they're 100% intentionally child-coded by both the developers and the community.
Why do people constantly get outed for being pedophiles (with receipts) in the lalafell community? Do you think it's a complete coincidence that people with those proclivities are disproportionately drawn to lalafell-related communities or something?
Why do you think so many of the large lalafell community discords have received strikes/warnings for hosting underage content?
I see more Au Ra males being outed than Lalafell. But, overall, we have no idea if your statements are purely factual or heavily opinionated. As someone whose played for two years as a Lalafell, I barely heard any of that nonsense going down. All races have a chance to be played by unsavory individuals.
As for the Discord thing? The creators of Discord view Lalafells as iffy in a visual sense and ban any NSFW pictures of them because of it.
It's mostly because they have a 'chibi aesthetic'. And to a lot of people 'chibi' equals 'childike'.
And as for the developer tid-bit, if memory serves, Yoshi P argued against Lalafells being viewed in that way. Honestly, if you think the developers are pushing some kinda of agenda, I'd recommend against supporting the game.
Pffffff see how worked up others become over this? It does not matter the game or places if there are small and petite characters in it you can bet someone is out there foaming at the mouth about them. I kinda wish to hand out some hitchens razors right now about the other stuffs because I have never seen Lalas acting that way. The last all Lala event I participated in was more "we are gonna take over the world!" and "let us march across Eorzea" then.. what ever the heck is being discussed above.
What I have seen a lot of is Lala shaming or shaming of those that are partnered with Lala. You know what else exists? Fay. Dwarves. Halflings. Numerous other small "childlike" races. Praise the twelve that the Japanese are not suffering from mental issues and can differentiate between fiction and reality. Because of the numerous troglodytes infesting western culture that cannot stop having conniptions about this I am always forced to play large busty characters or big mans. Occasionally it is just nice to play something that kinda resembles me in a game I plan on interacting with for many years. Mmhmm. I do not wish to be called a pedophile or have my partners and friends insulted by actual degenerates who cannot seem to stop thinking about how everything looks like children.
It was two days ago as well someone posted about all Lala twenty four man raid and what does someone respond with? Not "that sounds silly and adorable" but "sounds like the perfect place for grooming". Just.. wow. The developers including Yoshi P have spoken on this subject and trusted the community to be mature "adults" about it which clearly westerners are not. That is why Lala in the game talk about families, drink, and speak about other "naughty" things. It is time to grow up or get some help or something, I suppose. Have some fun, laugh at the silly slider that does nothing like the rest of us. I will stay Lala until they are ruined and removed because it is one of the few times I can be me in a fricken video game.

Get some help.
I came from WoW recently and my first opinion on seeing this race was of "why is there a toddler race in this game? Who wants to be a toddler?" So I completly black listed the thought from my mind being heavily judgemental while thinking it was the gnome race in wow, not to be taken seriously. As I play the game starting in Ul'dah I went from disdain to meh. Seeing them as warriors or class that wasn't a physical based class thinking as a joke and a defiance of logic. But I did begin to think of them in a positive light being a mage and seeing them being in the mage guild. When I got to see the queen at first i was surprised to see this race leading such a city and people. But she was so adorable i wanted to give her a tight hug and pinch her cheeks. After that point i realized that i was way to harsh of a critic and just enjoyed myself and interactions i had with this race as i took them more seriously. When I see players playing this race i feel happy because they cool now. I even joined the Twin flames because of the queen and the general dude. As a person who loves cats i almost regret not going for the little race since i wanted to be a black mage. If I made another character it would be them or the big bulky race dude.
I'm fully convinced it's there as a joke.
I’ll be honest when I created my Lala I glossed over that option because I didn’t think it would do absolutely anything so I figured why even bother.
This is actually true, it's less about lalafell players and more about the greater community around them. A lot of people in the lala discords are not necessarily lala players. It's often roegadyns and male Au'ra that prey on lalas in my experience lmao. That said, there are a lot of actual lala players as well that do pretty questionable stuff. One of the largest FCs on Balmung is still operated by a lalafell player who used to openly request people post shotacon in his discord. Having lurked some of those communities for a long time, I can tell you that quite a few of the major lalafell community organizers used to participate in debates about the legitimacy of lolicon and actual underage content, before the discord crackdown came.
This is because most unfamiliar with FFXIV assume lalafells are children, which is a pretty strong indication that they readily present as such. Out of the people I've shown this game to IRL, only one person didn't ask me why I was playing as a kid lol.
The devs writing that a race is "childlike" and have "difficult to determine ages", all the while designing outfits inspired by kindergarten uniforms as their racial wear and then going on to say "yeah they're totally adults" is actually pretty lmao and hard to take seriously. It's more plausible deniability than anything, and I think he said that in response to the creepy community begging for child miqo to be added. Races that skirt the line and cater to a certain.. 'demographic' are not uncommon in eastern mmos, and lalafell are just another example.
I don't care about the developers agenda really. I just think it's hilarious the extent that certain people involved in the lalafell community go to in order to conceal their true nature. Meanwhile in reality we have swathes of the lalafell community getting caught up in private image-board scandals and other nastiness. Some of the people that participated in that board are still active in the largest lala discord lmao.
This Westerner thinks lalafell are adorable all while kicking the most ass in combat and politics.
