Suggestion for Housing problem

It's been a while since I post this but I wanted to again. I figured it can't hurt and who knows... maybe someone with the ability to do something about it will see it.

Please remove the Salvaged Accessories drops from the legacy Submarine missions. They are having a direct impact on the housing market and unavailability of small plots.

In short four subs with a S+S+S+C+ loadout can be sent to Wreckage of Discovery and Unidentified Derelict every 24 hours. Since current sub levels and gear are so much higher then they were when these missions were in era they return with several of the items that were meant to be rare. These items vendor for 40k-200k each. In short the submarines passively generate 250k-500k gil a day.

This has lead to people purchasing multiple small plots and hoarding 1 toon FC's across multiple servers. You create a fc with just four people, get the plot through the placard or by purchasing it from a seller, and then remove the toons and leave just 1 unused toon in it to send subs out.

This is not an exaggeration. Huge portions of the housing community are locked down by FC's with just one person that is sending out subs day after day and moving the gil to a main toon. Due to this it also creates a market for botters to create and camp the plots and then sell them via the ff14 housing discord.

All of this can be fixed by just one simple thing... remove the old legacy Salvaged Accessories from the sub mission loot tables. If the subs stop generating passive vendor gil daily the one person FC's become worthless.

Removing Salvaged Accessories wouldn't fix the problem. There are still plenty of other valuable drops to get from sub missions so those players would still continue to run multiple FCs to have multiple workshops. The income wouldn't be as consistent but they'd still get get it.

Doing it would also penalize legitimate FCs who are using those things to raise gil for FC activities instead of forcing members to make donations to get the funding.

SE would be better off addressing the shell FC situation in general and enforcing the one FC house per world rule posted on the Lodestone information page. They also need to consider how world visit and data center travel impacts actual need for players to own mulitple houses. We're already short houses even if every player was restricted to a single house per account period (not per world). As more players get houses on multiple worlds, fewer players are getting a chance to own a single house at all.

Items that can be vendored for tens of thousands, when everything else vendors for pennies, is quite different from items that are only valuable on MB. It’s essentially free money with 0 risk and minimal effort once initial investment is returned.

This is giving FC’s with house (and in-house crafter) a much bigger advantage over house-less FCs. If funding for FC activities is an issue for FCs, solutions need to be found that would work without forcing FCs into joining in on the housing-savage.

I never looked into it, but couldn’t FC’s buy stuff with FC credits to sell? If that’s not enough, SE could consider adding gils to FC per activities done by its members.

You can only buy apartment/house on your home world. Cross-world ownership by same player is done through alt characters. I don’t see how housing is impacted much by cross-world/data center travel other than perhaps giving incentives to create alt on different worlds due to new friendships formed.

SE need to forcefully go in and have a say against 1 person FC's, Grandfathered housing and more... only a few would be affected and those that do get affected is also down the lines people that exploit the current system to the fullest, it mades me want to buy several 1 person FCs myself for my alts, but honestly what would tbe motivation be like?

Does a player really need houses on 5 different worlds when they can simply world visit/data center travel their character to their house they own on a different world?

The multiple house ownership per account needs to get phased out as long as supply is less than the number of active players who want a house.

I had never actually thought about that. Legitimate FC's are Placard gated from enjoying the airship\sub minigame completely. That kind of sucks. I feel the workshop should have never been tried to housing. Having it a useable instance building in the city like the Squadron Barracks seems like a better idea.

The big thing to remember is that there is a posted official rule about this.

There is actually a check that prevents you from just creating a FC and buying a new house with an alt. If you are already in a FC with another toon on that account it will not let you purchase the plot. They get around this buy adding a lvl 1 alt into the newly created fc on a dummy account that did buy a house and then the original fc members leave. The lvl 1 alt becomes the new leader and bypasses the restrictions of owning one FC per server per account. Taking purposeful action to circumvent a game restriction is an exploit I would think.

Someone actually shared with me numbers on how many single person FCs are out there per server. It is way lower then I would have guessed and interesting to see.

While it's relatively low compared to total houses, that's still several thousand houses that could be owned by players who don't currently have a house.

It's not a good precedent to say it's okay for some players to break the rules as long as not all players are doing it. What happens when more decide they belong in the group that gets to break the rules?

1: I still don't see you complain about personal houses being left unattended for months or even years (even though that's a much bigger issue in terms of volume).
2: What rules are being broken and if so, why is nobody being punished?

Just to remind you, it's been stated numerous times that the temporary restriction on FC housing ownership doesn't actually work. If the game allows you to purchase as many FC houses you want under the same service account, without relying on transferring ownership to a character on a separate service account, how in the world are you breaking any rules? Additionally, the information on that page is not present ingame...

Plot is relinquished [placard does state for Relocation or Sale during their respective phases] > Invisible 10-hour-timer starts for Relocation (that's 42% of a real day to decide). Once Relocation timer is up no more Relocation and the plot goes up for sale > next 0-4 hours that plot can not be bought (that is minimum of 58% of a real day to login and see there could potentially be a plot up, given the relocation goes unphased) > 4-12 hours the invisible timer starts (like the current one) > invisible timer goes off or after 12 hours > the plot goes up for insta-purchase. The minimum amount of turn around time would be 14 hours from relinquish to purchase with max being 26 hours. Relocation still gets priority but timers favor a buyer. Lastly, the knowledge of a rough buy window with only an 8 hour spam window is priceless. What do you think?
