The only twitch channel I'm willing to sub to is Asmongold. Asmongold did say that he will stream FFXIV on July 3rd and he has brought so much awareness to FFXIV. Let be honest here, he'll decimate every other streamer in view count.

From what I'm told twitch streams don't actually count if you're not in a hot tub or aggressively licking a microphone.
Before we agree to anything, what's his lick to click ratio?
Just marry him already.
I would like to participate in this campaign by gifting a Mr Happy sub to MPK.
It's almost like the marketing team is daring him to play. Almost.
"The only Twitch streamer I'm willing to throw my money at is the one who most definitely needs the money the least."
GOD NO! He spent the last 5+ years crapping on FF14 constantly and calling it a weeb trash game without even remotely trying to learn anything about the game.
God I hope he doesn't come to this game. The guy is a toxic magnet....Him and his whole team of followers. Can he just stay over there at WoW city.
I hope Asmon and his merry band of dimwits stays as far away from this game as possible.
So unless I missed something, he still hasn't played a single second of FFXIV, right?
July 2nd I think. Something is very strange about this date because it is 3 days after the WoW patch goes live which shoulddddd be keeping him very busy as a completionist that goes for all the mounts and achievements. I have to wonder if Square Enix reached out to him.
The betas in chat rn malding they might get called out for being bads lol
Who? Never heard of them/her/him.
Your insistence in this matter is what precisely Asmongold hates. You're not doing any favor to him by the way. I watched a video which he said he just wants to play the game and not be forced to do anything by his community and just enjoy playing the game. Other streamers tell him to just not stream the game because this. And despite I don't follow him, I totally agree that he should be let alone while play the game.
Most streamers doesn't like this kind of obsession with them.
Asmongold may soon become the most popular FFXIV streamer ever, so this is a pretty good suggestion.
I've seen a few Asmon vids on youtube and I quite liked them, but my knowledge of him is pretty vague to be honest.
Just as a general thing though, if someone is toxic and their presence would make the game worse then welcoming them might be a nice thing to do, but it would be bad for the game and the people that currently enjoy it. Being nice is not the same as being good, and if you feel a course of action will lead to a greater good then you should be prepared to sacrifice being nice to achieve it.
A lot of people just don't care about streamers.
He's not even playing yet. lol
When he starts playing SE will most likely bite his hand off to join the promotion.
Also, the people in the thread complaining about how Asmon is going to bring a load of toxic people to the game. You're pretty toxic yourself btw and it's so tiresome to read the same thing by the same people in every Wow/Asmon thread. The game isn't going to change overnight Asmongold isn't Dalamud, chill.
...Who?
And what is all this unnecessary noise about this toxic lad who apparently insulted FFXIV for several years and now suddenly wants to jump ship? Sounds to me like an opportunist who knows that Endwalker will be an even greater success than Shadowbringers and needs a means/methods to maintain his viewership and relevance.
What a farce-- I'm done here.
Indeed-- I'm a legacy player who has played this wonderful game since beta of 1.0-- currently taking my fourth charcater (Leo Dracarys) through Stormblood. Been loyally playing here since when we were less than 100k on the servers, still here now that we're over 22 million.
Thus, I will absolutely smirk in irritation (and clearly speak my mind) when I see a whole bunch of glorification for some toxic streamer coming over to this game.
We...are nowhere near 22 million active players. We might have about a couple million at best (and even that might be a stretch), though that number is probably poised to go up given recent events with a certain other MMO. It'd be nice, but 22 million will simply never happen. I will happily eat these words should such a massive gain happen though.
22 million registered accounts is not be be sniffed at--

Now that we have that established, let's shelve this derailment and return to the matter at hand--- the Twitch collaborative campaign and the illusion of "interesting" streamers.
To be extremely fair here... we both know alot of those accounts are either bots or dead accounts that aren't playing like we are. WE really don't know the -true- amount of players in the game as neither Square nor Blizzard share those numbers. I'm sure it's ALOT tho to be extra fair.
What are you taking to believe we have 22mil "active" accounts, its a bloated number. Ppl who quit 5 years ago are in this list, ppl who tried to play the game for 5min with a free account are in this, bots are in this.
The last statistic i saw said we have 3mil and wow 2.7 on retail and 2.4 on classic, and XIV celebrated it, which is fine i suppose but can we get away from saying everything XIV does is divine and the best thing ever?
Games that are backed into a corner improve the most because they take the risk, remember 1.0? It was in a corner and did improve ... if we never face critic nothing will improve and we are on the same 30 ilv spiral we have been on for years. Let me guess a dungeon at 81 83 85 87 89 3 at 90, a Trial at kinda 83 and maybe 87 and one at 90, another set of role quests. Let me guess lv 560 for fresh lv 90 bla bla bla
Asmon funnily enough is prolly the biggest ffxiv content creator, so let him join. If he looks at a FFXIV vid and comments on it while 50k ppl watch, that has more reach then if 100 ppl play the game and lets be real if a XIV streamer break 1-2k thats a good day, Asmon goes up to 70k and stop hating internet personas, dude also did a charity stream with over 300k for kids this week.
Do you hate the AVGN for being angry? Its a character.
You know that is a confected number of all accounts/trail accounts that have ever logged on over the whole lifespan of ARR, right?
By that token WoW would be sitting somewhere in the above 100 of millions.
Even at its peak in the mid - Wrath era (when Blizzard still published numbers on these things) WoW claimed to have 12 million active players - which is probably true-ish.
For comparison Fortnite claims to have 350 millions players - though this is obviously not the amount of people logging in daily.
I'd guess that FFXIV has more daily players than WoW currently - though not more active accounts overall. Given the Classic/Retail split WoW still holds more players in total but the content drought and the obvious shift to FFXIV content has successfully chipped away at those numbers.
