been trying to get the Lyon Field Notes from the Southern Front. i’ve tried getting into the Lyon Duel but to be quite honest i always end up getting a vuln stack in it’s associated Skirmish, and end up not qualifying.
i know it was added as a potential drop from CLL, but i’ve done several runs now and i’m not entirely convinced it even exists as a drop, or if it does exist as a drop that gating what is effectively collectable lore bits behind such an absurdly low drop rate that requires a lot of uncontrollable circumstance.
the only thing i really need from CLL is the Lyon Notes, so every run i do that ends up not dropping it is effectively time wasted finishing my relics.
i really feel like they need to increase the drop rate on older area field notes.

Red Chocobo is a problem but you can take reflect and lost swift to make the fight much easier -

i don’t really understand what being a 5 star has to do with this, it’s lore. it’s not like it’s a playing card or some other thing that can be used in other content. it’s just...lore. and even if i were to succeed at no hitting red choctober i’d still have to get into the Duel, and if i were lucky enough to get into the duel i would still need to be fortunate to win it. this on top of actually being in an instance that has the necesary fate spawn while i’m in there, and that i get into the fate.
all of this to get...lore. not to mention i have a pile of bozjan coins from the southern front that aren’t serving any purpose because i don’t really need the southern front gear. -

well its not just for lore you also get a bike for getting all of them which is reason why most people are gathering field notes atm,
I don't think you can get "Fortunate" with duels you need preparation and correct set up to beat them especially Lyon.
the Stars on the cards determined the rarity Lyon is 5 star so his notes either require a lucky drop or win the duel which requires effort and it can drop from Castrum it took me 47 castrums but it dropped for me. -

you have a point, i guess i’m just frustrated because having farmed each of the resistance weapons through to the pre-5.55 step months before patch day, i don’t really stand to gain much running CLL, and i know i’m not that skilled of a player to not get vuln stacks in CE’s, let alone do a Duel. :/

The Red Chocobo Critical is pretty difficult, escpecialy with a lot of people, i got into the duel with lyon only twice and that were when only a few people joined the red chocobo fight. It is a lot less chaotic if fewer people are in, it has much less life you have to compensate for the dead people.
Winning a duel rewards you not only with the lore piece, but also a title and 99 bozjan chests
Make sure you always got the required lost actions (mana wall, dispell) ready and watch a guide of the fights or else you will not succeed.
The most difficult part of the red chocobo in my opinion is dodging the red circles, there is a easy strategy for them, but often gets screwed over because other people drop their aoe thngs in the way. -

There are cheese strats to clear the southern front duels very fast if you got a caster leveled up enough. May still take a few attempts to get, but nothing ventured...
