Over Crowding (Gangos - Sjeros) Rant

Sorry if this is the wrong location to post this, as nothing else seemed appropriate, but, can we do something about the overcrowding around NPC's, for example in Gangos with Sjeros. I know that I can press "X" to remove nameplates, but, really do we have to have every person stack on top of the NPC's?

If you're using a mouse and keyboard, pressing 0 on your NumPad will automatically select the NPC standing in front of you. Then press it again to interact with them.

I’d also like to state that even overcrowded (with enough people to create the “crowd din”), Sjeros is selectable on PC without hitting numpad 0. Just make sure youve got an eye on him, and also limit the number of people available on screen.

Yeah, all those people on my screen really limits my immersion. :mad:

An efficient solution would be for the game to force players to log out if they're idle for more than half an hour. It'd bring about other benefits, too, I suspect - such as lessening the likelihood of a server having a queue upon logging in.

Plenty of improvements, yes! But the queue, alas... no. It's just weirdly worded, but it's the amount of people currently logging in at the same time as you, not the amount of people that the game is waiting to log out. It only lets in a select amount at any given moment, which is why the queue goes at a pretty specific speed. It's letting people in on a server tick. There aren't 25 people logging out at that moment to let you in, the server hit its "maximum log ins from service accounts at a specified time" limit, so there's 25 people waiting with you to log in.

That's why when the whole server situations happened in Crystal and the EU datacenters, their log in queues were in the 1000s. There weren't 1000 people already logged in playing (everyone got kicked off). There were 1000 people waiting for the log in limit.

I have noticed alot of people with AFK tags on them, and yes, I have gone afk for over 10 minutes getting kicked out of the instance, but why can't they return them out of the instance somewhere away from the NPC that lets you in. Like on the beach or near the tent?

They have implemented the 30 minute afk timer in the past, and in fact its still intact in Firmanent. It should be trivially easy to add it to Gangos. That said, that many people may actually BE in the area right now. It's where groups of friends gather before going into the various zones, but someone might be running late. We had a friend get stuck in a bad Wreath of Snakes (two wipes before clear.... ugh) so he was about 10 minutes late for our scheduled daily DR run together. We definitely occupied space in the zone during that!

I Have no problem with the amount of people in that zone, my issue is why do they have to stack on top of the NPC for. Reminds me when I played Wow during the christmas event and literally every person had their damn mount out and on top of the npc's so you couldnt find them.....

It gets pretty bad around quest NPCs, too... especially when one person decides to park himself on top of his Behemoth mount right on top of the NPC in question =/ Yeah, keybinds are there and such to get around it, but do people really need to be that guy?

Go to System Configuration, then Other, adjust Character and Object Quantity to Minimum. Hold click and adjust the camera so you can click it properly.
You could also adjust the nameplates of players to display as initials in Character Configuration, Display Name Settings.

I have name plates set to off for everyone but party and friends. I'm on pc with a controller and I have very little trouble selecting npc's.
