Game Locked & Cant Log In

I attempted to use the Return option;
My character did NOT return,
I cannot move,
I cannot logout or exit the game,
and after force closing the client,
I can no longer log in.

I know other players have had the same experience. A LS-mate tried to use the Inn and the same bug occurred (byebye Ul'dah Inn??)

server crashed im guessing, we were in the first GC battle and all went R0, then got kicked off the server. 5 hours to do maint, 30 minutes up and BOOOMM CRASSSHHHH. lol Good job SE. /clap

i got same i crashed and can't login i got the character log screen and my char. is not there :)

Unnecessary. Posting what went wrong, what you were doing when it happened and what happens afterwards is useful information that can aid in repairing the damage. Things will happen. I've seen much, much worse from games that have been around for years. Please keep your feedback positive. Thank you.

Update:

After waiting for 5 minutes I made it to my character select screen.
However, characters are not displayed and selecting one does nothing.

Can we please had a Mod reply to the issue? Just to know that it is being looked into?

This is what I have found, after trying to teleport from gridania to camp tranquil, our party became locked.

After an LS member (on VOIP) tried to port from the Horizon area TO gridania, he is now locked as well.

I am having the same issue with a characterless character select. There are options and glowing rings, but no 3d models.

This is on Besaid/Balmung

Got the bug also. Died during Deus ex Machina and went to return and my screen got stuck so i quit the game and now i can't select my character.

Had logged out in Inn room last night, in Limsa.
Logged in, moved around room and looked at bed & wardrobe, looked at new menu items.
Went to door and clicked to exit.
Am now frozen, can not move about.
Can not exit game.
Can not leave Inn room.

Hotel California!

I guess Meteor hit without us noticing.

After completing the quest "Careless Whispers" I attempted to use the Return command. The command did not return me to my home point. Instead, the game froze and would not let me move or perform any actions. After force-closing the client, my character name appears in the login screen, but the model does not display, nor am I able to log in with the character. It just remains at the character select screen.

No, its not the Inn specifically. It seems to be the transitioning of maps in general. I have never entered an Inn, my home point was Ul'dah Aeyther and I received the crash.

I am assuming it is a server issue.

I am having the same issue here on Hyperion. After completing the quest "Deus Ex Machina" attempeted to teleport back to Limsa Lominsa, only to not zone out and was unable to move. After waiting 10 minutes attemped to log out, unsuccessfully. Forcibly closed game and attempted to log back in after waiting 3 minutes. At player lobby, unable to see my character model or log in.

Similar occurance for me in Hyperion :(

Yeah people were shouting about not teleporting/return cause you'd get stuck in game, so I tried to Choco to Quarrymill instead and there went the game. Garuda is a trixy lady.

I really dont wanna delete my character...i was just on my way to gridania to get drg unlocked but cant select my character...she gone im sad.....

There is no reason to delete your character...youre over reacting...drastically. The problem is being addressed. Please read the others posts.

Too funny with all the /thread comments.

From what I have read so far only Balmung, Ragnarok, and Hyperion were having the issue... It's not a big deal. It seems as if some servers may still be up.

Just clarifying that Balmung is also down because they haven't stated (on the main page) that the issue is being addressed, as far as I've seen.

In other-words... Take this time to grab a chill pill and give your affliction for the "/" key a break.

I have the same problem on Ridill.

Excalibur is having the same issues as well. Everyone doing the GC garuda quest got stuck at the quarry mill - we tried to run far away from where people were getting stuck but it still bugged us and locked us out.

Happened to me too today on Ridill. Movement locked up after attempting a return to Limsa's inn from Nanawa Mines, after killing the client after 5 minutes of no action logging in gives me this:
