Post #18 I was just listening to some music one day and found the connections. This all made since back in FEBUARY (thread should say FEB not march)

What do I win? Clearly I wasn't the only one :D but it is fun to see the connections to Let it Die video game.

Reading that whole thread and it's funny how quick people say NO to everything.

Honestly reaper was a good chance because of the shirts. People just didn't want to believe a melee necromancer would happen in ffxiv

I thought it dealt with voidsent, with monsters from another shard. I didn't think it had any connection to death.

I didn't want it because it was too trope like, too predictable and FF has plenty of magical melee jobs that could be used instead.

Not all of it of course but I was the first to suggest alot of the mechanics they've used. I've been asking for a Scythe based class for years. And I was the one who suggested using a ghost instead of skeletons for Necromancer. And yes the class is called Reaper I know.

I said like a year and a half ago that if we get Necromancer it'll summon voidsent instead of the undead.

But my idea was for a tank and how cool it'd be if it summoned Anima during its burst window, now we know who will summon Anima...

I think the cool thing about the shirt hints is that it seemed too easy that a Reaper esque job was what it would be. I think many thought it would be so much more then it was. But it was more simple then what a whole lot of players thought.

Too bad there's not a dark and edgy healer to complete the edgelord trinity with dark knight and reaper.

Maybe in 2 expansions you'll get a witch doctor or Exorcist to fulfill the Edgelord Trinity.

That's actually a great idea for a healer Edgelord. I was thinking Necromancer was all that would fit but both of those work great. The question is what tools and weapons would they use?

Nothing edgier than a Hemomancer.

Yeah I always thought 'Reaper' as a name was a bit too on the nose, but it's JP and they like names that sound a bit basic to us in the west.
My personal hope was for 'Ravager' (which I realise probably sounds just as "basic", but it has precedence in the franchise as a job or 'role' already) with a slightly less 'death-like' theme to it.

I don't consider Reaper to be a Necromancer in any sense.
XIV has Necromancers, they're established in lore and design, and Reaper doesn't fit either of them, but in a broader sense, Reaper fills the same niche that Necromancer would.

I'm not expecting any more Tank or Healer jobs in the games lifetime tbh. I reckon a Caster for 7.0 and a Phys Ranged for 8.0 will be it.

Didn't... EVERYONE was figuring Reaper was the next job?

There was theories about it since Ran'jit transformed himself against Thancred, so 2019.

Necromancer was a popular demand aswell but how to fit it in the lore, making it a neutral job and moraly acceptable?
Well summon a pet that looks like a lich/ghost from the void. But that wouldn't be a Necromancer anymore! Boom, Reaper.

It's all cute and all but don't worry, Reaper/Necromancer/Void Mage was expected by many for long.
