Just a couple of QoL changes for BLU I would LOVE, some trivial, some major...

I'll admit, it really takes a while to get accustomed to the Blue Mage. It's essentially Build-a-Job, but also allowing for true hybrid builds, and I've honestly fallen IN LOVE with it!!!

Of course, being a "Limited Job", it's presumably a lower priority than other jobs, as well it probably should be. Getting the Mirage Set was a VERY fun addition, after some years of the previous set (I also feel like the recent Peacelover's set channels what I imagine the Whalaqee probably wear, given the obvious Native American inspiration).

But hey, I've got a couple of things I think would see a HUGE improvement to the job, from really small changes, to larger stuff. In no particular order, here we go:

- Aetherial Mimicry should CYCLE between Roles. Having to stop everything, often times leave Duty, to go back to town, run around, manually clicking and examining one player at a time, to make sure I mimic the right role... just feels unnecessary.

- Ability to sort your chosen spells Alphabetically would be a HUGE improvement!!! Even better if you can sort the Spellbook itself alphabetically, numerically, or even by "rarity". But even just the chosen spells/loadout would be huge.

- Maybe put the little "blue mask" icon above the heads of enemies with a spell you haven't learned? That's about the only way I could see GENUINELY going out and exploring, instead of just "looking up a guide" on where to learn spells.

- For future spells, I kind of liked that learning "Exuviation" required something a little unorthodox; pulling two mobs and damaging the second. I would kind of like more stuff like that; maybe abilities only used while under certain status effects (even if completely unrelated, ie. "only uses Plasma Blast while Poisoned", etc).

- I'd like a spell that WILL NOT KILL an enemy, maybe something that will deal damage but won't reduce below 1 hp? I can't think of a TON of reasons this would be useful, but there was a scenario the other night it would've be useful.

- What about learning "Passive" skills? So for those that don't find themselves using *all* 24 spells regularly, you could swap some out for Passive bonuses that, although weak, might be more beneficial? Might also ease a bit of the learning-curve of the BLU, letting players focus on more Passives until they get accustomed to the class (I'm thinking things like "increase Ice damage by 10%" or "increases Physical damage by 5%", fairly minor, or more nuanced like "reduces damage taken by 20% while incapacitated").

- I kind of love that the Blue Mage has a few rods that have Bombs, plus the new Mirage earring which is also a blue (Ice?) Bomb. I'd kind of love to maybe see more Monsters celebrated via weapon or armor cosmetics. Maybe somehow being able to unlock a Cactuar-inspired set (or Volt's jacket from The Bouncer, which a picture of a Cactuar crossed-out saying "No Escape"), more Bomb-gear, or even some Chocobo stuff (I LOVE Choco Meteor!).

- Speaking of Chocobo's, it would be kind of dope if you could actually bring your Chocobo's into dungeons when solo'ing. Food for thought! (doesn't have to be a BLU-specific thing)

- I've always wanted to see a "Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest" (aka "Final Fantasy USA" in Japan) reference in FFXIV, but considering it's often seen as a "lesser" entry in the series, perhaps it could be referenced in future BLU quests? Maybe Benjamin and Tristam show up via boat somewhere... honestly, the specifics don't even matter; it's just a great opportunity to have those AMAZING Battle and Boss music-themes remade for FFXIV!!!

- Kind of a meaningless flavor ability, but it would be cool to be able to "Transform" into a random of monster temporarily. Even better, if you get a custom model of the monster with "Azuro's Mask" over its eyes!

That's all I've got, really! Like I said, I've been having an absolute blast with the Blue Mage the past few days,

I'd love to see it transition into a "real" job for content, even if it ends up being weaker then most through some lazy/quick balancing.

It's great content it gives people a reason to do the old savage content sync'd.

As per usual the only people who are calling to cut it are casuals who don't do savage.

I personally think they should add a level skip no one levels it legitimately anyways.

I’m beginning to think MPK is getting tired of trolling... most of these replies have been generally okay with a tossed-in dig at casuals.

I don’t personally play BLU but I think from what I’ve seen it’s pretty legit. I’m gonna pick it up after I level everything else.

I mean he's kinda right? Blue mage is the only job in the game that doesn't get half of its toolkit destroyed when syncing, so it can perform equally well whether its 50lvl or 70lvl content.
Pretty great way for people to experience old extremes/savages without having to rely on unreals, or having to deal with gutted job.

My personal wishes for BLUs:

- Make the tank role more reliable... Tank Mimicry gives no Tenacity benefits and the tankbuster mitigators all have cast times sometimes as long as the thing you're supposed to resist. Those tankbusters were designed with mitigators being instant cast, so I don't see why BLU's can't be like that.

- A filtering option for the spells... E.G. name, or type, or rank.

- Condensed Libra converted into an actual job mechanic with a dynamic elemental wheel for a gauge.

- More reasons to run the "endgame" for the job. Once you completed your spellbook, Carnivale Fights and don't need any extra seals, their content bears no meaningful rewards anymore. One idea is to add Revelation tomes to their silver and gold Blue Log entries.

- With the point above, let BLU go solo into deep dungeons for an achievement and leaderboard of their own. This would add a LOT to do with the job during its update downtime.

I just wanted to be able to run BLU with squadrons. Kinda expecting BLU's not going to be allowed to run with trusts once it gets its next update. And let us into Eureka. And Bozja, too, since that's probably also going to be locked out.

Kinda wish it got the big exp buff off of FATE's, too. Such a shame to take it out leveling, and have to intentionally avoid FATEs because they're still kinda pitiful. Shame, since BLU is great with FATEs otherwise.

Rez when healer specced should NOT have a CD.

Lots of tank CD's should be instant when tank specced. Having to cast them goes against what tanks need most.

Weapons actually having Intellect on them. BLU's are supposed to be overpowered. Mostly they're similar dps to others.

The weapons from Masked Carnivale? Give them 4-5 Materia Slots instead of two. Right now they're just glamour sticks.

But 100% agreed on having Aetherial Mimicry rotating. Locked during Combat.

I'd like to buy BLU spells with tomestones or something.

Even if you have friends, you'll need to find people to get in 8 man content they'll get... Nothing from it unless they are BLU themselves aswell.
I just level BLU and collect spells, knowing how popular this job is, let me complete it alone. At least it would be better than join a BLU group but telling them "Huuuuh I don't have this spell, this spell, this spell..."

Changes to spells when under Tank Mimicry:
Dragon Force, Cold Fog: Cast times removed, made instant, they have a long cooldowns to make up for it.
The Look, Diamond Back, Chelonian Gate, Revenge Blast: Cast times reduced to .95s
Cactguard: Can be used on yourself when in Tank Mimicry.

Changes when under Healer Mimicry:
Gobskin, Exuviation: Cast times reduced to .95s

Changes when under DPS Mimicry:
Moon Flute: Cast time reduced to 0.95s.
1000 Needles: Deals 1000 damage to each enemy instead of being shared.
Condensed Libra: In addition to it's Attenuation, it also deals 200 potency damage of the same type as the Attenuation.

Level 80 Spells:
As we're quickly gaining more spells than we'll ever use, they need to branch out a little into different types of actions, and I think we need Limit Break Spells. High potency spells that consume the limit gauge.
They could consume individual segments of the limit gauge, so that multiple BLUs can use their limit spells.

A marker on the job icon showing what mimicry a person is using, would make it much easier to quickly check what "role" each BLU has before going into dungeons. Especially in the cases where some people don't say anything and you have to re-do mimicry/spells after entering.

Under tank mimicry, all physical spells would be instant cast. This would make it a bit easier for tanking. Also make Mighty Guard instant cast.

Sod off. I recently got back into the BLU grind and the job is a ton of fun, even if it's not meant to be played through the story with. BLU's amazing versatility makes it super hype to try and solo stuff with.

I disagree, as someone who did the BLU raids, it very much is a MP hungry job and limiting rezzes is not only good for the job's MP economy but it forces coordination and make less room for death-causing mistakes, and I think that's fun.

When it comes to damage, I think BLU is good enough, really.
And I really enjoy aetherial mimicry forcing people to interact together in a MMORPG, even if it's not chatting.

I honestly think Moon Flute should (under DPS mimicry) still let you do something but at a heavy (60%?) penalty. I feel that is kind of an awful to have a spell that important for the dps output to literally lock you of doing anything for 12s... Just running around. It feels like a bad design to me.

I just want to see more incentives being added. There's no one to play BLU with. A pittance in Allied seals isn't incentive when Hunts have existed for years. Savage and the Morbol mount is great, but there's nothing much in-between. If old Savage progression isn't your cup of tea, then what are you hunting all the spells and clearing the Carnival for? You have no endgame.

The BLU log needs a major rework, the weekly target needs far better rewards and some midcore long term goals need to be added, like one mount for clearing everything on Normal with all BLU and another for clearing every EX. I think BLU's in a great spot, but so few people are playing it.

Also it'd be nice to see a little more content open to BLU. Roulette if full premade. Eureka. PotD with ranking excluded.
