Scythe of Death!
Reaper makes me spew boiling hot bust everywhere.
I wanna try it but I just don’t like melee positionals at all. I’m sure it will have some so have fun to anyone that’s gonna try it out.
Didn't expect them to add a sort of pet assist to it. Makes the job class even cooler. And the fact we can fuse with it temporarily for greater damage...can't wait to play it on my alt for the expansion. :D
It looks neat, but will we get glamour options for the spooky Void buddy?
I don't know. I know they said it was something completely new but, just on what we've seen, it sort of just looked like HW Dark Knight x ShB Dark Knight.
I hope it will have some sort of casting mechanic. Like maybe combo to generate a resource to cast then that let's you be taken over by the ghosty. I wish it had been Templar/Judge but at least it's more "battle mage" feeling than current melee jobs.
this class looks like everything I hoped it would be, for the first time I think I might pick up a class before I do the MSQ.
I suspect it will operate like SMN's Dreadwyrm Trance in that you are building resources to expend as modified/buffed abilities in a buff state.
Im maining reaper as soon as it comes out its about, time we have a real dark class, that realky uses dark evil abilitys plus looks like it shapeshifted
Was interested when I thought they might be adding a scythe job.
Am no longer interested seeing the actual aesthetics and the goofy death spirit.
"Heres the DRK rework you guys asked for."
When I first started I fell in love with Dark Knight then out of love with it (only gameplay-wise, rest is still awesome) because it was a tank and I find tanking boring.
I'm glad this job lets me live the same fantasy but with an actual rotation.
If it's fun to play and they don't do something huge with MNK I might main this :o.
I think they looked incredibly.
I kinda do hope they update some of the visuals on other Jobs tho, for example the basic 123 combo on DRG as well as most of MNK's animations look so outdated and it really stands out even more when you compare them to Reaper.
Reaper looked so fresh and modern.
It seems Reaper's phase shift will either augment their abilities or allow them to pull of a gunbreaker-like combo. Either way it's very interesting aesthetically and I'm really looking forward to give it a shot! It's about time that DPS get a heavy weapon class. I love the aesthetics of the weapons which tanks have, but sometimes I want to bring that identity as a DPS.
For those who didn't see the reveal.

Finally, all the Fake Dark Knights can move on. No more great swords standing idle, looking edgy. Dark Knight main still.
I'll be staying as a Samurai main, but I can picture Reaper getting a fair amount of play.
I'm a touch curious as to where this job is going to fit into the scheme of things lorewise, seeing as we're casually tapping into one of the most forbidden sources of power in the setting that even BLM was reluctant to mess with.
Then again, the Thaumaturge's guild is known to perform sanctioned voidsent summonings for the sake of training or entertainment, so I suppose this might just be an extreme extension of that.
I would love to try it but I just don’t like positionals. I tried monk and got so turned around with the positionals lol. Hopefully they won’t have that many like Samurai.
We basically got the Ran jit job except edgier and darker. Props to the new job reaper. Even works with the jojo memes of a stand user in some of the poses.
It's meh for me. I'll level it at some point, but scythes are a dumb weapon imo and the anesthetics of the job do nothing for me.
Here's hoping they give MNK or SAM some fun new skills.
I'm not sure about Reaper yet, guess I'll wait for the job actions video to decide.
However I'm a bit concerned about the flashy attack animations. Multiple Reapers in alliance raids may make it hard to see lol
I do like the use of the lost twelfth in their lore, even if I am not a huge fan of scythes. Also I dislike the weird cuts in both the shown male and female AF gear.
Shiva's(ARR) p2 music just got a little more interesting, did she secretly know about this job existing (most likely not due to the time difference in actual content design but in game "Fear the Reaper" can have new meaning now)
I can't wait to kill them in PvP.
Me liek it. Prolly gonna be my first class on EW. Looks like it's gonna be awesome to raid with!
Tentatively excited, now to see what the skills are to determine whether I will try it.
. . . . I almost spit my drink as I saw this announcement lol. Reaper, melee/magic, mini-transformation vibes, dark themed, pet, if dark pet will be a spirit to get around zombie issues, etc.. I know I, and a few others, slapped a few hypotheticals against the wall so I'm not claiming exact prediction (though I do want to say I've a half decent record of aiming out potentials now, especially in the face of people who claim they're not possible, summoner, beast tribe, ronso, they'll split race and then implement another later, etc), and having a lot of people say "no that's not possible, they can't / wont do that"... and then they did do that is just like the picture-esq "XD" moment lol.
Also imo continued evidence that they do consider feedback consistently (to inspire their own choices, not to develop to other people's- so of course it's their own but that they'll spin it with player's desires).
More specific to topic- it looks quite cool, and I look forward to playing the job based on the visual theme and vibe alone; however, like most jobs, I think how it plays is really going to make or break that theme. Although, seeing how Dancer and Gunbreaker both have some interesting mechanics, I think there is a decent potential that it's going to feel quite nice. Not to say the earlier jobs don't have neat things, Paladin is still one of my favorites, but I feel jobs that get designed with a larger scope at one time will feel a little different when you encounter them than jobs that had to 'evolve' to that point. So it's always interesting to see jobs designed from the fresh perspective on the whole scenery vs jobs that evolved to that scenery.
Looking forward to trying both Sage and Reaper. Really want to know about the skills though, a job isn't just skills and it's not just visuals, but we've a lot of the visuals.. time to know the mechanics!! I don't want to wait! lol.
I'm exited to see more Reaper looks really cool ! But before deciding if it's a new main for me, i need to know how it plays. I'll try it when it comes out aniway.
I wonder if they'll give Blackbossom's Scythe glamour to the Reapers, since they do use, well, a scythe.
