New Races.

A few hours after FanFest, how do you think the fanbase of this game will react to the implementation of new races seeing what happened with the Vieras / Hrothgar? All this talking about a hypothetical case :rolleyes:

Overall? The fan base would take it very well. More is more and more is "good".

This forum? I'm sure the people would be up in arms that another race was made yet Vieras / Hroth have limited hair / helm capabilities.

won't happen i believe yoshi already said they won't add anymore races plus they still have not finished the last two races they added

I personally don't think we currently need new races. I think we're good.

I know they wont be adding male/female ronso, people will be angry ppl will defend it.. Same with the job not being necro

How do i know this because i wish to happan and life hates me so it wont

I only want the dwarf race to be playable, they look so fun.

Let's talk about new races after they fix the current ones, mmkay?

I would be mad knowing how much of a failure hrothgars were and them publically acknowledging how much more permanent work it adds to making new gear sets.

There won't be any new races. I don't think SE will add new ones while old ones are still not finished.

If they add races it will be male Viera and female Hrothgar. I doubt we'll see them.

There won't be new races. It's a long, LONG stretch but if we get something it would be male Viera and female Hrothgar, but I HIGHLY doubt it.

Pretty sure Yoshida said that they won't be adding anymore races, because of the amount of work it take to make every ingame item fit onto a new body type.

Also let's maybe get female Hrothgar and male viera before even thinking about more races.

Personally even knowing how they did Hrothgar (don't like how they have to fantasia to change their hair, and don't like how they can't walk with a straight back, or how they miss out on a lot of headgear appearance) if it was another proper beast race that would make me more excited than whatever they might have planned for their Endwalker duties. In spite of the three issues I mentioned, I like playing Hrothgar. They're the only non Hyur, Lala or Elezen race I like the design for.
If it was another cute/sexy demi-human race I wouldn't care in the least.

just imagining having Horns, Wings, and Tail seems pretty lit to me.

Alright, since you wanted to get angry at me about my post, I'll answer the hypothetical. If it happened, I'm pretty sure most of the base would be extremely upset. People were ALREADY upset that Hrothgar and Viera are still locked to one gender, and I feel like adding another race would just stir up hate.

Personally I'd love it if they eventually added Bangaa as a playable race. Bangaa and Seeq not being playable in XII was a huge waste ("let's have this amazing fantasy setting with a lot of different races but you only get to play humans and 1 bunny girl"), but Seeq would be very problematic to implement as a race due to their body shape requiring major adjustments to armor.

Also maybe Burmecians but Square seems to have forgotten the rat people even exist.

In the hypothetical.

SE: So, no new hairstyles, no Male Viera or Female Hrothgar, instead here's a new flavor of Midlander because technical limitations, pls understand.

This right here. When Hrothgar (Ronso) and Viera (Viis) were added for 5.0, it was explained that this was going to be the last time they implemented a new race to the game. If I'm not mistaken, it was Hrothgar, specifically, that Yoshida wanted to add despite the fans desire for Viera (dating back to the pre-ARR race addition vote) and, due to the resurgence in popularity for Viera thanks to the Ivalice Raids (and showing how they'd look via Fran) Viera was added at the same time.

Edit: To answer the hypothetical nature of the topic, I don't think such a thing will occur for the aforementioned reason although I would love for them to go back on that declaration and add more. There's plenty of available races in the franchise that'd I'd like to see (the mentioned Gria would be fantastic imho, or the ratfolk as seen in FFIX though I wonder if the design team would believe it'd clash with the Qiqirin) so, I wouldn't be quite as excited if they announced another new race unique to FFXIV.

Bangaas were the only race in XII that knew how to use dragoon skill Jump too lol
I personally like the Bangaas, I appreciated them a lot in that game

Didn't they say that Viera/Hrothgar were going to be the last playable races added to the game? I recently watched the live events before Shadowbringers and they said that implementing new races in the game takes a lot of time and effort and they weren't planning on doing it anymore. I would excpet the female/male version of the latest 2 new races if anything, but doubt that will happen.

Even in a hypothetical sense it'd be a ridiculously dumb move, from all angles, to make entirely new races when Hroth and Viera are not only gender locked, they're also limited in the most important character customization feature [hairstyles], and head gear options.

If they propose to graphically update and enhanced the currently existing races, however...

That comeback would only make sense if you made a new topic.

We just need to fill in Male Viera and Female Hrothgar for races.

Then they need to go back and give the old race models some TLC since it's painfully obvious how much cleaner Viera's model is. Then there's also the issues of hairstyles for the existing Viera and Hrothgar...

I would suddenly know a few dozen more people who would like to try the game out. But for the sake of simplicity, just send all of their checks to me, I'll take care of it.

I doubt there will be any new races added. Male Viera and female Hrothgar probably won't happen either, but I guess we'll see in a few hours.

Hypothetically, I'd love to see Ivalice moogles as a new small race. I'd love to be able to play as them. And people who don't like them would love to beat them up in pvp XD

Reallistcally though, unless it's the missing genders for hrothgar and viera, then I don't see anything being added. I honestly see people being disappointed. I hope I'm proven wrong though.

I'm not sure what the point of this hypothetical scenario is beyond letting a lot of people write about how they'd be angry about something that hasn't even happened, and isn't going to.

Surely there's already enough negativity in the discussion without literally making up new things to complain about.

I know its a hypothetical, but it would be a very poor choice on their part while V/H are still incomplete

To be honest I'd be fine with Loporitts as a playable race. It's literally a rip of the XII moogle model minus the wings and pom. I've been saving the free Fantasia for it since ARR.

I would love that as well XD. Sadly I don't think it's gonna happen :'(

Seriously though, I did NOT see that coming. Not in a million years. The Female Hrothgar announcement was also a surprise. I just assumed they would continue to ignore that for awhile.

Im happy its offically coming but i wanna cry cuz thats probably another 2 years

The ivalice moogle dream is over... No more new races... I guess I can just look at the Lopurrets and imagine I guess... T_T

... Ah well. SUPER longshot anyways. Happy to see Male Vera being added and female Hrothgar on the way.

This isn't gonna stop me though. I will follow the mogifesto of yesteryear and start doing designs and animation for what I believe Ivalice moogles/Lopurrets would be like as a playable race! Gonna load up blender and start practicing, maybe show progress and designs and ideas here.

Pointless? Yes. But it'll keep me busy lol
