Elementalist/Shaman

As a new class/job I would see Elementalist/Shaman as a melee type with elemental based buffs and debuffs.

They would dual weild daggers and wear light armor. They can fill up the role of an off-tank with earth based spells similar to stoneskin and other spells to mitigate damage. They can also buff the party with elemental armors, spells that add elemental proprieties to weapons etc. They could also debuff mobs with spells like ivy that slow movement or stall the enemy and DOT spells.

They could use TP based attacks too.

You start off as Shaman and the job is elementalist.

Req: 30 Shaman, 15 conj, 15 thau

What you guys think?

Although I'm not keen on the name you suggest, I like the idea behind the job and its skills.

Geomancer is probably closest thing in a FF game that we have.

First thing that popped into my head was this thread is guna be full of WoW hate.

Well of course I'm not against what you've just described, especially since that's a similar description to what they were planning on doing with Arcanist/Geomancer in the first place.

Green Mage is the job you are looking for


Geomancer is the base like mrd,cnj etc.

Green mage is time, this is more elemental manipulation which is Geomancer.

the thief in FFXI had only one dagger and a shield ;) except ninja as a subjob.

At most it is green mage, otherwise the other melee/elemental is Red mage

would fullfil the skills which have been removed. slowga, hastga ... gravity damage spell is like scourge. (visually)

time mage would definatley the most interesting mage for me now.. weakening targets and also do damage with gravity and meteor, sounds great. (like thm was before)

more interesting than Black mage imho

Sure, but I think it is a bit different in XIV while I think of Ninja beeing the job for THF class.

it cant be the job for thief, because thief is a job.

dont mix it up:

what we have in FFXI?

classes in FFXIV:

thaumaturge, conjurer, puglist etc. (all have been inventions)

jobs in FFXIV:

white mage, black mage, warrior.... thief (will be in the same league, because its a traditional ff job)



they have to invent a new class for each job.. it wont work in an other way.. because the job is just built on the class and has the same weapon.

Aw sure, sorry my mistake. But THF will get dagger as weapon I think. I don't know how they want to do this since GLA was the only class using dagger until now, but I think it will happen. I hope they will find a possibility to give players the option of dual-wielding instead of using a shield. Was cool in XI.

and that is why the current job/class system isnt thought out very well..

its a patchwork and nothing more.

I think the class will be Thief but called something different, maybe Bandit and then the job could be ninja. Unless they make ninja a pug job.

Agreed. That's why I mentioned a Geomancer type of class. They are a bit of a meele/mage class. Giving them buffs and debuffs would make them feel different then anything else and make them quite useful in a party.

Geomancer would need bad ass level design to play right unless they have ablitys to change element of there surroundings which would have to happen.
