Do want?
Sometimes I would like to play hide and seek in Ul'dah by chasing the chat bubbles you know.
Edit: Oh, and please let it be optional. ^^

As an option?
Yes.
As the only option?
No.
Unless they can be turned off, no thanks.
I hate them enough in Aion.
[Thanks for the offer, but I'll have to pass.] Seriously, I have no desire to have chat bubbles cluttering up my screen. There is already going to be an absurd level of screen clutter with the new UI, we don't need more.
Of course, optional would be nice.
You're avin a bubble!?
No thanks old chap.
PSO2 Please check it
Optional chat bubbles would be nice. For some conversations at least, I get to look at the character speaking rather than diverting the eyes to the chatbox, though minor.
Off by default if using the FF14 classic interface.
edit: Linking to UI board as well.

I love options, as others have pointed out. I would turn it on for me, but I wouldn't want anyone else to have them if they didn't want them. :)
I agree, optional chat bubbles for everyone~ I dont like to read the log in the corner of my screen, I prefer to read bubbles =) when i'm in party of course
Maybe if it was an option, only MMO I could stick with that had this type of chat was Ultima Online. I can't stand them in the other MMO's. Actually I forget how typing took place in UO now..
The main thing is this. Sometimes, WHM doesn't stare at party chat. Having chat bubbles on, he/she can see me or somebody unleashing the Caplocks on top of their keyboard saying "MEDIIICCCC!!!!" and immediately heal that target. xD
I haven't seen it done in an MMO myself (I know some do, I just haven't seen it myself), but Xenosaga III does this to absolutely amazing effect. It really streamlined the quest system and opened up a lot of interesting possibilities. You could actually organically "overhear" a conversation, rather than having to awkwardly walk up and talk to total strangers for your quests. If done tastefully, I think it could be even more useful in an MMO.
The landmines you would have to watch out for is taking one step forward and two back by making NPCs say the same things over and over again, which would take away from things, rather than adding to them. I don't know if it would be a good fit for FFXIV necessarily, but I don't think it's something that should be discarded out of hand.
I have nothing meaningful or constructive to add to this discussion.
God this feature made me quit PSU lol. fkin bubbles everywhere.
Guys he said with the option

Not a fan of it .. but if its optional then sure why not.
I would personally like them, and I also agree they should be optional. Probably off by default too. That way they don't bother people who don't want them.
