They have, I have a pretty fast SSD and it's literally 1-2 seconds no matter where I teleport to.
That was one of the things they said in the live letter that they were improving loading times as well as server times. So the server "sees" you in the space a lot faster than it did before.
PC loading times were bottlenecked on purpose me thinks.
They were already instant for me on an SSD and have been almost as fast on the HDD I currently use, so I haven't noticed a difference.
I have an SSD in my old PS4 and the only difference I noticed was indeed the loading time in Limsa Lower Decks. The loading time was faster, but there were no players in sight, they startet to appear only after a few seconds (I was already at the retainer bell).
Every other zone was about the same loading time (wich was already fast. Not super fast like 1 second, but nothing to complain about).
Always had quick load times but this is amazing news for launch and for those who had some major issues with hunts. From reading Tint it sounds like part of it is just prioritizing getting you to be playing rather than loading it all at once, extra good for those hunts and such.

As announced.
I noticed it when jumping to Crystarium. Time was cut down by 2-3 seconds for me. It was really surprising, lol! :D
As a PS4 player, I dont notice anything in empty zones. Still roughly 40s to zone. I'll update with my loading into Limsa later. (To see if it at least loads in 40s like other zones)
Update: loading into Limsa took 18 seconds. Which is vastly quicker than it used to be on PS4. But it was also kinda empty compared to what im used to seeing, roughly only 25% of the number of players standing around. (My PC in the past took 8-10 seconds to load into Limsa with a 10k rpm HDD, no idea now, as I dont play on PC anymore)
update#2: loading into an inn only took 3 seconds on PS4 (i use the default HDD, not a SDD)
You need a fast drive, that is connected to a fast bus system, to really benefit from it.
In my PC I have a PCIe 4.0 Nvme SSD with 3,5GB/s read speed.
Not as fast as the PS5 one (5,5GB/s). But thats alot faster than anything that is connected via SATA or something similar (with some luck here you have some hundred MB/s).
With that the difference is huge.
I dont even have the Game installed in my SDD. And its nearly instant now
I think all load times have improved for pc because of the collision detection adjustment or something along the lines.
I play the game off an SSHD so I doubt Ill see any improvements.
cant tell the difference? mayby i havent played to much recently
Feels exactly the same to me. No difference at all. This is on a samsung 970 pro. My loading has always been really fast though.
I did, and I am delighted. Less load times means more game fluidity...so Im a happy little Elezen :)
Mine was about a second on my M.2 Gen 4 from teleporting from the Crystarium to my FC house in Lavender Beds. I was shocked. I was also surprised since my friend's PS5 was a few seconds slower. This is surprising since the PS5's SSD is a little faster than my own.
Load times used to usually take like three to five seconds for me on a SSD.
Now it generally takes only one or two seconds, and in some cases I've actually loaded in so quickly that the screen isn't even able to fully go to black before I arrive at my destination.
I'm curious as to what optimizations they applied since I already noticed pre 5.5 via my hardware monitoring program that the game starts to pre-load zones the moment you approach a zone line or start teleporting.
No noticeable difference for me.
PS5 is so powerful it's actually boosting PC performance.
In another way of saying it, haha. It has been like this for decades.
A lot of games design and limit around console before porting to PC. Always trying to adapt the least powerful hardware to maximize the audiences (because not everyone has the money and luck). I'm on PC with 10600k + 3080 FE and I know a lot of games don't really take advantage of it because of many port console games.
I notice it only in a few specific areas now, such as The Tempest.
Looks like what make load the area faster in that it loads area first then character second.
I load super fast but character then pop on screen after I arrive.
Which is good.

This appears to be good news for some players, so well done SE.
A problem still exists in world transfers with significant delays, to the point where people aren't even bothering, knowing the mark will be long dead by the time the system transfers them.
Before we go any further, it's known why the current system slowly queues characters. But this isn't a solution, it's the cause of the problem.
Now this may be the only way that SE can manage world transfers, if so, tough luck to all those who miss out on marks or don't even bother transferring now due to these delays.
But it's a long way from an ideal situation, and I would would hope SE are working on ways to improve this.
I'll be the first one to admit that I wouldn't have a clue what would be needed. Are we talking about something as fundamental as more powerful servers?
I can only see this issue continuing, maybe getting even worse with future gear upgrading/token gatherings etc.
