If there was a npc to lock exp on certain jobs so it cant earn any until we turn it back on by returning to said npc.
For what purpose?
Why would you ever want to lock your exp?
they probably want to lock every job at level 69 and then put in their search info "nice".
Not rlly the point to me isnt the exp its getting that complete on it. When over level from it, it kinda feels pointless to do when it unlocks the next list then next it overwhelm and kills out what joy was there.
It may sound weird but it kills out the fun atleast for me what that happans and makes me not want to do what i had fun doing.
Although I could see some fringe benefit to being able to do this, you can already pretty much have the same effect by not equipping new gear. Gear matters a LOT more than character level when determining the power of a character, and you already get scaled down for dungeons and raids so overleveling isn't a problem.
Doing things like completing the hunt or craft log would be even more not worth doing if you had your exp locked and they gave literally no exp.
Fair enough. Maybe what would be better then would be the option to manually scale your level down. Like if you right clicked your character there was a "Level Scale" button that let you type any number less than your current level and you would scale back down to that level and the game would treat you as that level for the quests available and everything. Mechanically with stat, gear, and exp scaling it would work like any other level sync in the game.
This would not only solve your issue, but you would still gain exp for when you wanted to stop pretending to be a lower level, and it would allow high level players to more easily play with their low level friends.
Im fine with that its more of how the thing kinda punishs you for leveling up by ovetwhelmimg you with millions of things when you were working on for example 52 quest u hit 54 u got alway to many things to do cant even q daily for gil to buy craft tools and gathering cuz im at the vault with 2 60s and overwhelm by alot. My whm hit 60 before dragonsong and i haven't felt like using it all hw cuz its at that lvl
Being able to artificially set a scaled down level would fix that. I understand the overwhelmed thing.
I am personally enjoying being overleveled for HW because I can solo the duties and they feel better storywise like that (rather than having 3 random people join you for things that the story tells you you are doing alone). They are still difficult (more difficult than doing in a lvl synced party) because one person at lvl 60 does not replace a team of lvl 5Xs but they are still doable.
This isn't needed.
After you start getting over level 50 exp gains start to slow down some. Also if obtaining a new skill out of the blue really freaks you out then just ignore it until you finish what you're currently and then analyze it. Alternatively look ahead if you can see skills before obtaining them.
As mentioned prior the game will sync you down on it's own(or force you to in the case of fates). I hate to burst your bubble but this idea is wasted dev time since there's barely any justification for such an endeavor. With how the dev team likes to overexaggerate even basic functions and programming something like this would be nigh impossible for them to do anyway.
60% Of Things in a game isnt needed like outfits the performance hell even housing so...
Also exp is honestly faster 1_49 took me about 2week at my paste i hit 60 from 50 in 3 days.
Plus the sync is only fates and dungeon
Also sync doesbt prevent being overwhelmed with new qs and other things like new craft log
While I do feel for those who need to level at a slower pace, I don't think those people are high enough in numbers for this to be put as a high priority on the list of things to add to the game. I would put it pretty low and tell those who want it that it likely wouldn't be added to the game before you wouldn't need it (ie: you'll likely be at max level before it gets added).
There are already ways in game to slow down the leveling pace and/or the addition of other stuff.
1. Level an alternate battle class. When your main class gets too high for your liking, switch to the other class and do things on it until it gets too high and switch either to another one or back to your main.
2. Hold off on the MSQ until you've had a chance to process things that have been added. As the MSQ is usually the driving force between the addition of new quests, dungeons, and/or trials, holding off on the main quest would let you get a feel for what was added with the last one before moving on and potentially adding new ones.
3. Making sure you're not wearing anything that gives increased experience as those additions typically give a decent boost to exp gain.
Heres the thing lock exp is already in game at max lvl and trail this wouldnt take but 5min to do all they would have to do is give the ability thats there to an npc that auto gen and place then enable people to turn on and off..
Hell i could create it in 3min with whats already in their code.
Next non of that prevents the million of things spawning upon hitting the lvl u want to avoid until your ready.
Finally it honestly would make the game alit more fun to set your own pace.
Also i literally leveled 3 to 60 togeather by switching around was still to quick
You've seen the game's code and you're a coder? That's the only way you can say for certainty how long something would take to implement.
None of us outside of SE know how long it would take to add what you want to the game.
However, what I do know is that any time spent on something means time not spent on something else.
And with this, you are the only person I've ever heard asking for progress on leveling to be slowed (no one else has replied to this thread saying they'd also want something like this). So people in your shoes are likely a vast minority.
Which means on a list of things to add to the game, your request I would prioritize as very low. Because even if it is something that wouldn't take long, it is still time that the coder could be spending working on something that more people would get use out of.
So I would advise you to just do whatever you can to slow the exp gain that you can in game and/or figure out a way to come to terms with just ignoring things in game that you aren't ready for yet. Just because something is unlocked for you, doesn't mean that you have to immediately stop what you're doing and learn about it or deal with it.
Even skills, because until you start getting to end game content, as long as you're not holding the group back from progressing, no one's going to care that you aren't using every spell in your arsenal according to the meta for your level.
Because I'd put the chances of this being added to the game before you're max level at extremely slim.
You dont have to know what code they are using exactly to know how simple of a task it is. are even with python you can do something like this using how they lock exp for trail accounts with ans and if code lines in 3min then lock the situation between a click or text line you choice
Again you're talking about things that may not be as simple as you think if you've not seen the code they use.
Just because it exists for trial characters doesn't mean that it's something that can be easily put onto non-trial characters.
They'd have to add the option to the NPC. They'd have to make sure there were plenty of warnings that no exp gain can be granted while on that class.
They'd also have to likely put a reminder on log in for players who logged out on the exp stop class or swap to the class to remind players that the class is on no exp gain to avoid the countless "bug" threads from players who forgot they put the class on no exp gain.
They'd still likely get reports from players who just clicked past those pop ups without actually reading them.
They'd also have to very rigorously test it to make sure that there are no errors with it. Because the last thing they need is players getting stuck with no exp gain on and not being able to swap off of it.
It's still something that I wouldn't hold your breath on being added any time soon given the fact that it appears to be something not many people want.
That all being said, I do hope that one day they do add in something like this for players like yourself, even if it is just a exp gain reduction item as opposed to a completely stopping of exp gain. I just don't feel that this is something that's high on their priority list.
