Is that an upskirt shot?
Victorian underwear is hot!
This guy is a supplier for those treasure map bot farmers that are present on seemingly every data center now. It just constantly buys out the maps then mails them to the bots doing the farming...though I didn't think they'd be so brazen as to use hacks to get it done quicker.
It's a pity that the GMs/STF aren't able to put two and two together, connect the suppliers to the farmers and just ban the whole lot of them.
I suppose with the rampant DoH/DoL botting that's gone almost unchecked all expansion, Enix have clearly demonstrated to the botters "we have no viable means of dealing with player bots". RMT has always been in a different boat since they're advertising openly in chat in major cities, but they just don't have the tools or manpower to tackle botting. It's not surprising they're getting bolder. I can only see them increasing in number and turning to more and more areas of the game as time goes on.
I personally searched for the bot in question and reported it in the odd chance they might link it to the treasure map bots on its server and purge them as well.
It seems like treasure maps are the new cool thing for the RMTers, though, as I've noticed several new names buying out maps enmass as well new map farming parties on servers that previously lacked them...
EDIT: Didn't realize the bot in the TC's picture isn't even on my data center, so I actually found a different one in the exact same place.
I'm less interested in how lalas are made and more interested in how they're destroyed
People already use bots to automate their rotations and selectively execute certain mechanics (Generally untelegraphed AoEs which a bot can still "see" and locate a safe zone) in both savage and ultimate.
I don't think complete automation is realistically possible due to the amount of timing and precision needed to excuse certain mechanics like Limit Cut and the inherent limitations bots have when it comes to movement.
I am here to note that the popoto in question is no longer growing. However, the caretaker it would mail its maps to are still very much active.
Interesting, to say the least. *Shrug*
One of those bots showed up on my server so I reported it and it vanished not long after. Same case where the ones it was presumably mailing maps to are still around, though.
I can draw a little satisfaction in knowing they at least lost some unspecified amount of gil from having the bot removed, as the thing had spent several million on Zonureskin maps by the time it was removed and thus likely carrying a fairly substantial amount on its person.
I am concerned however, that the bot buying the maps was slapped, but the one using the maps was untouched. That wouldn't be a hard thing to track, at all, which comes off to me like Square only slapped it because it was under the ground, not because it was botting.
They're not even consistent about banning hackers as there was a hunt troll who was using teleport hacks to get to the S ranks the instant they spawned, but even though a significant number of people reported him nothing ever came of it.
I also heard a horror story about someone who was speed hacking in basically every PvP mode and it took months before he got so much as a temporary ban.
The STF honestly may as well not even exist when the only players they're banning regularly are the ARR gil farmers who come back nigh-instantaneously.
They used to ban botters somewhat regularly. Not a lot, not nearly enough, but something at least. Then around September something happened and they just... stopped banning or suspending accounts for third party software use. More recently they've tackled a few. Banned 1 there, 2 on another report. Even their bannings on RMT have gone way down. In Sept it hit an all time high of 60k+ RMT bannings. Now a slow news day goes wooooow over a 5k ban.
Not sure what happened. Did they lay off people? Handicap them so they're not allowed to ban anyone anymore?
