Bozja content is straight up garbage, not even the casual players enjoy it.
Why even make a savage version of a 24 man raid that was aimed at casual players?!
I want my money back SE. I only stay subbed this tier so I can get BiS for ultimate!

Here we go, another tier where getting gear is absolutely useless
That's going to be more than two years without an ultimate. I skipped last tier because I didn't bother gearing as I knew there would be no Ultimate. I resubbed at the start of this tier with the SOLE purpose of gearing for Ultimate. I have been paying Sub fees for nothing. Screw SE for this man, honestly.
I am beyond mad, shb was the worst expansion of all of this game history.
Honestly can’t lie and say I’m not disappointed. I love the Ultimates, and I was really looking forward to the second one this expac. I know that now I have more time to basically go back and farm the others, learn them on different roles, etc.. But I was looking forward to the new one.
I'm pretty upset about Ultimate being dropped. I thought we were back on schedule SE? Was that a lie?
Widely disappointed, 10 months unsub incoming, and I don't even know if I will resub...
I'm disappointed, but I understand. It will make the release all the more sweeter. I just hope this means they will make up the ultimate deficit in 6.0.
This makes me concerned about a slippery slope sort of thing happening. So we were due a second ultimate this expansion which we all thought would have been fine. But now since DSW has been delayed until 6.1, this means (presumably) Omega will be delayed as well. The question becomes: Does it come out in 6.3? Or will we lose a second Stormblood ultimate and will come out in 6.5?
Probably delayed, but then if they had intentions for 2 ultimate in the next expansion then maybe you'll just see a third.. 6.1, 6.3, and 6.55, which all things considered is not that bad. It's an unfortunate circumstance, but really given a pandemic it is quite understandable. A rushed Ultimate does nobody any good.
The fact that the expansion is dropping in Fall is proof we're not back on schedule as they usually drop in Summer. And circumstances do change, especially since Japan saw another COVID spike recently and has consistently been one of the hardest hit Asian countries. There is no 'back to schedule' when at any moment the pandemic can send a new wave of restrictions.
Just to clarify, Yoshida said they're back on schedule in terms of content release from the point they released 5.3. And so far, they've been on track with 5.4 and the expected 5.5 part 1. Fall 2021 could be September, which would be 2 months from release of Shadowbringers in July, which was around the length of time that 5.3 was delayed.
That said, Ultimate is a big content, so part of making sure they're on schedule might be to delay Ultimate if it's not ready.
SHB is going to go down as having the worst post-game content cycle in the games history, unfortunate.
People are participating in way too much covid-blaming and virtue signaling; SE dropped the ball and clearly didn't have serious work-from-home contingencies in place, which most major tech companies have had since the early 2000's. I'm a software dev and my company transitioned to work from home in less than a week when covid hit. It's fair to say this probably isn't the devs faults, but the fault still lies somewhere in the management at SE and is deserving of criticism.
It's been said in this thread before but: more people will do Bozja than Ultimate. On the plus side, it gives us something to look forward to in 6.1. I'm not just saying this because it implies we'll get another sexy Sage weapon early in the expac or anything nope, no motives here.
If you need the useless glowing relic to show off at Limsa, do it.
If you don't have the courage, then don't do it. It will be obsolete by the next extension.
It's not worth the effort.
It's like gender lock, people have been crying on the forums throughout Shadowbringer to this day and for what result?
I so love that people are entitled to their opinion not giving a damn about the whole situation. We're under a pandemic where a lot of companies stop their operations. Employees work from home and you expect similar releases that we had way before anyone imagined that? Talk about clueless people. The very fact that we'll get the 6.0 on Fall should be enough to make people understand that nothing is on schedule as of now and that doesn't apply to just a game. Get over it.
P.S. Feel free to @ me and roast me all you want, my opinion is that and you know that it's not wrong.
That why patch 5.3 was delayed by atleast 2 months and people were fine with that, delays due to covid were to be expected. But then SE told us that they were back on schedule so people naturally assumed that nothing would be cancelled, just delayed by those 2+ months (as the next expansion has been) so I can understand their frustration when content they have been looking forward to is now suddenly cancelled (atleast for this expansion).
I ultimately don't care since I wouldn't be stepping into it until 6.x anyway but I can see the other side of the argument.
The ultimate raiding community is very very very small, far more people would be doing Bozja anyway. The major interest in Ultimates are generally folks that watch it rather than actually run it.
Not at all. Nothing about an MMO says you have to stay subbed for the entirety of an expansion. In fact, it's a positive thing about FFXIV that most things can still be done later (and usually easier) if you don't want to stay subbed at the moment. Those few things that might not be easier if done later, you can judge for yourself if you want to do them now or not.
You can look on various sites that track achievements to see the numbers. Only about 6% of players have cleared Ultimates, so they’re definitely a small minority of the playerbade.
Interestingly, by comparison, only about 0.1% of players have solo’ed PotD. This means that there’s a lot of folks who want semi-difficult content (Ultimates) but are not good enough / do not have the patience to do actually difficult content (soloing the deep dungeons). And it’s hilarious how salty they are.
Housing is limited, so they have to demolish to make room for actual subscribers.
Weeklies and timegated content are for people who will not rush through content and will play through the expansion over time, but you can make a level 70 character now and go through Shadowbringers without having to go through all of the grind of the entire Shadowbringers.
And if you want to be on the same level as everyone else, that depends on the content and depends on you. If you don't want to do Bozja, for example, then you don't need to worry about catching up with Bozja.
So to answer your initial question, while it's true that SE would be in trouble if everyone were to unsub, they know people are different and have different interests. That's why they create different types of content and Ultimate is just one content. And as long as enough of the players subscribe for whatever reason, they'll be fine.
I, for example, would continue to subscribe as I am not participating in Ultimate so it being delayed doesn't affect me and I'm leveling an alt character and am interested to do some of the other 5.5 contents (whether with my main or alt) in April rather than wait until Endwalker to do them all together.
Tiny player % does Ultimates, so of course they got pushed back. Sucks that it happened, but that's Covid.
Why not a simple delay, instead of cutting content?
While I don't like Bojza either... I do think it's fair if they have to allocate strained resources that they put the effort to the content that more people will engage with over content fewer people will. And like it or not, Bozja has more participants than ultimates.
I do still sympathize, though, since it's always disappointing to not get content you'd been looking forward to.
Id just say get more resources as its gettin ridiculous for always havign to choose and let one side down - for all i care they can delete ultimate i wont ever do it but i just think they should manage it so theres something beyond savage...
