Except that if you flip it upside down, the last letter does not look like a "p". It's more of a q or a g. That's hardly a "confirmed", as much as I would love the job.
I wouldn't go so far as to say puppet master....
Any job we predict from this is speculative until the next announcement, but I would say this points more to beastmaster. Skeletor and his animal companion Panthor feels more likely than puppet master right now, especially as puppet master was a job they called out as a potential limited job.
Pup = dog = BEASTMASTER CONFIRMED.
Wouldn't be any more obtuse than the Spiderman thing he did heh.
If you're using mentions of potential limited jobs, Beastmaster was also noted as a job they could bring in with the limited job system. (https://kotaku.com/final-fantasy-xiv...vis-1832757804)
PUP actually seems the more likely of the two for a full job as you could just have them summon set mammet configurations. BSTs, on the other hand, seem to kinda have a similar logic to BLU given their whole shtick is charming/capturing/summoning a variety of monsters to use in battle, just limit which beasts you get to pick from already drops a decent amount of class identity and choice.
It seems to me that puppetmaster and beastmaster are ranged DPS rather than melee.
Don't see how that would fit as melee.
I have also looked into this.
THIS IS THEORY
Filth and the Fury is a reference to The Sex Pistols.
The sex pistols were heavy anti culture and believed in anarchy. Anti Law and order. And one of their biggest songs was Anarchy in The UK. Lyrics lean heavily to "anti-Christ" and "anarchist"
This is a stretch but "anti" could mean "anti normal" or "anti magic". Unconventional forms of combat in FFXIV's case.
Anti magic is ALSO used in the past by the Chronomancer not confused with time mage.
Which uses a scythe as a primary weapon. Much like the Grim Reaper which has similarities with Yoshi P's shirt.
Uses Arcana as their main school including Death, Destruction, Law, Time, Void abilities and magic.
This further explains the reaper/skeleton link leaning heavily into:
Death - Grim reaper/Death
Destruction - anti life and pushes the idea of using destruction to damage others
Law - every beginning has an end, and you can't escape death. Law of life.
Time - every mortal life has a time limit, and the grim reaper escapes time by controlling time
Void - the grim reaper defies the laws of physical form, and can be in many places at once.
This is all speculation but interesting also in how it all "sort of links".
AGAIN this is a THEROY. Food for thought.
I would like PUP as well
Inb4 it becomes a limited job like BLU
Puppet Master would be more likely than beast master.... if only because it's IV related in a way.
Classic FFIV of course had the famous Calabrinca fight.... FFIV the after years kind of had (again in it's own way) a puppet master band (or at least nod to the future job)
with the dwarf princess Lucca (or whatever her name was).
I do think whatever the melee job is, we will be able to link it in some way to IV. Sage as a job references both Tella and FuSoYa in the original (and of course Palom and Lenore in After years... although they were both striving to become one).
Were going to the mood, getting IV minions, I'd be shocked if the melee job can't be linked back to IV in some way.
I think Yoshida was the real puppetmaster all along
Did some digging and found this, it drips FFXIV. It's from a F2P game Let it die.

But the song title got me. "Always see You There"
Then I found this! Around the 10:05 mark and it hit me like a ton of bricks. It even LOOKS like FFXIV gear with buckles, black, hood, leather.

Is this a direct reference to Yoshi P's shirt "I'll be here if you need me"?
I'm going to go out on a limb hear and say the new melee class is "Reaper".
Using Death, Drain, Arcana, while using a scythe as a main hand weapon.
I wonder how they would pull out Puppeteer (or even Beastmaster) as a mainstream job without running into the same problems that plagues Summoner, and to an extent Scholar.
I just don't see it, unless there's a big sphagetti code improvement on the horizon that would finally allow more responsive pets.
.... aaaaaaand this is how Conspiracy Theories are born.
Well it should also be pointed out that the Sex Pistol's most well known song was "God Save The Queen." I think it's a reference back to Bozja which is crawling with beastmasters. This fits sharing dragoon armor and existing lore.
And remember there are versions of beastmaser in final fantasy where beastmaster doesn't have a pet but takes on animal attributes like a form to change how their attacks work.
Pug Master confirmed
