Most likely what happened is either you have the original time that it became available incorrect or that someone reset the timer by relocating in then out.
Were you attempting to buy before your FC reached rank 6? I notice that you just formed it a few days ago and it's currently rank 7.
If it was rank 5 or below when you first started trying, you wouldn't be able to purchase.
It can definitely go over 24 hours. I don't believe they've ever released hard timelines, but I've done the whole placard camping thing several times with alts on different servers, and a couple of those were 33 and 35 hours respectively. I'm fully aware of how the system works, and the timer was never reset - my partner and I were there the whole time taking turns.
35 hours without a single 5 minutes both of you spent looking away? Seems unlikely. 300 seconds is all the reset takes.
I know I've relocated in and out of a plot, and returned to it to say "this plot opened 10 minutes ago, it likely won't sell for a few hours" only to have someone say "lol it's been 8 hours, I've been here the whole time"
Make the random timer last between 3 to 7 days, on random.. that way it get even harder botting out placecards.
Unlikely? Perhaps. I'm not sure why the opinions of a self-proclaimed troll should matter to me (and they most certainly don't). If you enjoy denying others the opportunity to buy a house, and spreading misinformation, then by all means - you do you...
And not that I need to justify my statement to you, but I'm well aware of how long a relocation takes... And yes - 35 hours in shifts without a single 5 minutes looking away... It makes no difference to me what you believe to be likely or not, but if this information helps just one person stick it out and finally get their first house, I'm happy with that.
Oh, and just so you know, even though 300 seconds is all the reset takes, there is a 5 minute cooldown between relocations...
Yeah, 5 mins IS those 300 seconds that he's talking about. Relocating in is instant, 5 min cooldown, relocating out is instant. Getting up to go to the bathroom, quick stop for a snack/drink, you can lose 5+ mins pretty quick. And if it looks the same before and after you wouldnt know you missed anything. Ive personally never heard of a timer significantly past 24 hours. If they went as long as you say, youd think that in the years the timer has been live word would have gotten out.
Haha good catch, thanks! It was very late here, and I was seeing 30 seconds in my head for some reason. I've personally only experienced timers over 30 hours twice, but there are plenty of anecdotal posts on reddit and discord of timers in the 26-36 hour range. Word has gotten out, but luckily it's a pretty rare occasion. Not sure why all the pushback on this... I figured more information is better than less, but people believe what they see. Between the two of us, there were NO quick 5 minute breaks. I've already stated this. I know what I know. Everyone else is free to believe what they will. There's no way I can actually prove it, but I still dislike seeing misinformation being spread as gospel.
In the spirit of full disclosure, I would like to state that both my experiences, and a majority of the posts I saw on the subject of excessively long timers were over a year ago. It's certainly not out of the realm of possibility that this was changed in a patch at some point, but I would think that would be in the patch notes, and it hasn't been.
What at all do you mean by this? I do not troll, and certainly don't proclaim myself one. You've mistaken me for someone or something.
For what it's worth, my entire reason for responding to you was getting rid of misinformation. To my knowledge, and the knowledge base of a discord of 6,000+ people dedicated to sweeping for open plots and watching them for relocation, the timer CANNOT be longer than 24 hours. A 35 hour timer is 99.9% chance the product of a relocation and actually 2 timers each between 8 and 24 hours. Your story about a 35 hour timer is almost certainly false.
A half a handful of people have said they've seen timers over 24 hours, but people also say they've seen Nessie and Bigfoot.
"To discourage the resale of plots, any plots relinquished by owners will be unavailable for purchase for a limited time.
* During this period, said plots will still be available for relocation."*
The exact nature of the timer has never been mentioned. Logically it follows there would be no reason to tell us if that exact nature changed at some point.
"A limited time" through observation seems to be 0-24 hours, supported by the fact that many houses sell out between 10 and 14 hours old, which is the top of the bell curve for a 24 hour period. If any plots are getting older than 24 hours, its fewer than one percent of one percent of all houses. And suspiciously the others are all statistically behaving as if they operate on a 24 hour timer.

That Said timer, should never ever be mentioned to anyone, as people would flock to it when the timer is expired, it make any sense? However the timers should have different timers given on random.. between 24 to 144 hours totally random.
As said you can freely relocate to that house plot, but that does not mean that a house plot would be lost it would just become available elsewhere, however would not mind the suggestion that it should copy the remaning timer from the plot that it was relocated to.
it does it takes the timer for the devaluation from the old one but sadly not the random timer left over and if the devaluation was worth more i think it would soften the blow
