Providing Paladin with an indirect group damage modifier

I mentioned this information in another forum, however, my post was fairly deep within the thread and I beleive that many would probably never read that far. Thus I reinterate:

Since many players tend to prefer a WAR over a PLD, primarily due to their inately higher damage, I believe an ability that temporarily increases the physical/magical damage output (or Morale) of all party members would be perfect (since all of the paladin's most useful survival/hate holding abilities are aultruistic; PLD is all about helping the party in some means or manner). And to prevent the repercussions of increased party damage output on hate control, this ability would also provide a small group hate transfer to the paladin for the duration of the ability.

**For example, a 15%-25% physical/magical damage output increase and a ~7-10% hate transfer from each party member for 10-20 seconds. This ability would be on, at minimum, a 1 minute cooldown. Note that this ability would not increase the user's damage or modifiy the hate directly from the users (PLD's) own abilities/attacks**.

I believe this to be a decent means to repairing PLD's desirability within a party without the need to destroy warrior's DPS.

To end my statments, I've played so many MMO's and I've seen competative class archtypes (tanks/healers/dps/supporters) rise and fall from one expansion/patch to another. I believe that the developers will take one of three avaliable courses of actions due to the current predicament: Buff paladin, nurf warrior, or a combination of both. As a person who strives to master all forms of tanking in an mmo, I hope the developers take some time to consider their programing as well as the players veiwpoint concerning the usefullness of a class/job, and test extensivly before they release their upcoming patches.

Im shocked that this thread is so barron and reply-less. No one has comments or constructive suggestions? You can pretty much ignore the + defense bonus/damage absorption half of my thread; it's not really my idea and nothing more than whimful thought.

Hmm.. that quesion seems out of place. Are you refering to the shield update?

Honestly, I didn't have enough time to play around with this change. Non-the-less, it's a step in the right direction.

It's one of those "we'll give you an opinion once we play around with it for a bit" type of deals.

This idea was laid out on the forums long before this patch information had been released. Also one cannot "play around" with something that has yet to be added to the mechanics. I simply desire community support regarding my idea. I doubt this ability could be implimented currently; however, it could easily be assimalated into our lv 55 or 60 ability when the level cap is increased.

When I think of paladin I think of a hero clad in white with a huge shield protecting his comrades and bashing the enemies face in with his shield. WHAT IF Pld could dual wield his sword and shield for attacking?! OR, what if you gave the paladin a strong aoe shield attack that based damage on his defense rating :D


hell give it a knockback/stun too... why not?

To put it simply, this kind of ability is too powerful. This would make a PLD mandatory in every party simply for the buff alone. PLD already has a means of increasing party damage output via Riot Blade's def down effect, which is actually getting buffed next patch. I'm expecting a decrease in the TP cost or recast reduction to 60 seconds. Best just wait and see how the next patch turns out.

riot blade 1500tp and recast 45 sec, I hope its like that XD

Now that SE has decided to "ballance" Warrior, there's probably little need for an ability such as this. But, it was still a fun idea.

This ability would require adjustments made by the developers should they decide to utlize it.

Based on my experience, this kind of ability is the only means for PLD to compete with WAR. However, things are about to change according to Yoshi-P.
