Time to Accepted Duty

The time to accept a duty when queuing needs to be increased, as DPS I do other things while waiting for queue. It always procs when I'm in the middle of something and it is unbelievably frustrating.

It needs to have time to accept of two minutes in my opinion. Potentially extended if the player is in a cutscene or it can wait until the cutscene is finished.

Otherwise I can literally do nothing when waiting for a duty.

If I withdraw in the middle of doing something because I know I can't make the time I should not get a 30 minute penalty, this is literally something that is making me want to quit the game.

For your frustrating problem :
* All cutscene can be rewatched in your room.
* If you're in the middle of a fight or a discussion, they will be reseted.

It's still frustrating but making 3/7/23 peoples wait on you for 2+ minutes is frustrating as well. So here are some things you can do while waiting for a duty :
* Grinding fates
* Hunting
* Crafting
* Gathering
* Treasure hunt (solo only, otherwise the instances could pop)
* Triple triad
* Social interaction / RPing
* Glamour
* Housing
* Grinding achievements
* Watch Netflix / Youtube
* Doing the dishes
* Doing some exercise/movement IRL
* Read a book
* Play with the cat?
* Pay your bills
* [...]

extra 2 minutes is nothing when your waiting 30 minute.

Those of us who are prepared for the queue pop shouldn't have to wait 1m59s for the unprepared people to finish what they were doing instead of being ready for the queue pop.

It's not because your queue time was 30 minutes that everybody's queue time was 30 minutes. At least 1 person per group had a queue time of 0 sec.

So I should be screwed over because of that? I fail to see the point

1. You're not screwed just frustrated.
2. You're not worth more than the other players. You being frustrated is not more important than 3/7/23 people being frustrated.

So to answer your question. Yes.

If youre ready to go when the que pops, 45 seconds already feels too long. Just sitting. Waiting. Not knowing if the last person is going to hit go, or if we're going to do the whole thing over again with the next person. And then the next. And the next. You want to increase the timer for half of a loot roll? Absurd.

And yes, as a DPS ive also been the person in the middle of something when the que pops. Tricking the que into thinking youre doing something else is a classic way to get it to go faster. Trying to hurry up something that takes a specific length of time to do so you can hit accept(probly after switching classes back to the one you qued on). In this case, hoping someone else drops out so you get an extra few seconds to finish up. Still wouldnt extend the time.

OP - I notice you have your character listed on one of the euro data centers. If your ques are always that long(they shouldnt be) you might try the language trick. Tell the duty finder to accept ques for people speaking any language, and not just english. It makes a HUGE difference on some servers.

Edit: You also might check the specific type of content youre queing into. You mention in another thread attempting Ramuh (Ex) via duty finder. This type of content(as well as savage difficulty raids) is typically handled by pre-made parties using the party finder tool instead. Some of them are qued so rarely that you can literally wait hours and never see a match. Duty finder is most effective with dungeons, story mode trials(hard difficulty basically), normal mode raids, and alliance raids.

Right so, when someone fails to Accept a queue I get put back in queue at the top. This I do not find annoying at all and maybe would happen less if the time was increased.

46 sec is not enough time to finish Mocching when you are halfway through a two step mooch. Most Fates that I'm waiting for while also queue duty proc the second the fate proc the duty then immediately procs, bad luck I know but still frustrating. Most Fates of which I can easily finish within two minutes. Most I could finish within 30 seconds but the game takes ages to let me change to relevant class.

So I wait 9/15/30/45 minutes and people can't wait 2 minutes. As that was your original someone might have a had a queue time of zero, so why can't they wait 2 minutes serious, whose the entitled one there.

So yes, yes I am screwed, not especially because I am then locked for 30 minutes from queuing.

I will accept the cutscene one is a little harder to deal with.

The only other thing is better estimates but that not an easy task.

Seeing any flaw here? There are fates all the time, all over the place, just pick one. And as soon as the queue pops just run away until you can change job. Or do the fate with the job you tagged with.

But this falls appart if you didn't wait at all, then +/- 2 minutes represents a lot. Ok it's a little bit cheesy, I suppose.

"whose the entitled one ther" > I assume it's you because you created this thread to complain. From my point of view, I have nothing against you, just against your idea of having a longer "accept duty" time.

If I may add, I understand why you're frustrated. But the solution you propose is transferring your frustration to others, which is not acceptable from my point of view. If you don't agree with that and think you deserve better to the detriment of other, it's your right. The consequence of that is a disagreement between you and me. But I'm sure you and I will be able to live happily even with this situation ;) So to conclude, I hope that Frizze's tip about the language will decrease your waiting times and that you'll be able to enjoy the game as you intend to. Unless you miss a queue 3 times within a 24-hour period, you won’t get a 30-minute queue penalty. So that’s a moot point unless you are routinely missing queues that often. If that is the case, then perhaps re-evaluate what you are doing while queuing. Perhaps do something that is easier to drop the second the queue pops. Or something that would take no more than the current wait timer to finish. The other people queuing are ready and have hit commenced. Why are you wanting to make them wait on you? Why should they?

Not trying to sound cold but. You’re already given 45 seconds to finish what you’re doing and press the button.

It's more than enough time to stop fishing and change jobs. It's more than enough time to simply abandon a FATE and change jobs. Queue's ready, get your *** in gear.

I wouldnt have such a big problem waiting to get in if the game wouldnt restrict me that mutch while waiting.....Literally cant do anything besides running around doing nothing...

This is false. You can do plenty while queuing. The only tricky thing to do is MSQ as you may not want to get booted out of a cutscene. But things like side quests, overworld dailies (hunts, beast tribes), FATES, crafting, and gathering are 100% doable while in a queue.

You've never had a queue, like an alliance raid, pop, somebody not commence, pop again, and repeat this like 5 times? Poof, 10 minutes gone.

It would actually make the queue system completely unusable, your suggestion would kill the Duty Finder.

Either crank up your system volume so you can hear it wherever you are in your home, wear wireless headphones, or get a controller so you can commence whenever the queue pops.

He has a valid point there, we should be able to Commence duty regardless of whatever job we're on. What you described could be seen as griefing if you're resetting a mob - like a FATE boss - just to change jobs. And depending on your job, like Samurai, you're going to have a difficult time dropping aggro due to Higanbana.

In that case, you have 45 seconds maximum wait time unless someone fails to commence. While some limitations are silly (e.g., unable to check marketboards or retainers), ideally you don’t even have a minute to really do anything. So I feel as if your statement is really looking for something to complain about. More times than not, when the duty commences you aren’t even waiting 45 seconds.

Yes. Which I disagree with. There is no need to up the commenced timer beyond 45 seconds simply because the OP cannot keep an eye on his queue.

My response to the above poster is primarily a misunderstanding from their first post. It wasn’t clear that they were talking about the 45 seconds, but rather the time you spend within the queue.
