Will we ever know what Lilly Hills was for?

Standing around Gridania, I noticed little buildings above on the hills.

I assumed that those are supposed to be apart of Lilly Hills (currently like the Wards entrance but goes nowhere.)

So I started looking at my map and I remembered also the little place behind the Lancers Guild that also has gates blocking the path.

I wonder if these will be in the new Gridania come V2.0 and if not, will we ever get to know what the original plans for those areas were to be? I would love to zone into the Lilly Hills area and walk around houses and even look down upon my beloved tree city.

Just some thoughts from a person who has spent the last 4 days standing around Gridania waiting for the Urianger announcing NPC to pop ^^

each city-state has a "king" and thats where they stay. Uldah's is on the top floor and theres an elevator in LL thats near the chocobo stables that takes you to the "king's" residency.

not sure if they are still going with that though since this was all pre-yoshida story arc

I still think the MLP sig was better. x.x I also wonder what is in these places you can't get to. I had hoped that maybe, just maybe, it would be something you got for individual city storylines, but nope. That crap all ends up together very quickly. Getting access to places the smelly flamers and sailors couldn't go would have been awesome. Instead all our stories get piled together in ugly, dull ul'dah.

I thought Lily Hills was the road to Ala Mhigo...the path is blocked now since Ala Mhigo is under Garlean occupancy. I expect the revolt to start from Little Ala Mhigo(cave village in Thanalan) to reclaim Ala Mhigan lands...

That weird dead end you marked...I think there were initially plans to make Gridania multiple levels so the city would climb up the tree canopies...this is being redone for 2.0 so I think they just closed it off there.

wait, they arent remaking the cities on 2.0?

They did show a map of the "new" Gridania during live producers letter. I do believe the cities will be getting some work done on them. Who knows?

there are also various tunnels with empty npc markers in thanlan, I'd kinda like being told prior to 2.0 what the intended purposes of these various unused places were since they are probably going to be erased anyway

I think it was places that were going to be added, either for player housing or just an extension to the zone, but the maps werent complete, then with Yoshi-P coming in and ultimately deciding to redesign the zones they didn't bother using them.

There is a place on the top floor of Ul'dah and the southern islands in LL we cant access either.

Looks like houses... I assume that's where player housing would have gone if they weren't going to re-do all the zones.

I was thinking about this location the other day. I wonder.

The same thing the Oasis in Ul'dah and the Captains' Ward (Northern Isles) in Limsa are for, since they're the exact same thing in those cities. What's that? Who knows? (My guess is permanent player housing, but we'll see)

I'd rather know what they plan on doing with moonspore grove.

I am guessing that lily hills was planned for player housing, but it seems Yoshida wants player housing out in the real world maps.

Personally I don't mind either, will be interesting to see if they plan to use those zones and what the new cities will look like etc.
