Suggestions for Titan Unreal

I would like to make some suggestions regarding the Unreal series and specifically Titan. In order to do this effectively, I feel I must briefly describe the type of player I am so you might understand where I'm coming from, however there's a TLDR at the end of the post. I've played XIV since a month after HW released and haven't had a sub lapse since. I would describe myself as a midcore player who has no interest in savage. My passion lies in primals. Basically, I would consider myself a non top tier, run of the mill but very devoted XIV player.
I have been trying to clear Titan since launch in PF and have found that clear groups struggle with this, especially since you cannot rez someone who falls off. Groups try for a little while, but it's pretty much doomed from the start.
Thus I would like to offer two ideas for the Unreal series that relate the Titan & the other older extremes that didn't allow resurrections. Since there is a group of XIV players that are from 1.0 or 2.0 & are likely going to tell me to shut my hole & stop crying since that's how it was back in the old days, my first suggestion is to allow a mode or button a player can toggle that allows rezzing or not for those older fights. If you choose to not have rezzing if you fall off, you can get an increase in reward and the satisfaction that you can do the fight as it was back in ye olden days. For those of us in PF that are struggling, it could allow for more success rate & participation in the unreal series.
My second and more radical suggestion is somewhat like the first. Since every fight in the game now allows for rezzing, even if you fall off a platform, please just change Titan to be in line with the rest of the games in the fight. This is what players have come to expect & it allows groups to have a higher chance of success, even when mistakes are made (we're all humans here and watching your friends have to struggle when you can't help is a form of masochist torture).
Doing Titan in PF is a lost cause without allowing for rezzing. I implore you to consider players who would like to clear this content and haven't been able to. Some will say the answer is "git gud", but I would point out that there are a fair amount of players who are decent, midcore players that are struggling with this fight simply because they made a mistake in a fight and can't correct it. Just because a fight was done a certain way in the past may not mean it's necessarily good for the future. So please SE...one small change may allow many more players to experience the content devs work so hard to create and feel more success. This leads to a more active and happy community, which is what we all want.

TLDR: Titan Unreal is hard to clear in PF. Please allow us to either toggle an option to allow rezzing if you fall off for a lesser reward or just have our bodies pop up on the platform after you die like the vast majority of other fights in the game.

I actually wish more fights had punishments as brutal as this one. Getting knocked off is a really good personal motivator for me to "git gud."
Though I also have a 5 person static to fall back on when pugging gets too frustrating, so take this with a grain of salt.

Titan EX is a great fight. I would much rather they keep it in the same state it has been seen launch. I can understand pt finder frustration but I don't think this should be changed.

The same whine was there with Shiva Unreal.

We need fewer raise opportunities, not more. Because so many are now conditioned to ignore mechanics and use someone else’s raise as mitigation.

I disagree with the suggestion but do feel your frustration with PF.

The problem is that this isn’t casual content but it’s marketed as such with the whole faux hollows thing.

All the old extremes were DF’d at the time and this can be done in party finder but it’s going to be frustrating and more so if you don’t have a clear so you can queue for duty completed ones where generally people have done it and

But as for changing the fight, I disagree. Its literally a scaled Titan extreme which is what it’s supposed to be.

I do this fight in the PF every week. It isn't too difficult to learn to the point where you stop making those kinds of mistakes. Even if someone dies, other players can adjust and make up for the loss. I have cleared once after a dps died pretty early in the fight. It may also be possible to it with only one remaining healer.

The biggest problem is the quality of players you are able to get in your party without having completed it. Unless you clear within the first day or week, you will almost never be grouped with 7 players who can recover from mistakes and handle mechanics correctly. This may or may not also apply to yourself. Keep practicing and try to reach a point where your runs are flawless even if your teammates aren't. You could also reach out to other players through the fellowship system or various Discord servers, or make a free company event out of it.

This is one reason I wouldn't want to see it changed. Players have come to expect easy clears because EX has been handing them out so much. The combination of a really low enrage timer and unlimited rezzes means you can carry a few players through who are in no way ready for that type of content.
Think of it as similar to mechanics that wipe the group if you mess up, like missing an orb on Emerald or dropping a lb3 meteor badly on Seat. In the same way, you can't afford to mess up this mechanic too.

The hard truth here is those players are not as decent as they thought they were. The leniency of recent content and the lack of any tools to measure performance make it hard to gauge how well you're doing. This is why you have healbots and dps doing half their potential who would swear they're doing well and feel their clears are proof of that.

Titan wasn't called "Statics Destroyer" for nothing. Welcome to the absolute nightmare of the whole "A Realm Reborn" expansion that can be still considered one of the hardest Trials in the entire game.

Guilty.
One of my big complaints about this game is that its really wonky when it comes to giving players feedback.
Especially because almost all content is team content it can be hard to see if / when someone is picking up my slack.
But having Titan just slam me down is such a definitive "yo boy you really screwed up" is refreshing and appreciated. Especially because I rock tanks so I'm already a little oops proof and can often shrug off botched mechanics.

Unironically i wish xiv had something similar to WoW's combat resurrection cooldown.

People are going to have more trouble with Ramuh Unreal.
Tank swapping while keeping up electricity buffs or get one-shotted.
Not overlapping 100k damage thunderstorms, while zapping the stunned people.
Titan Unreal is only hard if your internet sucks too much to get out of landslides.

Thanks everyone for your comments. It was pretty much what I expected. I don't want to seem like a whiner, it's just the struggle is real in PF. I myself did clear Shiva after some weeks and was clearing it consistently. Titan has just been a bugger in PF. I pretty much expected everyone to say "git gud" and that's what I got. I guess I was just venting some frustration. This is unlikely to change so I'll just keep trying.

Keep at it, you’ll get that clear party. I also don’t think it should be changed, the fight is great as it is, and you shouldn’t be falling off as it is, especially with every job having a skill that nullifies landslide, something that wasn’t around for titan ex.

Please look foreword to Ramuh unreal.

I understand your frustration with PF. It can be a hot mess and I've spent enough time there to know that there are a lot of trap parties and deadweights.
But the reason why people struggle so much with a fight that doesn't allow for resses is due to so many other fights allowing it with an almost non-existent enrage on top, so people can die over and over again and it's still a clear. Many players simply stopped treating a death as something that has to be avoided at all costs but rather as something that ruins their parse (if they care about it) or a minor inconvenience.

I'd prefer to see more fights that either don't allow to ress at all or only 1-2 few times. Being out of a fight for good is a good wake up call to better watch your feet next time.
And it may be an incentive for people to not die to the same miscalculcated greed 5 pulls in a row. At least they added a damage down to a lot of recent fights when you fail a mechanic instead of a vuln up.

I've had to tape his rotation onto my computer to try and keep up with all his lightning fast tankbusters.
This dude's got tricks. Especially for people that just got into EX with this expansion (like me) Titan's def posing a problem

I havent tried yet as im gonna get my 99-119 Emerald runs, but tbh id rather carry someone by resses then never clear stuff or wipe all the time... Today alone i prevented 3 wipes by ressing both healers >_>

I cleared Shiva Unreal pretty much first day and was clearing it consistently every week. I've been more busy this patch cycle but I've put at least 10 hours into Titan Unreal and still don't have my clear. I understand the frustration. :(

I feel like the incentive to actually complete the Unreal fights needs to be more weighty, if possible. My static doesn't want to do Unreal because they view it as a waste of time, and energy, but maybe if players earned more Faux Leafs for completing content (or if there was like a streak bonus) then the rewards would be worth the effort.

The fight is designed to not allow for a lot of error, so the PF struggles are to be expected. Getting punted off is only one of several reasons that players will force a reset, so an option to rezz those players really isn't going to help that much towards clears. I also think it's important that these unreal trials remain unchanged from the earlier EX encounters as far as the mechanics go.

I no longer have a static so I've had the same struggles in PF. I have been wanting to do this fight for some time, and would have been disappointed if groups were not struggling as much as they do. I derp in there too, and I certainly don't mind an occasional humbling that let's me know I can do better. Sitting on the bottom while the others continue to try and tackle the rockman definitely does that.

I think Sophia might have been the first trial that dropped your dead body back on the platform so you could get raised (Bismarck and Ravana still throw you of for good, if memory serves right) - and I was so, so disapointed by that. I still am. I had my fair share of falling of platforms, but I still hold the believe that taking you out of the fight for good if you fail those mechanics was better design than it just being an instant kill. It made those mechanics much more your job than the healers.

I mean to be honest this has been a punishment for not following the mechanics since ARR and Titan EX was always fun and considered pretty hard at the time due to the shoddy netcode back then. Its still is easy with PF if people would take a moment, run Titan EX synced to get the basics down. Everyone is so used to be carried or doing these fights unsynced that they don't know they mechanics and they immediately call to nerf mechanics like they did with Shiva Unreal. If you are having a hard time with PF, maybe form a static and practice or work with your FC to arrange a time for them to help you out. Personally I think its easier to run with people that know the fight and all that jazz but it can be done in PF though.

Wait till they release Ifrit Unreal. There will be tears as well with the nails and chains.

Titan is definitely the more difficult fight, I haven’t been getting my cleats until late week, whereas shiva was done on reset day.

They just upped the amount of leaves for the pictures and added more rewards, the streak bonus is the play 50 times achievement that rewards the title.

Thought I would post for the one person who might care, but I got my clear today. I'm a RDM/SMN main, but I decided to go in on DNC just for giggles and it was easier having instacast to help, but I want to do it on RDM or SMN in the coming weeks. PF is still a bugger, but I suppose, at least for me, perseverance won the day. Thanks for the interesting ideas and debate everyone, it made for some food for thought. Happy New Year!

Just have everyone prioritize landslide. So at least if they die it won’t be run-ending. There’s the gaols too, but as long as the team is on the same page, people might die but won’t get blasted off the platform.. as much. I tank this fight though so I dunno how it is for the other classes.
