The little star thing you open was a cool idea.
Too bad you catch the pattern and know what all the gifts were after the 2nd one.
On that note, where is the prism for #'s 6-9?
I liked how they kept bouncing back and forth between the story with Isainne and Kamlito, and reading the letters (with you unlocking and reading a couple new letters in between each quest). So you had 10 minutes of story, then 5 minutes of letters, and rinse repeat. That was better paced than the Little Ladies' Day event where you had like 30 minutes of story and then you did 15 minutes of introducing your friends to the kids in one sitting. Also once you had finished the Little Ladies Day quest, there wasn't as much incentive to watch all of the introductions, so I think doing this way was better.
Sad that we got no letters from the Far East.
Who was the Chocobo letter from?
The only thing I can think of is they intended the gifts to be used as a 5-4-3-2-1 countdown.
I enjoyed the metaphorical reference to covid-19 and the hope the world has for the new vaccine.
Wut.........
Ah. I didn't tie that into covid at all. It is a common rpg plot point to have a sick someone to heal
I think it's one of the Best Events we've received in a while, Bravo Yoshi team and SE
Also the Rising from this year had a glass picture accidently broken by kids, which referenced the world's most expensive glass sculpture--which was an all glass model of Disney World--was accidently broken by kids playing near the exhibit.
So there is a precedent for real life events being referenced or transpiring in game.
Considering FFVII Remake has references to pandemic panic-buying and toilet paper shortages, that was pretty clearly a reference too. Ferne and the FFXIV writing and localization teams after all are well known for refering to not just pop culture but real-life events in FFXIV's story and dialogue (a good example is in when the Antitower dungeon was added during HW's post-story patch perod, it featured among other things a spriggan-head golem boss named 'Ziggy' that used celestial themed attacks (including 'Stardust'), which was clearly a subtle reference and tribute to David Bowie, whose passing was then still very recent).
So this is pretty clearly intentional (but still just subtle enough so as to be fittingly sensitive to a global event that has affected pretty much everyone).
Def the best Starlight in terms of events and story we've had in a long time.
Not only was the main story fantastic, but getting letters from multiple NPC's both new and old was a treat. They took the best element of last year's Rising and gave us a bite size version to go along with this year too.
