A need to change the leve system!

There are quite a few players now on FF14 who have level capped all of their classes. It would be nice if the devs considered adding additional rewards for players unable to get exp from leves. The little bit of a reward granted (other than exp.) is not worth taking the time to do them.

The leve system is a old leftovers from the 1.0 Times.
The only purpose was to have something to do in ARR.

There is no real reason to revive that system because we have so much more interesting stuff to do.

There could be possibilitys to implement then again but I don't think they want to do that.

ppl still use leve to withdraw a lot of gil from the system at least on jp server, I don't think we should add more reward.

If anything, they may introduce new large scale battle leve for lv 80 with some interesting reward, make it similar to treasure hunt.

You could change the leve system into some FC related weekly hunt content by doing them harder and large scale.

But they haven't mentioned them for ages and just left the system to die.

But leves are for levelling.
You've got a levelling roulette that gives extra rewards because that's a group activity and you have to compel a large number of people to join.
What kind of grind able reward do you think would be appropriate?
Think they could just give you poetics and company seals like they do from the levelling roulette?

Leves are a great way to make Gil.

If anything they should expand the system. The more options for leveling the better.

In my opinion the reward from Leves, FATEs, and open world enemies is hurting the game. Damage dealers wait extensively for dungeon queue’s.

If other, and more options for leveling existed I feel there would be a better balance.

This is a “successful” RPG, the options should not be so limiting and players should want more options.

The rewards not being increased would be okay if they at least had it so that leves could be handed in in larger numbers, then whatever, its still an easy 300-600 k to clear 100 leve allowances, but as it is right now the time it takes to do 100 leve crafts and hand them in one at a time leaves it as a dead system for endgame players. It’s something simple they could fix so that players unable to get exp can still make use of leve allowances. It’s one of the best systems for leveling that they have in the game, but becomes pointless once you level cap all classes.

I agree with you Daniolaut about the queuing issues which is why I left a separate thread about them also needing to increase the rewards for mentor roulette. If they increased the rewards for mentor roulette (not just as a daily reward but for multiple ques) it would entice mentors to actually do mentor roulette and keep the older content relevant to end game players, it would also create more incentive for mid tier player to work towards becoming mentors and new players wouldn’t wait as long in ques and end up quitting ff14 before they’ve even gotten into it.

I suppose this begs the question: does all content need to be relevant at all levels?

I only use leves anymore just to get Amber to make it easier getting the HW relic i didn't get back then

I actually still use leves for alt jobs under lv40. I get sick of leveling using the same methods over and over, so I'm burned out on grinding through spamming the same dungeons, and with leves I can accomplish the goal for exp at my own pace.
I honestly wish they'd just make leves not be interrupted by duties, so there would be maybe some point in forming a leve party with my friend while waiting as dps, too.
And I just like any excuse to do open world content instead of more instanced stuff.

Leve quests were a alternative to leveling but since leveling is down right broken to the point of players being Lv 60 before Ultimate weapon, there’s no real need tbh I do miss when you had to try to level in the game and being Max level was a achievement rather than Step 1

Actually, as someone who enjoys doing battlecraft leves do you know what would really improve the leve experience for me?

Going back to having different regional tracks for them instead of the exact same (IMO much more bland than the 1.0 ones by the way) music in all of them.

I would love to have more reasons to do battlecraft leves and personally more group participation in them. I won't spam dungeons and roulettes every time I play. It's just not as engaging for me as doing open world content.

Currently, it would be nice to be able to select the same leves as your party members. This is not easy to achieve and is largely off putting. Surely, some small adjustments to the system could make them more popular if they would separate the allowances for battle and crafting/gathering leves as well.

Levelsyncing that allows high-level players to party up with low-level players to do this content regularly would be good also.

New additional expert battlecraft leves that require you to act cautiously and swiftly in battle just like the masked carnival would be awesome.

Maybe only certain leves become available at specific times/condition (weather).

Open world content that makes the world entertaining and different.

I am a new player and the timegating on Levemete Allowances is killing me. It just reminds me of the timegated quests in WoW, which I hated with a vengeance. I would very much like to do the Achievements for Levemetes, but having to wait for new Allowances is extremely discouraging.
Might I suggest changing something like the Venture currency to where you can choose to purchase a Venture with your Retainers, or, purchase an additional Levemete Allowance on a 1-to-1 exchange.

EDIT: I understand that Levemetes can be quite rewarding, which is why I am suggesting a solution where you actually have to play and collect Venture coins instead of removing the timegating entirely.

I think they could do a few things to improve leves in the future.

-First off I would probably give separate allowances for battle craft leves and field/trade craft leves since it feels weird having to choose between fairly lucrative crafting leves (for new players) and leveling an alt DoW/DoM class.

-I would love to be able to do battle craft leves up to the maximum level. Maybe limit it to two levels per day for 6 leves to not make it overpowered and help break up the tedium that comes with dungeon spamming. Also, it would probably be a good limit the amount of gil rewarded to discourage bots etc from doing these.

-A party finder for leves would also be nice, especially for those leves that require groups.

P.S. There's a lot of other good ideas in this thread. I hope they introduce some of these changes

Getting venture coins as leve rewards sounds awesome!

I really like battleleves for their varied (kinda) content and worldbuilding lore they contain in the text.
I'm grinding levequests now and would actually be pleasantly surprised if they came back for EW areas. Though I don't actually hold an expectation for this.
I also very much enjoy the leveplate stained glass artwork, always have since we first saw them before 1.0 came out.
There was once a business card holder in the style of one and I wish I bought it when I could have.


As for repurposing them, a simple idea is to keep them fundamentally the same, but scale up the difficulty a ton. Make them challenging. Make levelinking a thing people will want to do so players can help each other.
Putting a reward you can get 6/day of such as a materia cluster or something on them would perhaps get people doing them. And the nice thing about levequests is that they're in the overworld, so you'd see slightly more activity when you're out doing whatever unrelated thing you happen to be doing. I think just the general concept of seeing players out in the field doing stuff is a great thing to strive towards. Everyone afking at home or in town is kinda lame, not going to lie.
