Rank your Beast Tribes from best to worst

Well, it has always been a question to me which are the community favourite Beast Tribe and which the least, so i thought it could be a interesting idea to open a thread in which everyone shows their preference on Beast Tribes. You don't need to include all of them and limit to stating the ones that call your attention the most if you like.

As the one opening the thread I could start posting my own ranking:

1. Namazu (hilarious kind, from deadpan retorts to antics)
2. Vanu Vanu (favourite serious Beast Tribe quests, love their manner of speech, story and their dance)
3. Sylph (my favourite cute tribe, i like the cabbage fairies)
4. Dwarves (lali-ho, dance, drunken antics and tanks. You'll always get high with tanks)
5. Goblins (they don't have tribe quest but they deserve their spot just for their gobbie tongeflaps and Brayflox and, to this day, I think I underappreciated Alexander raid story and the Illuminati)
6. Moogle (funny, fluffy and mischievous)
7. Qiqirn (pretty quirky tribe and endearing way of talking)
8. Ixal (I find their questline oddly wholesome)
9. Vath (I find them odd, but that's it)
10. Fae Folk (Fae are the light less cool version of the Sylph to me, the rest I hardly care for except for the porxies, maybe)
11. Kojin (i din't find myself drawn to them, it seemed a pretty bland tribe to me)
12. Amal'jaa, Mamool Ja and Sahagin, they didn't really grow on me.
13. Kobold: they represent me in so many levels. I hate it.

I also love the goblins in Idyllshire and the Illuminati in Alexander raids chain, which is one of my favourites stories.
Still need to find the patience to dip into ARR beast tribes... I will one day, I hope.

Sylphs, without question. The number of quests where you have to carry something or go invisible (which prevents you from mounting or even running) through the Sylphlands (which is one of the most annoying zones to walk around in) is offensive. Ixali were probably the second worst - just a ton of running around, you have to wear those dumb gloves to do them, etc. Vanu Vanu were annoying because of the quest where you have to ride around on that thing and if you are queued for something and it pops during that time, you have to fly all the way back across that huge zone to get to the target location (other quests have mount objectives, but none were as bad as the Vanu Vanu).

The mining beast tribe quests are all easy - just stock up on the stuff you need to mine (e.g., using King's Yield II) and you can get several turn-ins worth of stuff in one go; that way, you can accept the quest and then immediately turn it in. This works for the Namazu and Qitari beast tribes (although the Namazu ones still sometimes require you to go out and talk to a random Namazu). The Moogle ones weren't that bad once you unlock them, but unlocking them was a pain. The Sahagin, Kobold, and Amalj'aa have several quests where you just have to turn in items from FATEs, which you should have a lot of from stocking up throughout your play-through (at least I did). In general, the beast tribe quests individually have become easier over time - ARR had the most tedious quests, HW had some annoying ones with large zones, SB was getting better, and ShB are all cakewalk.

There is a lot to judge a beast tribe by, and how they are will differ from person to person. I tend to favor beast tribes that have a good story to it, and the quests themselves are painless for the most part. Using that criteria I would say my top three are The Fae, The Gnath, and The Kobolds. The Sylphs, Vanu, and Namazu drove me bonkers completing their questlines. I completed the Sylphs back when getting a thunderbolt to the bum placed a heavy/leaden status on you; the other two talk too much.

I liked the Moogles the most. They're the most iconic, after all.

The Amal'jaa and Sahagin have cool designs. Same for the Kojin. The Namazu were mildly amusing.

I don't care much about the others, though. Especially the preachy ones. Some are insufferable because they constantly go on about 'oppression'. Others are insufferable because they actually have an interesting and ruthless society but decide to ignore that in favour of being bland, inoffensive wet noodles.

I remember the Nu Moau was supposed to be a beast tribe as announced during the Shadowbringers Fan Festival PLLs, if they had been, they would easily be at the top three. The Goblins would also be a nice tribe and would sit just below the Moogles.

Best: Lalas confirmed to be a beast tribe that has for some reason been given access to actual society and thus ruined many things.

Also good: Pixie playland is neat, Vath show up in a lot of random places once you help establish their adventurers guild

Worst: Unlocking moogles, everything about cat fish(Ananta 100% should have been the SB crafting tribe), Qiqi village proximity stopping La Hee music

My favorite beast tribes - Amalj'aa, Namazu, Moogles, Vath, and Vanu Vanu

My least favorite beast tribes - Nu Mou, Sylph, and Pixies

As quests go I enjoy the crafting and gathering ones best, with the exception of Ixali only because it was a huge pain in the beginning, and now that we're able to fly everywhere I don't have much preference among the others.

Haven't done the ARR ones aside from the Ixali, so leaving all them out

1.Dwarves: They are just great, I wish we got more dwarf content and I'll be sad that we likely won't get much more after the allied beast tribe
2.Namazu: They are pretty funny, was a good time
3.Qiquirn: They had a neat questline, enjoyed being able to shape their past
4.Anata: They had an enjoyable enough questline, and M'zhet's stuff was funny.
5.Ixali: I liked the story between the lalafell kid and the ixali chief. Was kinda heart warming.
6. Vath: I liked Deftarm's antics but otherwise was kinda dull
7. Pixies: Had it's moments and the dream realm was fun, but otherwise also kinda dull.
8. Kojin: Aside from the thing at bloodsworn where nobody remembered anything about the spirit, I don't remember anything about the storyline. Oddly fitting I suppose
9. Moogles: I enjoy how deliberately obnoxious they are in short bursts, but dealing with them for like a month straight was not enjoyable
10. Vanu Vanu: I hate sea of clouds. Like it's a cool zone, but it's so big and tedious to get around.

The Nu Mou are a beast tribe, but they are members of the fae race, so they share the same slot with the Pixies. Admittedly most people thought they were seperate but with how the Il Mheg story progressed and the announcement of the Pixies as the first ShB beast tribe, people doubted they would be their own thing, and figured they would be integrated into the Pixie quests just like the Dragons were for the moogles, and they were right.

I don't think anyone guessed the Qitari though, that sorta came out of left field.

There is no question that they are both fae. The situation is in the PLLs during the Fan Fests, the announcement perceived the Pixies and the Nu Mous to be separate beast tribe progressions.

I'm aware of that. I was just indicating that, once ShB launched, and we saw how that section of the story progressed, the Nu Mou being seperate from the Pixies was thrown out by many players. Since it they were too similar to one another. If the story had the Nu Mou come from Rak'tika, then them being their own tribe would of made more sense; regardless of them being fae or not.

Namazu is the best. Not only they are a hilarious bunch, they are all (well, so far for me at least) in the Azim Steppe, so you get to hear that ear-pleasing music while you're doing them. I like Dwarves too, they're funny, and the quests are all in one map which is quite compact and you have two teleport stones east and west, so it's pretty breezy.

The worst is Sylph. So many 'do it while you're invisible' crap, and if you're like me doing it in level appropriate character, the amount of annoying enemies targeting you in that cramped space when you're trying to do objectives can be very maddening.

Ixali is annoying too because you have to equip a specific piece of armor when doing it and the later quests require you to move to other maps like Coerthas or Mor Dhona.

Vanu-vanu--I like the story quests, but the grind can be immeasurably boring due to how vast the map is and how the quests tend to make you go from corner to corner.

1. Dwarves- I get a tank, more time with Giott and Lyna and the quests don't take so much damn travelling. Right next to an aetheryte as well.
2. Moogles- For the sole reason I get to slap one, browbeat them etc into doing things and I'm in the right the entire time :3 it makes my dictator side pioneered in Tropico and Dwarf fortress very happy
3. Kojin- Tsukamo was funny at times, and I always like the Blue
4. Qitari- friendly and straightforward, being able to choose the story was good, i just wish you could see the options you didn't choose
5. Ixal- quite a sweet story with the occasional funny moment, and I enjoyed the link to azys la. Bonus points for being great exp source back in ARR days and able to spend 4 not 3 daily allowances from the get go, minus points for some utterly atrocious penalties to crafting and having to go places

joint 6th Vath and Namazu. Some good moments but disappointing overall. 3/10 would rather stick the latter in some buuz and have more dragon quests in the former

joint 7th Sahagin and Vanu. At least these guys have some nice rewards. I did ignore the Sahagin straight off since they still pray for leviathan to come drown limsa (and my cottage) and I ignored the vanu as I found their early quests annoying and their zone is awful

joint last Amalja, Sylphs Kobolds. I felt more insulted than anything when interacting with these. I felled ifrit and I only start at neutral? You're letting this annoying upstart take credit for my work? You expect me to do everything for these kobolds that refuse to help themselves? I am not a housemaid!

I love beast tribes!!! I’m max with all and put tons of thought into this.. here’s my tier list.

1. Ananta Love you sssso much Alpa my bff <3
2. Kobolds, Kojin, Ixals, Nazamu
3. Sahagin, Dwarves, Qitari, Pixies, Gnath
4. Amaalja, Sylph, Vanu Vanu
5. Moogles

1. Stormblood
2. ARR
3. SHB
4. Heavensward

ARR quests are more archaic but the tribes have so much character. HW wasn’t good for beast tribes, Moogles were terrible and took me a while to warm to Vanu Vanu. Stormblood was the perfect mix of quests and character, and Alpa is the best. SHB has been nice but perhaps too simple quests and predictable storytelling. Feels a bit safe. But generally it’s good.

For ARR -

Sahagin > Amaljaa > Kobolds > Sylphs.

For Heavensward -

Vanu Vanu > Gnath - While stipulated to be Beastmen, I don't consider Moogles Beastmen.

For Stormblood -

Kojin > Ananta > Namazu - I like comedy as much as anybody, but I preferred the serious stories, and I also prefer combat oriented quests.

For Shadowbringers -

Qiqirn by default, as they are the only actual Beastmen. The other two aren't Beastmen.

Sahagin had the most interesting storyline imo

For the most part though they blend together for me. There hasn't been a beast tribe questline that I finished and thought "wow that was an amazing little bit of story telling". They are much better than the job quests, but still feel like an after thought for the writers.

Sylphs I loathe simply do to their dailies being the most tedious with all the pod carrying and just badly designed quests and the Fae I hated do to the cutesy, candy land aesthetic. I skipped all fae cs after like the second rank cause it was just a vomit inducing level of sugary cuteness. I know it makes a lot of ppl go "awwww so adorable I will love you forever" but all things kawaii seem to have the opposite effect on me. Makes me wanna punch them and burn their candy cane village to the ground.
