Some Chocobo Suggestions

All right, there's no specific category I can find that fits all of these chocobo-related suggestions, so I suppose "Other" will have to suffice.

* First things first: dyeing your bird just the right color is still the same trial and error process it initially was. While I haven't bothered with dyeing lately, I expect that folks have more or less gotten the feed formulas and calculators to a decent place accuracy wise. Still, it'd be appreciated to have more feedback about results in-game to take some of the guesswork out of dyeing.

* While we're at it, a number of new clothing dyes have been added to the game recently. Please add those options to the chocobo dye pool as well! And, this feels long overdue: may we get pastels, metallics and the other rare dyes as options as well?

* Speaking of overdue, I love the wide variety of bardings available, but why do we still not have barding representing Ifrit, Garuda, Titan, and Moggle Mog XII? These primal bardings are still conspicuously absent!

* This one doesn't feel especially necessary, but it would be interesting to have some number of ranks above 20 added with a couple new techniques per role, perhaps. May I suggest a Choco Raise for a new Healer top-rank skill? Even if it has an hour cooldown!

* Lastly, I've noticed there's an arena for chocobos to test their might in Ishgard. Could this be opened for perhaps a weekly sparring session to help gain some quick EXP? Not that the weekly challenge log doesn't offer a good amount, but a bit more would be nice, especially if/when any new ranks might be added above 20...

i have a feeling a number of chocobo concerns were to be addressed way back in the day but then they moved the only guy who worked on chocobos to something else and simply haven't replaced that position because they just don't want to put any resources into it at this time.

personally I feel at this point in the game's lifetime we've seen all we're going to see with chocobos.

They could at least replace the accuracy traits with something else.

I would love to see higher rank past 20 for sure! And seriously 2 thumbs up for Choco Raise!!! With maybe a 5-10 mins cooldown. :D

Oh... a trait at rank 25 to "DODGE AOEs!!!"

I hate seeing my baby bird go down... T.T

It's why I call him back and send him away during hunts. Those A Ranks and higher are super brutal. Any Chocobo lovers know what I'm talking about...

i would love to see tankboco skills be functional to take aggro again, since they were not updated with Shadowbringers

There are any number of Chocobo coloring calculators out there. Here's a simple one: https://ffxivchocobo.com/. Chocobo colors aren't as simple as dyes, so I doubt you'll ever see what you're looking for.

Here's a list of of Barding and where to get it: https://ffxivcollect.com/bardings.

They were generated for each of the releases, from ARR onwards. I doubt they'll revisit the ARR bardings, although I wouldn't be surprised to see them for sale on the Mog Station if enough people asked for them.

While it might be fun to consider level skills beyond 20 for your Chocobo, the cost of the onions needed might be a bit excessive, and for very little actual gain in utility.

I dunno Chocobo Raise sounds pretty useful, albeit in rare situations. Tank fixing would be a good thing too. Better healing couldnt hurt either. I forget but isnt the HP scaling awful after level 60?

I ran around with the Chocobo for the daily hunts and Pixie beast tribes (and FATEs, so many FATEs ... those gems!) while leveling the majority of my jobs from 70 to 80, and didn't notice any particular problem with healing my DPS jobs (tanks and healers have their own ways of dealing with things).

Well beast tribes yeah. So far recently the only problems really stemmed from synced in boss FATEs solo, tbf.

Chocobo healing is fine, more than adequate so long as you fight sensibly. A long cooldown raise would be nice though.

Chocobo DPS is also alright, bit more damage would be cool but it doesn't especially need it. A direct hit boost would do.

Chocobo tanking is terrible, poor bird just cannot hold aggro in the slightest. It needs a tank stance that it enters when you put it in defender mode.

Space can be made for all these by scrapping the accuracy traits from every skill tree.

Personally I don't particularly like the onion requirement for ranking up after rank 10 either. Made a sort of sense when rank 20 was fancy and new, but in the grand XIV tradition of making things that have been around forever easier to do, I think it should go.

A nice max level rank 20 bonus for the chocobo might be to make it so you can manually use its abilities when mounted. Maybe not particularly useful, but could be kinda neat.

I think they could just nerf the requirements for growing Onions at this point, which would make them a bit cheaper.
Otherwise yeah, lose the accuracy traits and add in other things.
Defender could get passive increases to their enmity generation in place of accuracy traits.
Healer could get a Raise with a 15 minute cooldown or something.
DPS, use some of them as passive crit/dhit boosts, but the final one could be ChocoMeteor.

The Raise and Meteor would be pretty substantial additions though, so it probably would warrant increasing the rank cap as well so that they could be rank 25+ abilities.

Those could be so cool!

I have had my Chocobo's level capped for maybe 2-3 years now and have been hoping and waiting for them to add a caster tree, cause choco meteor is a real thing!
