A couple things to remember:
Tenants do not reset the timer for personal houses, the owner must enter the house.
You must enter the house itself to reset the timer. The outdoor space does not trigger a reset.
To be honest it would be nice if they just continued to add more wards to accommodate the demand enough so that these timers wouldn't be necessary.
With the coming change in administration, we may finally get this damn virus under control. Excellent timing.
It's still a way off yet, at least 6 months, if not more due to production and logistics, and a vaccine isn't a free pass to reduce other measures. Plus whatever the coming administration puts in place is still going to be largely subject to public cooperation, and the anti-masker movement isn't going away any time soon, especially when bundled into the Trump cult and made partisan just like everything the right wing set their crosshairs on.
Basically don't count your chickens yet, progress is being made but it's not going to come that quickly.
You all have to leak political shit into this. I don't get enough at work, social media, radio, etc., we have to have it in our FF14 too while we're at it.
Timers had nothing to do with potential regime changes in the USA. If there were any "regime" SE looked at, it was their own home country's regime.
Our government conditions us to put politics into everything. A divided populace is easier to control.
One additional note about tenants - while they can't reset the demo timer, the pending demolition will display in their Timers in addition to the owner's timers. If they have a way to contact the owner outside of game, they can remind the owner of the pending demolition in case the owner hasn't received the email notification.
This is true, but I think the timers should be more lax, like every 2 or 3 months. If someone does decide to take a long break, drop the game all together, or has died, it's unlikely they'll log in by the 3 month marker. But before then, it could just be a bad month or two financially, so they shouldn't go "punished" (for lack of a better word) for being unable to log in after just one or two months.
In ARR, the wards were very lively. Neighbouring FCs often being affiliates with one another and hosted joint events for holidays. Individuals and groups alike would also hang out, invite neighbours to weddings and other such things, and I remember even playing a game of hide-and-seek. It was quite a lot of fun, and fairly lively. But I think it also depends on the server. Each server pretty much has its own culture, in a way. I think this year, people have been fairly lively in the residential areas. But it could also be because of the player-orchestrated Halloween events and whatnot.
Here's hoping it goes back to being even more social, though!
On a related note, I am curious to see what the conditions in place will be for purchasing plots when the Firmament finally rolls out. In my own self-interest, I would be delighted if they simply treated all the new plots as freshly demolished, giving those with existing houses dibs.
I doubt there will be an exclusivity period with Ishgard. I suspect it'll be just like the last ward addition only the scramble and server congestion will be a lot worse.
Relative to the resumption of demolition there sill be a day when a lot of houses go poof. It will be a good day to try for a house although the timers will all be in effect.
We just discussed this the other day in other thread. I do not know if that had any bearing on the decision or not, but I am thankful for the news regardless.
I had my personal house next door to our FC house in the Goblet but they were very fortunate in this last go round and were finally able to get our dream house in Shirogane when the new wards opened. So now I am stuck and just waiting and watching to see what might pop up for me to transfer to.
I just wish that if you were transferring to the same size house, they would move everything intact and leave your stuff where it was. It takes soooo much to properly decorate a house ... it just feels like it is all a waste to be cast aside and thrown out. So sad, just heartbreaking. PLEASE SE!!! CONSIDER THIS!!! It took about a week to redo the company house and get it back in order. So much work for no reason.
I think it was free for all if i recall as it was a completely new residential area and in this case with will be what like a crap ton of wards this go round. I can be wrong though but I wasn't interested in housing at the time. I mean I didn't get my first plot until last spring (2019) when they turned the timers on. Yea I sat through an ungodly amount of placard clicking. So best advice. plan accordingly. expect server congestion and queues and of course expect placard clicking because I guarantee you people will relocate this is a new district.
Shirogane release was a free for all. At that time, there was no limit on the number of houses a player could own on a single account, FCs only needed 1 member to purchase a plot and the purchase timer didn't exist. House flippers showed up en masse to buy up everything they could because there was nothing to hinder their ability to resell to other players. Most NA worlds saw everything sold within a couple of hours of the servers coming online.
It was in 4.2 that SE started adding in the restrictions that made it more difficult, though not impossible, for players to resell houses and began to implement personal purchase moratoriums as new wards were released.
Yay, i remembered that all of my server houses were gone in about 38 minutes and for months house flippers where selling off houses. Well goblet still had a few smalls.
The auto demo coming back is ok but they still need just make the move to instanced houses because they'll need like double on most servers for houses and more then triple on the high pop ones for it to be ok with the way it is now with wards.
Literally when I transferred my FC house and realized that when I walked in and nothing was intact, I just exhaled "oh fuq".
Yet personal chambers are. At least there's that. But still.
I literally told my FC members "looks like we're gonna have to have an empty house until I'm not lazy? Sorry folks lol".
