Does your character have a "theme"?

I'm wondering if I'm the only one who does this in video games. Every character has a "theme" associated with them.

One is a samurai/dragoon main - very tribal looking individual and his clothing sort of looks as if it were pieced together from whatever Allagen tech he could salvage and wild animals he could hunt.

Another is a dark knight/red mage - kind of a blend of dark magic and swordsmanship. He's the individual in my profile picture.

Now I want to create a third, but I'm not sure what sort of theme it should follow. I really am drawn to machinist and paladin and possibly ninja for this one, but I'm not quite sure how those two would mix. I'd like your suggestions and input on the sort of theme I could follow for this character. :)

And if your character(s) follow a theme, I'd like to hear about it! Maybe it can give me some ideas. Thank you :)

For most of my other jobs, I try to stick to an asian theme.

My pld glam is sort of a mixture of sultana sworn and brass blades. Most of other glans are modern street or urban glams. I got an iron chef eorzea glam for culinarian.

My crafters follow a very "businesswoman"/"noblewoman" theme. Everything else I try to go as ladylike as possible... with some exceptions like MCH, tanks, or dragoon (though damn, now I want to try a "battle ballgown"-type glam).

These are all beautiful and amazing!!

9/10 my classes are set up to look like the actual aesthetic of the class(samurai like a swordsman, paladin as a knight, dragoon...well, it uses the level 50 augmented gear, dancer with nice flowing skirt/dress, etc). The only exceptions are during holidays. Or like right now as I saw a piece of art and I'm going to test a new glam for my GNB.

Each character of mine has their own charisma or theme, I always enjoy taking care of such things ^^

Not really. If my character has a theme, it is the concept of yin and yang. She isn't defined by any of the jobs I choose to main as I feel this too constricting.

The lore surrounding my own character is she shuns her magical prowess despite being gifted in the those arts. Her ability to manipulate aether is off the charts due to her Lunarian lineage. However, she takes after her father who is proficient in melee combat. If I were to choose jobs to fit her personality, it would likely be NIN and RDM, but neither of these jobs are currently my main.

My character follows the theme for almost every class. Meaning my MCH is wearing the Late Allagan Aiming set (that high tech look), my DRK is wearing darker "edgy" type stuff, my SCH looks like he's a professor, my DNC looks like a dancer, yadda yadda. The only classes that are "standardized" in theme for me are the casters (BLU, SMN, RDM, BLM) who are wearing the Kokuko PvP set to make them look like a black fox spirit.

Honestly, I wish.. I spent a long time trying to come up with one (1) look for my character, but there's not enough All Classes gear (imo) to pull it off..

You might also like the Warg sets (especially the head) from Cosmos -- it's a wolf face instead of a fox though (I think we need more of this aesthetic)

No but i do that in other games like Skyrim. FFXIV questing and story is too tedious to do multiple times. Quest mechanics and objectives are very outdated and never change from 1 lvl to 80 lvl.

Those sadly don't work on Hrothgar. Really wish they did though.

Not quite a theme, but I generally stick to a long coat and sunglasses, lol

I tend to keep my character's theme close to the job they're currently on.
For healer, however, I envision him as a bit of a rugged, eclectic scholar, and I think this is reflected rather well with the Bozjan healer set.

Also reminds me of the warlock coat in Destiny, a warrior-scholar.

This is actually a much better way to put it. I was a bit confused because I don't really main any class, so it is much more accurate to say that I glamour according to the theme of the job I'm playing. For example my BLM wears a robe and giant wizard hat; my MCH has a cowgirl theme; my DRG wears traditional draconian armor; I tend to go for leather and fur when it comes to decking out my WAR, etc.

Some jobs are not as tied to an iconic look as others, or someone wise to the accurate history of any particular combat job can go that route when choosing glamours. NIN is a great example of this as instead of the pop-culture look most of us are accustomed to, I can appreciate a NIN who chooses glamours that make them look like the common folk like an ordinary moogle postman.

I like shorts and short sleeves, but that's pretty much the only unifying principle behind my glams (Mostly for the sake of leaving the scales visible).

For the longest time my character has fit in the aesthetic of a rouge, and she used to be a bit gloomy. But over the course of time, discovering herself, fighting in numerous battles/duels and winning them, she found that she really likes a good fight, even more so when she wins them, and is now more bright and open with people. So now that she prides herself as a Supreme Duelist, I put her in that aesthetic.

All of my jobs have different glams set but they do share earrings and necklace.

I guess my theme is “Ghost under Sakura tree ?”

My husband and I were once dubbed “the cotton candy cats” because he is almost always in some shade of sky blue (usually metallic) with light blue hair, while I have pink hair and am almost always in either pastel or now cherry pink. This is regardless of class played and has been this way for years. He is also well known as the bikini tank. Once he found the light steel galerus about 7 years ago, there was no going back.

I try to make my character a total edgelord and a bit of a "chuunibyou". Whether it's actually edgy in a cool way or edgy in the cringiest way, I just go for whatever is thematically edgy lol.

But sometimes, I just make him a hunter from Monster Hunter while flying around with a Rathalos. Works pretty well since I sometimes play with a Greatsword in Monster Hunter and my character is usually a Dark Knight.

My character is far eastern. Specifically she is a village girl from Nagxia. Kind of was a bit wiry and holds her drink well when she washed up in Limsa but matured over her adventures since then. We don't know too much about Nagxia yet so I kind of work a lot of the non-distinctly-Japanese eastern stuff available. For example, ryumyaku set can kind of be worked with as kind of Tang dynasty Chinese armour.

Anyway, I play WAR, BRD, and SAM, in addition to the crafters/gatherers. All of my main combat jobs usually have some kind of eastern flair on the glam plates assigned to them (though I do like to experiment outside of that for variety sake). She is rather modest and usually on the more mature side of things; don't show a lot of skin and would be better be described as handsome or beautiful or strong rather than cute or delicate.

Mine doesn't really have a theme. I do dress up in the newest event clothes and dress for the seasons. On very rare occasions I'll glamour my character in a skimpy outfit, but otherwise most of the time I'm not wandering around in just a hempen set.

My theme tends towards toku-style superheroes. I have glams inspired by Power Rangers/Kamen Rider for my DoW jobs, and a Magical Girl Phantom Thief glam for my RDM.

Steppe Warrior.

Depends on class:

DRK I just go with the classic archetype
SMN: Tribal theme of sorts
SCH: Scientist (obviously, with glasses)
NIN: "Amano themed" + horn
PLD: Onion knight
MCH: I just go for the Survival set for the australian looks (and the hat)
