Castrum is fun, but it takes an hour to spawn and we need to farm it 100 times...

From what we've found on the Chaos discord.

Castrum spawns 100% of the time when you have a party or parties of rank 10s and it spawns after an hour of the instance being open.

Castrum also rewards a 'maximum' of 26 coins per run. With a minimum of 20 for a full clear.

If you want full haste gear farmed ready for 48 man savage in 5.4, You need 2600+ coins.

You're looking at over 100 runs, (assuming you get unlucky with the 3% drop rate augments in Castrum bosses).

I love a grind, I come from older mmos, but this is a little tedious. It took me 5 hours today, to get 76 medals. Not including the fact I was not selected for an instance.

It would not be so bad if Castrum spawned after 15 minutes. Please Square?

I like this content, I love Eureka, love BA and I'm looking forward to day 1 progging savage when that's out.

But please, make the grind a grind, just not something so achingly tedious please. It genuinely is normal tier difficulty and can be brute forced with rez mages, so I don't see why it's walled behind an hour long timer. Please square.

Maybe they're hoping to stretch this one out?

Probably. They probably intend this to be something you're doing for the rest of the expansion. But even if that's the case, seeing a grind like that in front of you is pretty disheartening, especially when most of what gates you off from it is waiting out a clock.

Yeah, i'm just going to pretend that content doesn't exist and ignore it. That is waaaaaay too much effort for the reward.

You can skip the coin req and get the upgrade material items from chests after the second boss if you saved enough prisoners. The drop rate isn't that low as well. Quite a few people have upgrade materials already and it's only day 2.

I like Bozja and I would like to do Castrum but yet again it feels like another piece of content that forces you to be on a third party source just to get a group. Hoping to see it become more pug-able over the weekend, maybe?

I know "It's just rng" but I have had 3 runs where less than 3 people got augments, despite getting 6 prisoners.

The point of these areas is to give hardcore grind loving players something closer to FFXI- if you can get 25ish per hour and only need 2500ish, that's a mere 100 hour grind for a full set of bis.

If this were old school it'd take that long to get a single item.

We weren't really able to upgrade our Eureka gear until we could farm fragments in BA. I suspect there will be another way to get coins when the next relic patch shows up. It's not really realistic rightn not to try and upgrade one chest piece with 999 coins when you get a maximum of 26 per castrum run. At this point I would simply focus on buying the base gear with is pretty cheap when it comes to coins needed.

So the massive coin requirements are more akin to the "99 tokens for an EX trial mount" upper limit to your bad luck?

Upgraded Eureka gear was pretty important for BA. I can tell you it was easy to pick out those without +2 gear when it came to boss aoe's and having to heal them. I suspect the gear will be a big plus for the new BA when it releases and given there is both a normal and hard (savage) version of it.

only gives haste so its propably going to be job dependant.

The upgraded Bozja gear probably isn't going to be that important in the long run, but having access to the higher tier lost actions definitely is.

I feel like the battlefront is just a prep period for the true nastiness to come with the 24/48 raid in 5.45.

When you say "Save enough", do you mean like you need 5 or 6 for it to even drop? Or just chests have a chance of dropping them and you get more chances with more chests?
