Should Lucid Dreaming change for BLM?

As it stands, it has exceptionally few uses - IE, accidentally dropping Astral when at 0 MP and getting back enough MP to cast a Blizzard spell, and... Nothing else, as it's old aggro management was removed for ShB.

The problem is that it's a role skill for casters - who have very few as it is, and it's near useless on one of them.

For the uninitiated, BLM's stances of Astral Fire and Umbral Ice block MP-refresh effects, which includes Lucid Dreaming now, included old Ewer and... the Ranged Physical skill which the name of is eluding me (I think it was actually Refresh?) - not that you needed any of them anyway, as Umbral restores a vast % of your total MP per tick.

I personally want Manashift back for at least BLM. It should be free to use, and a two minute cooldown sounds appropriate - but even then it still wouldn't be overpowered as you'd need to take attention away from your Fire 4 victim for a second or two to support an ally. I could still see it mostly being used in a real emergency or if you took BLM into new content like a crazy person.

I wanna be said crazy person but it's a little unfair to be selfish to others like that, so I usually take RDM instead for the first few days. :/

But we are initiated, aren't we? I rarely if ever even look at Lucid Dreaming anymore; haven't for some time. But I agree, Manashift would be very welcome returned skill.

Honestly. I agree with you. For any other Caster. Lucid Dreaming is a godsend. But for a BLM its basically worthless. I still stand by my stance that BLM should get something like Drain or Osmose in its place specifically for BLM and lose access to Lucid. I go Drain because BLM is currently the only class i can think of that has no healing ability of its own. and Osmose could be made to override the "anti-MP" function of the Astral/Umbral stances.

I wouldn't mind if BLM got manashift back instead of lucid dreaming. Otherwise they don't really need any MP skills.

Casters is Mp even a remote concern these days? i know red has its resses and cures but overall i mean

Unless there is a big overhaul of MP management in the game (akin to TP loss) then Lucid is alright as it is; works as an umbrella caster (DPS and Heal) action and you can either use it or you don't, that's why it's optional. Would be nice if Manashift was returned to all the DPS casters seeing as they have the least number of role actions (I think?), possibly give Drain specifically to BLM. But saying this, BLM needs a little action clear up first, some things merged/adjusted etc whatever rather than adding even more to the toolkit.

Well healers have to pay attention to MP at least. Summoner generally seems pretty self sufficient. Maybe if you are doing nothing but casting ruin 2 you'll run out. MP seems more of an issue if you are having to rez a lot.

I honestly do not have this on my bar as BLM. Convert is faster and doesn't even cost HP anymore. Lucid has zero use for BLM unless you popped convert already and let AF or UI drop and can't use transpose (especially in lvl 80 content where you don't need MP to switch to UI). It's only real use was as an aggro dump and now it's not even that.

I assume the only reason it's available to BLM is because BLM is a caster job. For RDM and SMN it is really useful, though I don't really see them bothering to change the effect.

I do miss manashift though.

this is why i hate casters atm, MP is a none issue o course it is for healing but any other job its just kinda there and if u take it away it wont realy effect much

They're more likely to remove Lucid Dreaming from the Caster DPS pool, and make Manafont a role skill for them instead.

Personally I don't think they will change anything. Lucid Dreaming works perfectly find for summoner and red mage (and healers). It's superfluous for BLMs, but it hardly hurts them, and they don't even need it.

Also as for turning it into drain for them, that would effectively just be a second manafont.

Honestly, i dont see why BLM cant have the old mana shift ability, as a fluff utility for raids, or whatever. Esp in umbral phase, give em ressurected healers their MP. Shits so situational, they dont even need to nerf BLM dps to be fair, just give them their utility ability and go "see? DPS are all balanced now"

That's not entirely true, especially at level 80. Yes, RDM *did* have a spot of horrifically shallow manapools, pre Shadowbringers, but I've rarely had to touch any mana regen skills at all during this entire expansion. And that includes the offhand rez and heals I've casted in a pinch.

This would probably be the best solution. RDM and SMN would still have a way to get MP after getting raised or raising others a lot, but it wouldn't be a useless skill for BLM. It would be like Invigorate for melee DPS when they still had TP.

Caster MP seems like an oversight now. It doesn't feel wrong on healers that the MP refresh skill is am MP regen, but for casters it's not really necessary. So keep Lucid Dreaming for healers, but give casters (something like) Manafont.

Only if using Verraise more than twice in a minute. Otherwise even without Lucid Dreaming, you won't really come close to being OoM for quite a while.

Nah man, a dead RDM after just popping Lucid is the most Manaless caster around Eorea lol its not fun at all
