Just another one of those threads

Today not only did i get stuck in jail for an hour before a GM even approached me, but apparently now i have a perma mark on my account for for something GM's aren't allowed to disclose.

How much longer is this going to be a thing? How many of these threads need to be made before we can actually know what we did was actually wrong? Cause I'm going to be honest, the worst thing i can think of is calling someone dumb and blind after being falsely accused of insta pulling an NM in eureka. Is this the reason? i guess I'll never know. and if so, why are GM's allowing themselves be used in petty squabbles? There's a blacklist feature in the game for a reason. Stop allowing yourselves to be weaponized for petty conversations that end in a few lines of text and how about focusing on real forms of harassment(witnessed first hand someone being stalked while black listed but since they didn't call anyone dumb i guess that makes it okay?).

Fix something, please.

Edit: also, why are these "warnings" indefinite? why should this pettiness potentially affect me 2 years down the road for an equally petty argument? So many flaws with this system it's mind boggling how it hasn't been changed, and now i see why there's so many different posts/reddit/tweets about how horrible of an experience this always is.

TLDR You called someone dumb and blind? That's a personal insult.

All your reply does is further encourage the toxic passive aggressive behavior in this community and using GM's to further harass people. Context should matter, and their false accusation and their personal tells to me poking and prodding me should matter. However if you actually read the above, you'd know it's not the point anyway. It's the fact they refuse to even tell you what you did wrong.

Also if using a half hearted kindergarten level of "personal insult" is enough to get you a permanent mark on an account that has been active for 3-4 years without a single infraction AFTER they call you out on something further reinforces that something is wrong with the system. And for all i know, it might not even be this interaction with this person since it could be something completely unrelated(this happened couple days ago i think so might not even be this >.>), and i'll never know.

the correct response if someone is poking/prodding you to elicit a response that they can then report you for is to blacklist them first. never engage back with them and you won't get reported?

You guys still aren't seeing the point. That person wasn't offended by what i said, if they were so sensitive they wouldn't have publicly shouted my name to name and shame me. Then they wouldn't have proceeded to send me tells afterwards (i left the zone shortly after cause of this person). They literally just wanted to further harass me and they used the GM's to do so. And the GM's allowed it to happen, cause they literally don't look at context of the situation in the slightest.

So I quit for a month cause this whole situation kinda disgusted me. I decided to put in a ticket and see if i can appeal it and they gave me a link to appeal so i went to that. i gave more context on the situation and how the person was blatantly witch hunting me in /shout chat when i retaliated (poorly). I get an email back stating that the issue i reported has already been taken care of by other means or ticket. Then several days later i randomly get another email stating that an admin looked at the situation and determined that the mark was issued correctly taken against my account.

This is so incredibly cruel and unfair to jerk me around like this. How is this acceptable?

Just because there might've been a reason for your behaviour doesn't really make it less of an insult. You throw out insults, the ToS punish you, no matter if justified or not. Rules state insults are a no-no.

We should adopt this practice IRL. We should start arresting victims of assault for trying to defend themselves and let the assailants go free. (yes a bit of an extreme comparison but this is basically what's happening).

To be clear, I am not condemning your tries to defend yourself, and I also don't seek to judge in favour of either side when it comes to the incident. But you did drop an insult, the insult has no relation to you defending yourself. You could've appealed to the other player without one.

It was a heat of the moment thing since I've been harassed multiple times ranging from people blatantly calling me a stupid b**** to someone saying "I legit hope you catch the rona" for early pulling in eureka on high value NM's. (if i ever do "early pull" i give a 5 min warning that i'm going to do so for chances at double spawn in a new instance). And still get harassed over it.

Instead of a GM just saying "hey, one person harassed other person, other person heatedly replied, both in the wrong. Let me msg both of them and say that's a no no and be on my way". Instead I get yanked to "gm jail" forced to wait an hour before even showing up. being told that they're not even allowed to say what i did wrong, wasting my time for literally not being able to tell me anything about the situation. Giving me a permanent mark against my account. Being told the mark was taken care by other means. Then finally told it it was justified by punishing 1 person and not the other despite both being in the wrong.



ps: why the heck even take me to this "jail" then? Send an email next time, heck even leave a postit note in the in game mail. Virtually kidnapping someone and giving them an in game msg not to logout is pretty disgusting way to do things when you're unwilling to even have a discussion about the situation, or offer any information on the situation.

If the person was harassing you, why didn't you report the person that provoked you in the first place? These are just the facts of playing the game. You'd best drop being salty about it otherwise you will just end up taking more time off or even leaving the game for good because you'll only be able to think of this.

Cause as lame as the whole thing was i just left the zone and moved on with my day. Now that i know SE is interested in punishing people over petty things guess if i ever decide to play again i'll just join the masses and be passive aggressive and weaponize GM's to anyone that rubs me the wrong way since they're obviously condoning that behavior. Also already haven't logged on for almost a month outside writing the ticket and canceled sub.
