It's kind of like EBT, but it's SE version of it. People are way too poor and/or financially dense to actually sub and buy things off the mogstation without going broke so why not give people a virtual card that they accrue points via playtime to be used towards the mogstation?
How about points to use so they can get a discount on their sub a month? People are broke these days and a helping hand is all they need to get through these rather tough times! I say help one another to make sure everyone can get mogstation items whether they can afford them or not.
Please consider it SE. It would be the right thing to do during these trying times!

If you're too broke to afford a 12.99 USD sub, you should probably re-examine your finances and either suck up that FF14 can't be part of your life at the moment or take your movie night/console-pc game/fine wine money and refunnel it into your sub.
If you're too broke to afford mogstation goods, that's fine cuz mogstation goods are not required in any shape or form to play the game. You get free mounts in game, free glam in game, free dyes in game, free furnishings in game and so much more. The diamond encrusted rolex equivalent of items in the mogstation can be left behind. -
